I got stuck in sports yesterday too , specifically American college sports which eventually led me to the answer somehow.

MrsElm · 09/05/2022 17:59

Am delighted with today's result, as did absolutely no Googling. I initially thought it was about something completely different, but a specific phrase gave me a light bulb moment.

I got it in 76 guesses, with accuracy of 51.32%

Not too bad today.

Enjoyed that.

Must do better!

I solved today's Redactle (#33) in 191 guesses with an accuracy of 60.21%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Only the tiniest look at a Wikipedia page about the larger subject area once I had most of the article uncovered to get the actual word.

Etinoxaurus · 09/05/2022 18:36

I solved today's Redactle (#33) in 164 guesses with an accuracy of 40.24%. Played at www.redactle.com/

I solved today's Redactle (#33) in 114 guesses with an accuracy of 54.39%. Played at www.redactle.com/

I got the general area about 50 guesses in, then managed to uncover some specific clues (at last my degree is useful!) and finally dredged up something that gave me the answer.

VivienneDelacroix · 09/05/2022 18:58

That was painful -

Yesterday's one...autumn. I'm curious how the round-the-houses solves went. I got stuck on a sports track and I kind of knew it was a dead end as all the hits were in a paragraph low down the page, but I plugged on with sports terms, thinking if I could make sense of the paragraph it might help and then hit on seasons which pinged all over the place.

I got really early on that the answer was one of a group of four things, but all I could think of was the four horsemen of the apocalypse (which clearly didn’t fit)! So, my sidetrack was mythology related, which produced enough minor hits to lead me up the garden path for quite a while. If I’d remembered that there are four seasons, I probably would’ve got it in single digits, but I did have a good giggle at myself when I realised Grin

I solved today's Redactle (#33) in 179 guesses with an accuracy of 53.63%. Played at www.redactle.com/

That was tough. I was circling round the answer for ages!

BowerOfBramble · 09/05/2022 19:21

You solved it in 118 guesses
Your accuracy was 63.56%

I liked today's - it was well known enough to guess without being easy (as if) and I don't mind getting 100-200 guesses at all.

Yesterday's was fun - I got it after several random guesses because scanning down the paragraphs there was a To and I thought of the poem and kind of put it in as a nerd joke.

BowerOfBramble · 09/05/2022 19:33

I think basically if it's a creature, plant, weather, country or person etc - I don't get cross. If it's something in specialist maths or science that honestly I've barely heard in my life before, I get cross AngryGrin

MrsLargeEmbodied · 09/05/2022 19:54

You solved it in 437 guesses
Your accuracy was 24.49%
You have solved 18 consecutive Redactles

i had to go and search for help

L1ttledrummergirl · 09/05/2022 20:04

Yesterday I went off looking for weather, tried all sorts but didn't get seasons for far too long.

I solved today's Redactle (#33) in 80 guesses with an accuracy of 40.00%. Played at www.redactle.com/

I'm impressed that I got this in 80, I was on a tangent for ages before realising I was way off base. Then the answer came quite quickly.

ScrambledSmegs · 09/05/2022 20:47

I solved today's Redactle (#33) in 53 guesses with an accuracy of 84.91%.

That was good today - nicely challenging without being impossible.

I’d managed to uncover a lot of the Etymology paragraphs, without realising they were about the Etymology, so I had lots of stuff about Germanic languages, Old English, Middle English, Old Norse, 16th Century etc.

Only by plugging away there did I get to ‘also known as (redacted) in American English’ at the very top of the page and that got me the answer.

I’m 130 guesses into today’s. Based on what isn’t a hit I know it can’t be the thing I’m skirting around, but then because of what IS there I can’t really see what else might fit.

OhRiRi · 09/05/2022 21:01

I solved today's Redactle (#33) in 382 guesses with an accuracy of 36.39%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Frustrating one today, I had full paragraphs complete but took a long time to get to the actual point

SheilaFentiman · 09/05/2022 21:04

@AliasGrape same, I was stuck on all the Old English stuff!

AliasGrape · 09/05/2022 21:07

I solved today's Redactle (#33) in 185 guesses with an accuracy of 53.51%. Played at www.redactle.com/

Well that was the right sort of thing that I was thinking, but I was a long way from the actual thing itself for a long time.

GrouchyKiwi · 09/05/2022 21:16

I was stuck so decided to try a word DH had suggested and I had turned down. I haven't yet told him he was right.
