Good point bread

He's so bloody entrenched in Europe it's a mess whichever way he plays it

Well, I didn't see this coming: the vice-president of Gazprombank apparently left Russia, joined Ukraine's territorial defense forces, called the war an international crime and claimed that the recent death of former Gazprombank deputy president Vladislav Avayev was a murder.

Is this for real 🤯.

Rats jumping off the sinking ship?

I read a translation of the article and it doesn't read like that.

Rather (if true and I'm struggling to corroborate) the article suggests that as a person born in Ukraine he felt compelled to pick a side - and it wasn't Russian.

We've all read the stories of Ukrainians with family in Russia (also true of Russians living in Ukraine) speaking to relatives who refuse to believe their testimony of what's happening. That must be so soul destroying - but possibly equally so is being in Russia and not believing Putin's narrative but unable to express that - hence the brain drain of educated Russians.

EsmaCannonball · 26/04/2022 23:11

Just done a bit more reading about the Bulgarian situation. The Bulgarian Prime Minister is visiting Kyiv this week. Bulgaria is currently run by a four party coalition and the socialist faction is apparently threatening to dissolve the coalition if Bulgaria sends military aid to Ukraine.

minsmum · 26/04/2022 23:14

I was just watching newsnight and they introduced the Ukraine section by saying that Russia were getting their act together in the Donbass, they then had a military expert on. I paraphrase but the question was would Ukraine run out of weapons, the look he gave the presenter and then said not before Russia does

Bread that sounds more positive then. Hopefully more like him will follow.

A lot has been happening today, I feel escalation in my water but not sure from where it's coming at the moment...it's also top of our news again.

Questions- many of them.

Is it a false flag - imho you don't bugger up key assets of your own in that scenario. Typically Russian FF operations have focused on civilian assets/infrastructure (yes - shameful).

So is this Ukrainian Forces special ops inside Russia? Anti Russian/war sabotage from within? Self sabotage from the oligarchy/kleptocracy to hide what they don't have (ie assets they "pretended" to buy but banked the money - evidence of which is now hidden in destruction)?

Who knows?

And maybe that's the problem because Putin doesn't know either......

He's sacked off the heads of his intelligence service. The army has lost a significant cohort of senior officers and the navy has lost a flagship.

Frankly Putin's biggest ally right now is Germany and the €€€ they are funding his war with.

His biggest enemies are the USA, U.K. and Poland who seem to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

An ammunition depot in Belgorod has gone kaboom.

RedToothBrush · 27/04/2022 05:08

Not to be confused with the fireworks display from another ammunition depot in occupied Luhansk....

Natsku · 27/04/2022 06:10

Ok this many military and police places going bang is looking less and less like a series of unfortunate events for the Russians and more and more like deliberate sabotage. Really hoping its from within and Russians are starting to have had enough.

katem98 · 27/04/2022 07:12

Gas supplies to Poland resume
Russian gas supplies to Poland have now resumed after they were halted earlier this morning, EU data shows.
At one point early on Wednesday physical gas flows along the Yamal-Europe pipeline from Belarus into Poland had temporarily dropped to zero.
Poland has warned that Russia has threatened to cut off its gas supplies from Wednesday after Warsaw refused to start paying for the supplies in Russian roubles.

So Finland may join Nato
and possibly Sweden

Igotjelly · 27/04/2022 07:31

Seems to be some confusion, Gazprom just announced that they have cut off all gas deliveries to both Poland and Bulgaria yet both still seem to be receiving it.

RedToothBrush · 27/04/2022 07:51

Money making, recycling and propaganda all in one handy capitalist souvenir.

A piece of a downed Russian plane.

Yours for $1000. Money may or maynot go to fundraising for Ukrainian forces.

The new "piece of the Berlin Wall".

Natsku · 27/04/2022 07:52

Maybe they're just as effective at turning off gas supplies as they are at carrying out invasions.

There might be a technological delay in cutting off the deliveries.
