I had most of those @Rummikub and I think 994 and 996 are the best.

994ing something might result in it 966ing but it also might result in it (targetword)ing

I tried

It’s not a direct synonym of 994 and 996 but it’s something that a thing might do if you 994d it or 996d it, especially if it was a certain shape. It might do it up or down a 966.

I had to give up in and use a hint (got to 996 before the hint though!)

Almost 200 guesses, 37 greens and I’m clueless. Highest are bloody 994 and 996 and even with the hints I’ve read here I’m stuck. Think I’m going to give up on today’s as it’s doing my head in.

So I began this early this morning whilst at the airport. I then flew to Crete, drank copious amounts of wine with dinner and popped a random word in and boom- got it!
