...he never comes back?

Why? What did you think I was going to say?

God knows, there is plenty about Johnson to disagree with strongly, but this isn't one of them. His visit was obviously appreciated and did take a certain courage. Criticise where due, but not as a knee-reaction just because it's him.

Pyewhacket · 10/04/2022 01:18

Putin is a barbaric war criminal targeting women and children. His army are killing innocent civilians and raping women. Boris is trying to do all he can to help Zelensky . And all you can do is take the piss !. You disgust me.

Bluetowelsandflannels · 10/04/2022 01:27

@cakeorwine

Ursula Van De Leyen (the EU President) went to Kyiv on Friday and also went to Bucha

But you won't find that reported widely in the UK press.

It was all over UK media don't be so utterly ridiculous

Tilltheend99 · 10/04/2022 01:35

Probably desperate to get as far away from the latest scandal (chancellors tax affairs) as possible

CailleachGranda · 10/04/2022 01:41

@LegallyBlende

I've no time for Boris but fair play to him in Ukraine today. Did he even get his haircut??

I was scared for them all walking around the city, easy targets for any crazies about.

Yup. This

Other world leaders already visited Zelensky, including before the withdrawal.

I’ve got no problem with Boris doing what he can (which, let’s face it, isn’t that much) but let’s no pretend he isn’t head over heels to have a massive distraction.

Zelensky wisely grins and bares these things because he is thinking of the bigger picture. We should be so lucky to have such a leader!

CheesePlantMurderer · 10/04/2022 01:43

Have his people not heard of MSTeams Hmm

CailleachGranda · 10/04/2022 01:43

Cakeorwine it was widely reported. What are you reading/watching
?

midsomermurderess · 10/04/2022 01:50

I know other world leaders have visited. What's with this place and stating the obvious? So what if events at home are shit. I stand by my point. It's frankly silly to xarp about Johnson doing this when there are any number of other things to go after him on.

Furries · 10/04/2022 03:05

Couldn’t care less re BJ or the varying views about him

I DO care about support for Ukraine, The UK has offered a lot of support/training.

If Ukraine are happy with that, I’m not going to debate them.

Again, I don’t care for BJ - but I do care about optics. The more leaders that visit the country, the better.

DesdamonasHandkerchief · 10/04/2022 06:03

Good on him. Of course there's an element of self publicity, what world leader doesn't want to take the opportunity to get a photo call that puts him in a positive light to the voting public back home. But I'm very proud of the U.K. for their vocal support of Ukraine, and Johnson's support of Zelensky.
We seem to be putting our money where our mouth is for once, I hope there's more going on behind the scenes that we're not party to.
Now if we could just sort out the visa debacle ...

itsgettingweird · 10/04/2022 06:21

can praise the UK Government for their collective decision on the support for Ukraine.

I can also say that Johnson is a liar. I have contempt for him. He lies, manipulates the truth and the sooner he is gone, the better.

Agree. Look how it turned out when people ignored all the stuff about JS because of what he did publicity wise re his charities and for charity.

Bad people can do good things. Doesn't stop them being bad people.

sashh · 10/04/2022 06:21

I wish we could! His people will follow him into a war. I wouldn't follow Boris through a door.

If you did you'd probably end up in a fridge

@Tangerinedreamisatheme

Go on the feminist threads. They love him Confused.
Only because BoJo speaks his mind on Trans ( men wanting to be women) issues. It’s worrying that he could get re elected on this alone.
MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/04/2022 06:35

good russian name boris

We certainly don't.

It's more of a living nightmare acknowledging the political party that hates women is the only one that knows what a woman is.

This exactly.

Different news to the rest of us apparently.
echt · 10/04/2022 07:23

It's gone from the photo roll this morning in the Guardian, but Johnson did that fucking rude and patronising shoulder-touching of Zelenskiy in the style of Trump.

What a cunt.

echt · 10/04/2022 07:24

I take that back. Cunts are useful. I know, I have one.

Bunnycat101 · 10/04/2022 07:25

There is a lot that boris has done wrong as a leader but I think he’s been pretty good on Ukraine. Him being there will matter.

As a poster said above there is a lot of grey around any leader. Churchill did a lot of bad for example.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/04/2022 07:33

Foreign leaders are queueing up to visit Zelenskyy because it makes them look good, and distracts from what a crap job they are doing at home.
Our Prime Minister is a venal, lying, misogynist piece of shit without any moral compass at all and I wouldn't trust his motives on anything.

Yes. We and they are all people who do good bits and bad bits. We are all such mixtures. I have read that Churchill had nightmares about 'the bodies floating in the water' which were a result of his decisions in WW1.
Some have better intentions than others. I wish BJ would not say exactly what we're sending to Ukraine but perhaps it's good propaganda and maybe he's lying and we're sending more. Are we GIVING stuff or selling it to Ukraine?
vdbfamily · 10/04/2022 08:33

As I understand it we are giving huge amounts of weaponry.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 10/04/2022 08:37
@RufustheFloralmissingreindeer beg to differ. If the rest of the country votes for johnson like all the 'life long labour voting' feminists over there the tories are going to be in power for the next 50 years.
Don’t be changing the goalposts

That’s not what you said….

Beg to differ indeed 🤨
