Passport application or renewal timelines in one place at a glance -add yours!

In the light of the hefty current backlog of processing passport applications, I thought it might be informative to start a thread for keeping an eye on other people's timelines for the applications for and renewal of UK passports. Personally, I'm hoping for reassurance at best, or a grim-faced reality check at worst.
I'll start. How about this format:
Type of passport requested: 2x DC UK renewals
Date of application: 18th of April
Method: Check and Send at local post office
Anyone want to add their stats?

No idea, which office it was as I had lost my passport. Ironically said passport has now been found. But that’s my luck at the moment.

We have emailed the CEO of the passport office and copied in my local MP, whose party didn’t do well in the local elections so may wish to be a good MP for once.

Update: passport has been printed so fingers crossed it'll come next week 😊

@EveSix it does seem that way but experiences like @popandchoc give me hope as this is exactly what happened to us although we sent the application off on the 1st April and the new photo on the 20th. I wish I could stop thinking about it!

Update passport approved and being printed, hopefully it arrives soon.

Getting a bit concerned about mine now ...4 weeks ...and only at the stage if being received ...twice !!

Oooo, bizzey, runner, heidi and everyone else 🐌 Mondays seem to bring fresh hope.
Can I ask, how do you get your updates? I keep checking my emails (the one I put on DD1's application was a digit too long for the available boxes -the checker at the Post Office said it would be fine- but I put a different, shorter email address on DD2's form so have to check both) but nothing. My only communication so far has been via text message, but then not specific to which application it refers to, just saying "We've received your application, now leave us alone". Are they contacting you, or are you using some kind of tracking? (My message specifically requested I do not attempt to track my applications for X number of weeks after submission).

Last Update being delivered today - 9th May so just over a month including updating picture in the middle.

@EveSix I’m getting updates by email, nothing since ‘being processed’ on 22 April but keep logging in daily just in case anyway! We’ve decided to try to postpone our holiday from May h/t til the summer / there are options available but can’t get through to Jet2, so have passport office on hold on one phone and Jet3 on the other. Not at all the kind of anticipation you want with an upcoming holiday, eh?

Method: Online with old passport and documents sent to Glasgow passport office
Application status: Passport arrived 26th April
However, tomorrow is the two week deadline for the documents to be returned and heard nothing. Tracking link simply states passport has been printed!
Getting slightly worried now 😕

I'm not desperate for mine, as I don't have any holidays planned; but it's six weeks since I sent mine off Check and Send. How long should I wait before I chase it?

@sueelleker tbh I think I’d wait a bit longer - I’ve been told completely different things by two different people today (it’s been through all the checks and just needs final sign off before printing, then - it actually hasn’t been examined or even allocated to an examiner yet), so it’s not that helpful. Do you get any kind of acknowledgment when you do it with check and send so you know they’ve received the forms?

Application approved today and passport being printed.

Given they only updated it to show it was received on Friday, I'd say that's a good turnaround time.

My office is Peterborough.

They gave me a receipt at the post office.

Old passport posted 2 weeks ago first class and they are still chasing me saying “send your old passport”.

No holiday booked yet but hoping to go end of July.

How long should I wait before phoning them? Another week maybe?

My new passport arrived today….3 weeks to the day from applying 👍

@KeepScrapingBy , I had a text last Tuesday to say they hadn’t received my old passport (posted 2 weeks earlier) and then the following day I had another to say they’d received it.

The same thing happened to my son-he rang the PO to enquire why the passport office were saying they hadn’t received it while they were saying they had delivered it, and they said the passport office don’t acknowledge receipt until they are ready to deal with it 🙄

I posted mine 7 days before you posted yours btw. New passport arrived today.

Interestingly just had an email from Royal Mail they have a parcel to be delivered tomorrow!! Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
That would be a month from application, new passport to receiving all the documentation back with the Glasgow office.

I renewed 2 DC passports last week, using the online application form.

Passport for DC2: they received his old passport on 4 May, and today have texted to say the application has been approved. Bootle office.

Passport for DC1: am still waiting for them to acknowledge receipt of his old passport. Postage tracking says it was signed for on 4 May.... Hemel Hempstead office. Not sure when/if to start chasing up that one!!

I don't think overseas applications are being prioritised.

We began the renewal process 15th March. To our surprise, we needed to book an appointment with VFS first and appear in person to hand in documents where they check them all (apparently to allow us to keep the old passports for visa and ID reasons). Applied for first available which was 30th March. Then paid ridiuclous money (basically twice as much as UK) and application sent off. Got an email that day that they had been sent.

Since then I've heard nothing and it'll be six weeks tomorrow, eight if you count having to wait for the VFS appointment which was a nasty surprise! And I thought we'd left plenty of time with 15 weeks - now I'm getting a bit worried.

Just had an email to say they’ve received my old passport. Sent 2 weeks ago by first class post! Hopefully will be on its way soon!

Update: got a text message this morning to say DHL would be delivering my passport in the afternoon and sure enough it arrived 🙂So exactly 2 weeks from submitting my online application.

Update today that passport has been printed and will be transferred for delivery in the next few days.

3 1/2 weeks so far since original application submitted.
