And so the madness continues! Here's our 9th thread to discuss, boast and rant about the game that is more pointless than Pointless, needs Masterminds to solve and will make Eggheads of us all, what with the amount of hair-pulling it induces!

I usually guess the type of thing it

Oops not sure what happened there. Basically was saying I usually guess the very general type of thing it is and a place associated with it very early on in my guesses but as both of them were stone cold my strategy clearly doesn’t work!

I solved Semantle #73 in 84 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 12.97. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #59. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 64.10 (997/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

I solved Semantle #73 in 54 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 5.47. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #43. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 64.10 (997/1000).

I solved Semantle #73 in 21 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 20.75. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #6. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 41.05 (623/1000). semantle.novalis.org/

AliasGrape, I put in a very specific place associated with the answer (after I got it!), and it was 28.48, which would normally be a green, but today’s barrier for similarity and greens was very high!

Much googling of unknown words now that I've solved it!

Oh, I too just noticed the words getting redder. Were they always coloured?

I've not bothered for weeks but tried today. I never ever got the word and gave up but look what happened!!

Odd one today. I was cold for ages. I got 647, then got stuck for another 40 guesses then I got 997 and got the answer!

I had loads in green for ages and I didn’t really understand what I was doing!

Ok so I think it’s making more sense. But I’ll probably try playing like word association and see how my scores go.

I had a first today because I got ???? for the correct answer

I got ???? For a decent match but not the word itself.

I think this might keep me more occupied than wordle is at the moment

I'm a bit fed up of wordle

I like wordle but I think my average time is sub 3 minutes to complete. Semantle is more of a relaxed longer lasting challenge!

My highest green is 992 and I am stuck. I’ve seen a clue regarding 992 but I can’t get it it. I’m usually pretty good! Any not too obvious clues?

You try to find the secret word by getting closer and closer using scores calculated by an AI. Sometimes us mere mortals disagree with the computer scoring. Sometimes it is fun. Sometimes it is really frustrating.

It’s a fairly standard clue every day- but it holds really true here. Think traditional Uncle Sam full American stereotype.
