Something weird happened yesterday. I put in the word ‘Romantic’ and got four hits. My partner put it in on his computer and only go two. Something a bit glitchy going on there

i had something like 90% accuracy for the first 40 guesses - but totally leading me up the wrong path. I found a new, more concrete lead which, when linked with a bit of info in the first paragraph gave me the answer.
I was certain that guess 74 was the answer, but until a low scoring guess at 73 I had no idea. There was something very satisfying about that.

I've changed my way of playing. I used to use Google or Wiki search but it felt like cheating. I know it's not and anyone can play however they like! Now I've decided not to Google. I might change my mind though when the answer is something I've never even heard of 😂

Yesterday's one...autumn. I'm curious how the round-the-houses solves went. I got stuck on a sports track and I kind of knew it was a dead end as all the hits were in a paragraph low down the page, but I plugged on with sports terms, thinking if I could make sense of the paragraph it might help and then hit on seasons which pinged all over the place.

Yes, it's funny how we can get stuck in the wrong area in this (and also games like semantle). I went astray in the 'literary genres' one because although I'd worked out it was some sort of classification, I'd guessed 'species', and that just doesn't go with 'genre'. And there was only one occurrence of 'book'.

I thought it was all about pagan ceremonies, not helped by Halloween having its own section.
