The kitchen cabinet with a ceramic rooster, which remained hanging on the wall of the high-rise building in Borodyanka destroyed by an air bomb, was dismantled and handed over to the Museum of the Revolution of Dignity.

Re: museum exhibits:
Sky News today was showing a Russian [anti]-NATO exhibition. The visitors to the exhibition who were interviewed were completely taken in and aghast at the horrors perpetrated by NATO as exhibited there. A glass case had an Azov flag next to the American flag which had supposedly been found flying together on a car. Outside a long line of bill boards shows a succession of huge photographs of children from Eastern Ukraine killed (?) or harmed by Ukraine. It all must be entirely convincing to the population at large.

Natsku · 17/04/2022 20:29

Not good optics though, if he doesn't after being invited. A bit thoughtless of Zelensky to land him in it.

Yeah not great optics really.

Russia killed children just to photograph and stage for an exhibition justifying the 'operation' to their people? That is beyond sick.
ScrollingLeaves · 17/04/2022 20:36

The exhibition in Moscow is called,
“NATO Chronicle of Cruelty”.

The photographs of the children are like portraits forming a memorial to them. They are not dead bodies on the ground. I do not know how they obtained or created them but they are there to portray them as victims.

novayagazetaeu.substack.com/p/--29c?s=w
“There are a lot of wounded. Mostly with severed limbs"
Sailors from the sunken cruiser Moskva contact their relatives and tell their stories. "Novaya Gazeta.Europe" publishes one of them

Mother of a survivor:
“The son said that the cruiser was hit from the land, from the Ukrainian side. It just wouldn't fire. There are dead, there are wounded, there are missing. My son called me when they were given the phones. They left their documents and [their personal] phones on the cruiser. He calls me and cries from what he saw. It was scary. It is clear that not everyone survived. They tried to put out the fire on their own after the cruiser was hit by three Neptune missiles ( Kyiv says that only two missiles hit - Ed .). I, as a mother, do not even know what words to choose. I'm just very happy that my son called me that he is alive and well.

I do not want to advertise all this to the public, because I will set my son up ( the story was published anonymously with the permission of the heroine - Approx. Ed. ). They signed a non-disclosure agreement before they got on the cruiser. You understand me too, I'm scared. It's very scary. It's creepy, and I don't know how to wait for my son. He has less than * left to serve [data on the sailor's service life removed for reasons of the heroine's safety].

About forty people died. Several people went missing. And a lot of wounded.

The wounded, mostly with severed limbs, because there were such explosions - both what detonated and what rockets hit.

And

About the one confirmed dead sailor:
His wife, Varvara Vakhrusheva, confirmed to the publication that the sailor died in the crash of the Moscow. According to her, the “command” informed her about the death of a military man on the afternoon of April 14. Vakhrusheva also said that 27 members of the crew of the cruiser Moskva were missing.

And

From a father of another sailor:
It's a lie! Blatant and cynical lie! My conscript son, as I was informed by the direct commanders of the Moskva cruiser, is not among the dead and wounded and is included in the list of missing people. A conscript who was not supposed to take part in hostilities is listed as missing, ”the man writes.

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

Zelensky has invited Macron and Biden to come visit.

Not sure the way Zelenskyy has done it is was a good idea. Inviting them is one thing, inviting them in a publicly is putting them on the spot, which isn't very good.

Well, Biden said publicly three days he was ready to go to Ukraine 🤷🏼‍♀️
ChardonnaysPetDragon · 17/04/2022 20:47

Well, Biden said publicly three days he was ready to go to Ukraine 🤷🏼‍♀️

So why did Zelensky have to invite him then?

Ijsbear · 17/04/2022 20:47

@blueshoes I should think they simply took the opportunity to photograph killed children rather than actively killing them, in most cases. Unless it was th Wagnerans, perhaps.

But there -are- quite a lot Russian soldiers who just don't want to be there and asking them to kill children - well, they're forced to be there but that's a step too far for almost everyone, except a tiny minority. Admittedly Wagner seems different.

The commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Igor Osipov, was arrested

twitter.com/EuromaidanPR

This is kind of unbelievable. The Russians are getting through their high ranking officers at a very fast rate at the moment!

Oh dear god...

The optics are bad for saying 'it would be nice for my friend to come visit me'. Especially when theyve expressed interest in doing so and there is clearly diplomatic work going on about official visits...

The Kyiv Independent @kyivindependent 3days ago
Biden says he is ready to visit Ukraine.

^A reporter asked the U.S. president on April 14 whether he was ready to go to Ukraine, to which Biden replied, “Yeah.” He also said that the decision is underway about other senior U.S. officials’ visit to Ukraine.

Some people will just have a pop no matter what

As for Macron. I think its reasonable to invite him to explain his comments about genocide and mirroring Russian propaganda.

Its not like he will come visit before the election anyway.

RedToothBrush · 17/04/2022 22:10

The Kyiv Independent@kyivindependent
Ukrainian army says it destroyed 10 tanks in Donbas over past 24 hours.

Ukrainian troops have also destroyed 5 artillery pieces, 15 armored vehicles, and two helicopters, the Joint Forces Operation said on April 17. Twelve enemy аttacks have been repelled.

Phillips P OBrien@phillipspobrien
Today Ukrainian armed forces are claiming about two thirds of a BTG destroyed in the Donbas. If they are right they mjgnt be destroying Russian forces only a little less quickly than it takes them to arrive. These are two days of heavy losses.

Natsku · 17/04/2022 22:11

Tbf I read the other day that Biden would not be going, that it wouldn't be feasible because of the security issues, but he must have changed his mind since then.

WeAreTheHeroes · 17/04/2022 22:16

The more I read about what's going on, the more I realise the importance of the intelligence community. There is so much going on behind the scenes.

These threads are an excellent source of information, thanks to everyone contributing.

PaperTyger · 17/04/2022 22:46

I came back to UK today and as we came through arrivals a lady was waiting with a huge Ukraine flag and someone's name. She gave such a sweet warn smile as we came through!
Whoever she ended up with Will be very lucky.

Also lots of met police notices...if you've Been traveling to Ukraine, and saw illegal acts (longer explain) then contact police, icc etc.
Of course some should have been written in Ukrainian.

PaperTyger · 17/04/2022 22:52

Omg France sent out of date medical aid!?

Ijsbear · 17/04/2022 23:04

ISW Key Takeaways

Russian forces likely captured the Port of Mariupol on April 16 despite Ukrainian General Staff denials.
Russian forces likely seek to force the remaining defenders of the Azovstal factory to capitulate through overwhelming firepower to avoid costly clearing operations, but remaining Ukrainian defenders appear intent on staging a final stand.
Evgeny Prigozhin, financier of the Wagner Group, is likely active on the ground in eastern Ukraine to coordinate Wagner Group recruitment and funding
Russian forces continued their build up around Izyum but did not conduct any offensive operations.

The Ukrainian Military Intelligence Directorate (GUR) reported on April 16 that the Kremlin is increasingly arresting Russian and proxy officers for failures in Ukraine.

Well yes, arresting the Admiral of the Black Sea Fleet is pretty much ...astonishing.

I wonder if Putin has realised his high ranking officer numbers are worse than decimated, in the Roman sense of the word?

Thousands of Ordinary Russians are going into battle with the information war
Spreading pro-Russian content, dismissing accusations of war crimes, and participating in cyber attacks are all ways in which people are encouraged to help the Russian cause

"Omg France sent out of date medical aid!?"

You what now ?!

The EU, which to be honest is mostly France and Germany, has a lot to answer for imo.

Shockingly poor though out this

RedToothBrush · 17/04/2022 23:23

Dr Mike Martin @threshedthought
The Battle is Donbas seems to have started.

But it’s the Ukrainians who have started it.

See here on my expertly drawn map

The Ukrainians are pushing east from Kharkiv which cuts the supply routes for Russian forces in Izyum.

If you remember from a few days ago (or a week? I can’t remember) the Russians took Izyum. This was import - it is a transport hub which makes it easier for the Russians in the NE to link up to this in the Mariupol direction. The start of an encirclement of Ukr forces in Donbas

But it appears that the Russians have over stretched themselves over supply lines that they can’t defend.

And so the Ukrainians are merrily cutting those supply lines

An encirclement of an encirclement if you like

I suppose this is the consequence of having a fixed date - may 9th to wrap everything up by

We’ve seen this before in the battle for Kyiv. Russians push too far on unrealistic political goals and get their log tails cut.

They’ve learnt nothing. Watch this space.

This sort of movement coupled with credible reports of Ukrainian reinforcements and reports of Russian losses seems to indicate that the war is still not going Russians way

Which takes me back to my original prediction: the russian armed forces will be defeated in Ukraine and Putin will be removed from power.

It may take some time but that is where we’ll end up

I swear the Ukrainians are proper sick at strategy.

I want them on my side in any future wars.

This move gives the real lie to all those Russian claims of reconstitution of those forces that got mullered around Kyiv.

Where are they? There aren’t any.
