Being curious how many of you are thinking to vote Labour in May election just as a revenge to the superiority that carried by Tory?

I haven't done my research yet, so can't say certainly I'd do it. But they're lots of things we are not happy with the local council. Usually may not warrant a change of vote (probably just not bother to vote). But the whole partygate thing made me almost determined to vote Labour in May.

Tory didn't care what the public feel or think, carrying on to find excuses for their corrupted government. And that guy, that guy who's born as a natural lier, I can't even bear to hear his voice anymore. Something needs to be done, when their party refuse to change or at least show the public their remorse. I feel I need to do something.

How many of you feel the same?

Telling women they’re ridiculous is just more of the same dismissal

Redshoeblueshoe · 13/03/2022 19:54

Middle class 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

FourTeaFallOut · 13/03/2022 19:54

Is it because conformity is such a highly prized and necessary facet of the gender doctrine that posters think mere rebukes for wrong think will be enough to change people's minds?

Whatdidisay · 13/03/2022 19:55

Its not a wasted vote though? To many women its the biggest reason to vote at present, everyone has their own reasons to vote.
And don't think for a minute its only middle class women who are unable to vote Labour.

I think so. They're so terrified of being labelled a terf or a transphobe that they just conform to the groupthink. Whereas those words have no power over me anymore.
lakeswimmer · 13/03/2022 20:08

Any politician who cannot clearly and confidently articulate what a woman is with reference to biology is either:

  • Very stupid
  • Values the views of the Twitterati over common sense and safeguarding women

Either way they don't deserve my vote.

Does that make me right wing? I don't care what people want to label me. The joy of a secret ballot is that I can do what I want in the privacy of the voting booth.

OvaHere · 13/03/2022 20:20

No I won't vote for Labour whilst they're busy playing make believe. Last time I voted for them was 2017 and I'm not sure I will again. I consider this to be entirely their problem to resolve and win me back.

bellinisurge · 13/03/2022 20:30

This self-ID stupidity is what will make them unelectable. And you can bet your arse the Tories will play this card.
I don't care how criminally incompetent and vicious the Tories are, i won't vote Labour

MistyFuckingQuigley · 13/03/2022 20:34

Do you have any data for how many women/girls have been hurt by trans women? I suspect it's a hell of a lot fewer than women and girls have been hurt by men.

As far as I know the main perpetrators of violence against women are men, however they identify. Can you please clarify the difference between a transwoman and a man?

Xenia · 13/03/2022 20:37

No. Labour would be worse.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/03/2022 20:47

I don't care how criminally incompetent and vicious the Tories are
You really should.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 13/03/2022 20:48

I'd ask if you meant to be so offensive, but of course you did.

So you can't tell me the difference then? Shocker.
OvaHere · 13/03/2022 21:04

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

Do you have any data for how many women/girls have been hurt by trans women? I suspect it's a hell of a lot fewer than women and girls have been hurt by men. Are you campaigning to get rid of all men too? Will voting Tory help you there?

To reduce a decision about who to vote for down to something as lacking in subtlety as "Labour don't know what a woman is" is frighteningly reductive.

MALES IN WOMEN’S PRISONS: CONVICTIONS & SENTENCES
Who are these males who are held in women’s prisons? What offences have they been convicted of? What sentences they have received? How do their convictions and sentences compare to those of women in prison?

The HM Prison and Probation Service Offender Equalities Annual Report, which reports on the numbers of males without GRCs who identify as transgender does not provide any information about the categories of offence committed, nor length of sentence.

The most recent data on the categories of offence committed by male prisoners who identify as transgender was given in response to Parliamentary Question 98878 asked by Tim Loughton:

• 60% of male prisoners who identify as transgender, who have no GRC and who are held in the male estate have at least one conviction for a sexual offence. This is a very slight increase over the rate for the 2019 data, which showed that 57% of the 129 males who identify as transgender had at least one conviction for a sexual offence (FOI200615022). Note that the total number of male prisoners who identify as transgender, who have no GRC and who are held in the male estate is given here as 146.

This rate of 60% is far higher than that both for women in prison (around 2% of women in prison in England and Wales have been sentenced for sexual offences) and for men in prison (around 17% of men in prison in England and Wales have been sentenced for sexual offences).

• There is at least one male who identifies as transgender with at least one conviction for a sexual offence housed in the female estate.
We have collected details of 28 males convicted between 2014 and 2020 who are known to have been held in women’s prisons or have been given a place in a women’s hostel after release. However, the true number of males who have been held in female prisons is almost certain to be higher than this. First, we have only accessed information from 2014 onwards and we know males have been eligible to be housed in women’s prisons since at least the 1980s. Second, only those males whose crimes were reported in the media are included. Third, the place of incarceration of some males who we know have ‘transitioned’ and who have been convicted and sentenced to imprisonment is not known, even when the conviction was reported in the media. Fourth, males who have ‘transitioned’ but who were known to have been sent to a prison in the male estate could have successfully applied to be transferred to a women’s prison. We know that males have been successful in these applications and there is no reason to assume that all of these transfers to the female estate have been reported by the media.

Returning to the 28 males who we know have been allocated to women’s prisons or hostels, most were convicted of very serious offences. All but two were convicted of violent or sexual offences. This includes: ten who were convicted of rape or attempted rape, including the rape of children; ten who were convicted of murder or attempted murder; four who were convicted of sexual offences against children. Sentencing reflects the nature and severity of the crimes committed: ten were jailed for life; one was jailed indefinitely for public protection; five received sentences of between ten and twenty years. You can read about some of these males in Case Studies: Males In Women’s Prisons.

These are violent and dangerous males who are wholly unlike women in prison in terms of offending and severity of sentence. Evidence suggests that males who identify as transgender are clustered at the most serious end of the scale of male offending.

Lazypuppy · 13/03/2022 21:09

Considering in the last election labour wanted to get rid of our nuclear deterrant....no i definitely will not vote for labour. And the fact they don't know what a woman is...!

Orchidsonthetable · 13/03/2022 21:10

It’s a little bizzare that anyone would think that by telling women they are being “ridiculous” or that their rights are less important than the fact Boris attended a couple of parties in lock down, is in any way going to convince them to join them in voting Labour.

It’s doing rhe opposite and not just for those commenting, but for those silently reading this as well.

Bullying, belittling, or insulting women isn’t the way to get them on side. When will sone people learn that? We won’t be bullied.

Redshoeblueshoe · 13/03/2022 21:17

Lazypuppy Andy Burnham said that THIS week. I honestly thought someone was pulling my leg.
We absolutely need a decent opposition party.

ilovesooty · 13/03/2022 21:18

Who said women's rights were less important than the parties? I certainly have a lot more to be angry with the Conservatives about than the parties. They're a symptom of the contempt in which they hold the entire electorate.

Totally agree, it's always insults. Never anything meaningful. And to think I used to be a Labour supporter.🤦🏼‍♀️

The same can be said about Labour too (and LD/Greens). It contemptuous in the extreme to gaslight us all about material reality.

As far as I can see when it comes to voting right now it's either abstain or pick your flavour of poison.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 13/03/2022 21:31

@EatSleepReplete

Why should I recognise labour when they don't recognise me?

Sex and Gender are not interchangeable terms.

I completely agree but I’m not a Conservative voter and I definitely can’t vote for the current government.

I think I’m going to have to spoil my vote.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 13/03/2022 21:38

@Return2thebasic

I googled it up (not been reading news at all for a week). I now realised my post was created at the exact wrong time. Blush

Why don't the politicians see women are scared and angry?

I’ve wondered this. People traditionally become more right wing as they get older so I’ve wondered if Labour see their core voters as younger people who are more likely to believe transwomen are real women so they worry about losing votes. And it’s just women and their concern are not important. Labour were shocked at losing red wall seats recently. I wonder if they are completely unaware of what the country thinks.
TooBigForMyBoots · 13/03/2022 21:45

FFS, all these at least the Conservatives know what a woman is posts.🙄

What was PM Johnson's answer to "what is a woman"? The Conservatives no more know what a woman is than Labour do. You are being sold a lie by the RW press and you're all falling for it.🤦‍♀️

balalake · 13/03/2022 21:46

There are in most cases other parties than Labour you can vote for if you don't wish to vote Tory. Whilst all of them have many failures, the Tories are by far the worst, and if they lose a large number of council seats, perhaps they will get rid of their leader, the worst Prime Minister in our history.

lakeswimmer · 13/03/2022 21:52

There are in most cases other parties than Labour you can vote for if you don't wish to vote Tory.

The problem is that most of them are also incapable of articulating what a woman is. If that's a factor in your voting choice then the options are dismal.
