Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, Antonio Guterres, Ban Ki-moon, Kofi Annan, Trygve Lie, U Thaant: all very cool names I think. Also know Ramsbottoms and an Ethan Dicks!

BlankTimes · 21/03/2022 01:01

I've known or worked with

Blackadder

Shee-Twohig

Arrowsmith

Christmas - if people queried the spelling, he'd say 'With an X'

Etherington

Angel

Flowers

Booboobagins · 21/03/2022 01:07

Definitely the names in the dirty joke... Fitzwilliam, Fitzpatrick, Fitzgerald, Justin but (don't fit) Tin.

I love Chinese names, Li is cool. Had a college mate called Yu.

And I'd love to know where Higginbottom, Siddlebottom, Middlebottom came from....

SpaghettiSquash · 21/03/2022 01:14

Bumgartner

Geronimo

Christmas - my colleague with the surname Christmas had a girlfriend whose surname was White. I always hoped they'd get married and double barrel their surnames but sadly it wasn't to be!

Wren77 · 21/03/2022 01:23

I have an awful first name (regularly discussed here as a name that would never come back into fashion) but an amazing second name (marriage!!). Whenever I meet people for the first time they always comment on my amazing name- which I love after years and years of feeling so self conscious about it. Someone once said I sound like a 1930s movie star. I'll take that!!

millerpie · 21/03/2022 01:30

Bun, her name was Pam so naturally as I child I thought she was called mrs Ham Bun.

Westfacing · 21/03/2022 01:39

Rainbow
Pine-Coffin
Pineless
Basket

RobertSmithsLipstick · 21/03/2022 01:41

If I was a Basket, I would have to marry a Case, so I could double barrel it.

EveSix · 21/03/2022 01:43

Bytheway, by a mile.

Spud1130 · 21/03/2022 01:49

@DragonMamma

I recently saw a Caunt.

I can’t imagine anybody not doing a double take at that.

I used to work in a job where clients were identified on the database by surnames. Had regular dealings with Mrs Cant who always spelt her surname first. "C A N T, Cant"

Also, several other surnames from said job...

Nomeots-Nomm
Ley-Toples
Handaside-Koch

Amd the old favourite, as chid of about 6 years old with a teacher called Mr Bottomley, you can probably imagine the delight.

Westfacing · 21/03/2022 01:51

@MargotsGreenBean

I was at school with a girl called Tabitha Tanqueray, which seems the coolest first name surname combo imaginable.
Winner so far!
RobertSmithsLipstick · 21/03/2022 01:53

A teacher called Miss Crump.

MardyOldGoth · 21/03/2022 02:32

I got a hospital letter from someone called Tchaikovsky once. I think that's pretty cool!

Worst I've heard is Foreskin. Apparently it's pronounced For-ESS-kin but I'm guessing no one ever gets it right first time! Grin

DyingForACuppa · 21/03/2022 02:35

Gunstone

Gaylord

undersleptagain · 21/03/2022 02:47

Rainbow

RockinHorseShit · 21/03/2022 02:50

Dearlove. He was actually Terrence Dearlove & was as fabulously camp in a Quentin Crisp kind of way, as that name dictates. I often wonder what happened to him. He deserved to go far

Curlyshabtree · 21/03/2022 03:23

Not cool but my favourite one ever is Squelch!

Kroot · 21/03/2022 03:36

Koolmeister

cigarettesNalcohol · 21/03/2022 03:38

Ace

And maybe not so cool but memorable... Wanklin

caringcarer · 21/03/2022 04:10

I know a man who's surname is Tombstone.

Tinacollada · 21/03/2022 04:18

How immense.

groovergirl · 21/03/2022 04:22

RedRec · 21/03/2022 05:01
