From a dog expert interview on LBC discussing the utterly awful, tragic death of the 17 month old little girl.

Following on from my post he’s just put up that there’s a party for his family and friends, but could they not bring weed or drugs because it’s the baby’s memorial
What on earth Sad

Agrudge · 24/03/2022 17:34

@Catswhiskers13

These bully dogs need banning and nothing will convince me otherwise. Not even an evidence based approach based on peer reviewed studies? Even the British veterinary association doesn’t agree with BSL.
It's like banging your head against the wall isnt it.

It's easier to blame a dog than make people take responsibility

If this is true it’s absolutely sickening.

These poor innocent babies who are born into families like this….. it just breaks my heart.

To be fair, people are blaming the parents complete irresponsibility just as equally as they are blaming the dog’s breed.

They’re doing a balloon release as well 🤦🏼‍♀️

“ The incident I witnessed was by a cockapoo”

@Kennykenkencat

I have no doubt that many small breeds can be nasty and badly trained. I’ve witnessed it too many times. However, the overall pattern is that certain breeds can do more harm and certain breeds are over represented when looking at fatal attacks.
I would feel more confident intervening if a cavalier King Charles spaniel went for my dog than a large SBT due to the weight and size of the dogs.

BoodleBug51 · 24/03/2022 18:34

That's obviously what they're crowd funding for.

And people have handed over thousands.......£3240 to date.

What the actual fuck................

Absolutely disgusting and unbelievable.
I did think it was bizarre when it was reported they had set up a gofundme so soon after her death, I’d have been too hysterical to even think about funeral arrangements.

I didn’t know until I read it on here yesterday that children’s funerals in the UK are actually free so there’s no need really to ask for money.

I’m just repulsed by the whole thing tbh.

BurgerKingAddict · 24/03/2022 19:40

@Babadook76

Breed has been confirmed as an XL bully. What a surprise
So the dog wasn’t a staffy?
EdithWeston · 24/03/2022 19:43

BBC article on the breed of dog

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-60866899

I hadn't realised it was only recognised in 2013

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 24/03/2022 19:46
@Agrudge that's not true about nanny dog it stems from 1800's when the after the dogs fight, the injured dogs would be wheeled home in the pram next to the baby. So that had to bred the dogs to be docile around kids.
Sorry, but Grin can you not see how utterly implausible this story is?

Tually · 24/03/2022 19:52

What a surprise it was another "XL Bully" same type that killed the 10 year old boy last year. The new fashion accessory for idiots.. Not a recognised breed, there a free for all for idiots to make a fortune 😠😠

Kennykenkencat · 24/03/2022 20:07

I thought it said Rottweiler in some news reports.

SaggyBlinders · 24/03/2022 20:11

This is from her mum's Facebook.

The fact that her parents bought a second hand American Bully XL dog when they had young children in the house is vile. Never mind setting up a just giving page to pay for her 'funeral costs'. Or setting up a fundraiser 48 hours after she died, and specifying no drugs or alcohol. Who needs to specify this for a baby's memorial?!

BoodleBug51 · 24/03/2022 20:13

Jesus wept.

That's truly horrific.

HotnSunnyRainbowRoses · 24/03/2022 20:16

From the BBC article:

The American Bully breed developed as a "natural extension" of the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT)
The breed evolved from the ABPT with an "infusion of several other breeds" including the American Bulldog, the English Bulldog and Olde English Bulldogge
I’m not being funny, but, if the law bans the American Pit Bull terrier, why the fuck would a dog that is essentially a pit bull cross be legal?!
It makes no fucking sense at all.
The American Bully was a mix of pit bull and American Staffordshire.
Plus small dashes of other bull breeds it seems.
If you are going to make pit bulls illegal at least do it properly FFS and don’t be allowing pit bull crosses.

It was a cockapoo who went for the little KCS. The cockapoo took 3 of us to get it to drop the KCS. It wasn’t a small dog

It is labradors that are responsible for the most dog attacks in the UK.

MrsBerthaRochester · 24/03/2022 20:20

I will probably get a ban for this but I dont care. What utter utter scum. Any normal human beings would be prostrate with grief but they have managed to set up fund raising events within the space of 48 hours? Its all attention seeking and nothing to do with the horrific death of that little baby. Scum.

toomuchlaundry · 24/03/2022 20:27

Aren’t labradors responsible for most attacks as they are one of the most owned dogs in this country?

Tually · 24/03/2022 20:31

Agree with your MrsBertha, we own multiple dogs so I'm not dog hater but this is as maddening as it is tragic. Anyone with half a brain cell knows what the game is, these dogs are yet another "look at me aren't I a big hard man" money making breed. So whoever says otherwise can stop with all the BS 'but but but' I saw a Cocker poo bite another dog. F Off these beasts are something else and can kill in moments and you all know they can. You can't fool sensible people and you're kidding yourselves if you think you're a decent human being for owning or breeding these dogs.

I hope after the parents make lots of money, they get sent to prison. There needs to be a deterrent to owning such nasty dogs.

You need a licence to own a gun in this country but clearly don't even need a brain cell to own one of these things.

I’m sorry to say I completely agree with you @MrsBerthaRochester
I thought it was odd at the time when gofundme was announced for funeral costs but thought funeral costs are expensive, maybe they really can’t afford it (though as you say, I can’t imagine a normal loving parent being able to think and organise things like that 24hours later) but then I learnt that funeral costs for children in the UK are free.
I agree, they are utter, utter scum.

HotnSunnyRainbowRoses · 24/03/2022 20:38

As someone else I think put it further up, they are toxic masculinity in dog form.
There is a young, heavily built, muscular staffy on my school run, entire with a ridiculous thick, heavy black chain draped over its neck.
Tbf to the dog, I’ve never seen any questionable behaviour off it, it seems friendly but it’s very obvious he was bought as a ‘ooh look how macho and scary I am’ dog.

I’m not on the mums Fb but I’m on the dads private one after he did work for me. He put a post that it’s been a nightmare, then immediately started hounding people for money. He doesn’t give a shit. And these American ‘bullies’ are basically pitbull crosses. They’re the closest thing you can get to legally owning a pitbull in the uk. Except they’re generally twice the size and strength
MiniTheMinx · 24/03/2022 21:43

Why are people so keen to keep equating Staffordshire bull terriers with American bullys. The American bully has American Staffordshire in its breeding, not Staffordshire bull terrier, they are different dogs.

Anyway night night from a very soppy staffie x boston
