I solved Redactle #17 in 31 guesses, accuracy was 48.39%

This was my third day of doing Redactle and because I’m solving it with well below average guesses (yesterday was 19 guesses) I’m wondering if I’m cheating? When I’ve got something close to a full sentence I google that and the Wikipedia article usually comes up. Are other people not doing this too? Am I cheating? 😳

That was awful. First time playing. Gave up at 270 and just googled a sentence. Still never heard of it!

I can't seem to put any guesses into redactle, unless Im doing it wrong! Think it might be cause my phone is old!

But how can you be getting almost full sentences with that few guesses? I was up to over 80 guesses and none of my sentences were anywhere near full!

I only started playing yesterday but I love this game! Today's was harder than yesterdays as my subject knowledge definitely wasn't as strong. I got half the answer early on which helped but then lots of guessing of loosely related words.

How do you refresh Redactle? I'm trying the links on today's posts, and I've tried searching via Google, but it keeps coming up as yesterday's puzzle, which I did not complete.

That was hard! I solved today's Redactle (#17) in 204 guesses with an accuracy of 30.88%.

I can't believe I got it! Oh my god, that was so much fun but my brain hurts now. It took me 203 guesses.

Ok now I understand how you're all getting it much quicker than me, you're googling! 😮

My accuracy is higher though so not sure how that works.

@GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat I suppose the more guesses you make the higher your accuracy will be because your word choices become less random as you start to get an idea of what the subject might be?

I would never get it if I didn't Google. It doesn't make it easy as you still have to figure out what to Google, and how to use the results! The articles can be from any area of knowledge and expertise, so no one could possibly know all about every topic. I consider it all a learning experience 😉😀

@MrsElm First I ‘read’ through the whole article to get an idea of what category of subject it might be by the way it’s written (famous person, historical event, science etc) then I look for anything that stands out such as unusual sentence structure, quotes, repeated phrases, hyphens and I start by concentrating on those. Like with Semantle, guesses scoring zero are just as useful early on because they can rule out whole topics.

Through random guesswork yesterday (not the current one!) I found out the individual has been in a relationship with a French writer called George. Google then led to George Sands, and then onwards to Choppin. Before that I thought I was looking for a famous woman born in March, died October in England.

I see it as a detective puzzle.

I sometimes use a calculator in Nerdle too 😉
