Nasty people wishing death on someone , that makes you the arsehole

worriedatthistime · 10/04/2022 09:08

Some very bitter people on here you really should chill out a little

worriedatthistime · 10/04/2022 09:09

@MrsLargeEmbodied thats because that is part of his ancestry

worriedatthistime · 10/04/2022 09:11

Maybe labour need to pull their finger out and start getting three voted back, seems like they like sitting in the sidelines
Acknowledging women would be a huge start ,

tempester28 · 10/04/2022 09:11

I think Boris ancestors are from Turkey not Russia.

It’s not popular here it seems but I think Boris is doing a good job all in all. Ursula von der Leyen, had already been and when leaders turn up in suits and no bullet proof vests it sends an important message. It’s easy to criticise but their visits are not without risk, even if the Russians have withdrawn from Kyiv.

Samcro · 10/04/2022 09:15

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

Foreign leaders are queueing up to visit Zelenskyy because it makes them look good, and distracts from what a crap job they are doing at home. Our Prime Minister is a venal, lying, misogynist piece of shit without any moral compass at all and I wouldn't trust his motives on anything.

Selkiesarereal · 10/04/2022 09:19

Boris is a liar but so what if this trip has given a morale boost to the people of Ukraine.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/04/2022 09:21

i agree it is a morale boost
it is symbolic
and hopes there is no listening in from russians

PaperTyger · 10/04/2022 09:22

How does anyone think Putin feels seeing zelensky host anyone in the capital he hoped to take in a few days with the prime minster he hoped to kill Swiftly?

This sends an incredibly powerful message to Putin and the world, those looking on from India/Pakistan/ African countries etc.
Anyone who felt it more prudent to back Russia because they are so big and scary.

Looking at the bigger picture Ursula's visit/ Boris/ and anyone else's is great pr.

sashagabadon · 10/04/2022 09:23

I think it’s pretty impressive and the Ukrainians obviously welcome his visit and are happy with the support from the U.K.. one video I watched had a man talking to him saying it was the best day of his life, that did make me smile at all the grr Boris gang whose heads will explode if they watch the video Grin

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/04/2022 09:23

I don't agree with him going there; it puts him and those who protect him, and Zelensky, in an exposed, risky position and, to me, minimises the plight of those who are there who are in genuine, imminent danger. There can't be real danger. The meeting obviously wouldn't have been allowed to go ahead, if there were snipers/assasins in the vicinity, so I suppose that an orchestrated military action has taken place, by who knows what agents of other powers, to secure the area where the two of them are walking. Zelensky, hitherto, has kept a low profile and says that he is a marked man and a target, so lots must have been done, by sophisticated and unspecified forces, to facilitate that photo op safely.

To me it is showboating by Johnson and achieves nothing for the general good, only for his own profile.

He's a mystery to me: he became very ill with Covid, partly, he states, because of being unhealthy and carrying too much weight. Why has he piled on the stones again? Surely his wife can help him with healthy eating, and he should, in his role, have the self-discipline to keep to a calorie-controlled diet. I seem him as not, in any meaningful sense, in control

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/04/2022 09:26

it is good to show putin where our sympathies lie
it is good for morale of ukraine people

it is a good move, i see nothing negative about it at all

MrsLargeEmbodied · 10/04/2022 09:27

i think those that see negativity in this are simply determined to see negative in boris every way they can

sashagabadon · 10/04/2022 09:32

He’s definitely had a good week, what with Ukraine and his sex/ gender comments.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 10/04/2022 09:36

I reckon there is a rota of Western leaders planned to visit Kyiv. As long as there is another EU/Western leader there, Putin can’t risk attacking as killing one of them would dramatically escalate things.

sashagabadon · 10/04/2022 09:42

I think Zelensky has invited them all to visit Boris is first of G7. I am sure the others will too. Macron obviously got an election to fight first.

itsgettingweird · 10/04/2022 09:45

It's more of a living nightmare acknowledging the political party that hates women is the only one that knows what a woman is.

It's very worrying.

I've even gone as far as thinking because they hate woman that's why they won't recognise men who think they are woman - as woman.

Diverseopinions · 10/04/2022 09:49

It's like this is a country where people have been suffering and live in terror, and our leaders are doing a walk about with umpteen security staff supporting them, a literal visual walk in the park, with derelict buildings as a decorative, themed backdrop. Boris should be too emotionally moved to even go there, smile and flash his foolish face. These leaders should spend their time at home on the phone, doing something concrete to help people there.

Also, if Putin is unhinged, then I think that care, wisdom and judicious judgement needs to be deployed by other world leaders to tip toe sensitively and not unleash an angry, retaliative response, from a man who has his finger on the nuclear button and a lame team of advisors/co-governors surrounding him, and possessed of limited means to sway Putin's judgement. As analogy, if police are talking down a deranged gunman who has taken a housewife hostage, does the chief inspector go parading in his sight with the object of his antagonism? No: It is a delicate situation for the world, and requires enormous forethought of knock on repercussions.

listsandbudgets · 10/04/2022 10:00

I will not judge either way except to say I am sponsoring a group to come hereto the UK. They are currently in a refugee camp in Warsaw. The first I knew of the visit was a message yesterday which courtesy of Google translate read

"They say here your prime minister is in Kyiv with Zalensky..This is good for all Ukrainians and Ukraine. "

Samcro · 10/04/2022 10:22

@MrsLargeEmbodied

i think those that see negativity in this are simply determined to see negative in boris every way they can
not hard though
DGRossetti · 10/04/2022 10:26

I doubt the Russians would ever bomb where Boris is - they won't bomb their own. He could escort thousands of civilians to safety.

listsandbudgets · 10/04/2022 10:40

I think Russians would happily bomb their own especially if they were betraying them by having a friendly walk down the road woth the leader of a country they were at war with. They've not exactly lId off the ethnic Russians in Ukraine either.

Look how they treat their citizens just for taking to the streets to object. Brutality and imprisonment.

However I don't think they'd have wanted to be seen to deliberately target Johnson because the international ramifications would have been horrible.

I'm glad he went. This was both about sending a message to Putin and raising morale of the people of Ukraine.

Incidentally I did see stuff on twitter last night in Ukrainian suggesting Zalensky took him for a hair cut while they were out and about!!

BiggerBoat1 · 10/04/2022 10:44

They can keep him. Maybe he'd fancy driving a tank around for a bit.
