Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

springlobelia I used to live in Brussels and my heart would sink when my friend group chose to stop at a terrace with rickety looking weather-beaten wooden bistro sets half the size of an arse cheek. Of course all the men were skinny wee things, but for the female contingent? None of us the “right” side of 12 stone. We’d prefer the Irish bars with sturdy furniture built for women who carry bags of peat on their backs like pit ponies.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 23/03/2022 10:06

skirun I’ve got bags of scraps and clothes too awful to donate and I’m going to use them as stuffing for sausage draught excluders and “Indian pouffees”.

@Gazelda

Hello. Can I join? I'm waiting for DD to come out of school at mo, but when I get home I will take up some trousers, spend 10 mins deleting emails from my huuuuuge in box and phone elderly aunt for a chat.
Lovely projects!

Did another hour of branch and stick picking up in the garden to clear up from Storm Eunice. Still more to go tomorrow!

Boxowine · 23/03/2022 23:09

Today I removed and threw away all of the sauce packets that have been living in my useful drawer.

Oh, that's something I need to do too!

Today's tasks will be 10 more mins clearing my email in box, trim dead leaves etc from houseplants, put a washing machine cleaner product in.

RunningKatie · 24/03/2022 09:48

Today I am going to handwash a jumper. I love it, but it attracts coffee like a magnet and is definitely handwash only as my mum knitted it.

DressingPafe · 24/03/2022 10:23

I have a fairly free day today so I’ll be going out and carrying on with the garden, as the weather is lovely here. Apparently it will be back to cold for a couple of weeks after so will shift my focus back to the house then.

PierresPotato · 24/03/2022 10:55

I'm looking at a scatter of papers on a desk (not even a tidy pile) and I will do a ten minute timer on them today. Timer in place.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 24/03/2022 12:48

Gazelda thank you for affirming what I already thought. Some clothes ARE coffee/soup/food magnets and it’s NOTHING to do with me being a cack-handed old crone! 😂

Bit lame, but I collected all the shit from around my printer - you know, the stuff you printed in December and never ended up actually using - and cutting it down to shopping list size.

Also made smug bread.

I’m currently sorting through some work-related paperwork I moved house with… and probably should’ve recycled rather than paying movers to carry it…

SpringLobelia · 24/03/2022 13:56

Hello!

Today I organised a solicitor to sign a document proving who I am for some legal stuff I need to get sorted. I also organised a flower delivery for our niece who is turning 40!

Other than that I have not done much.

SoloSunrise · 24/03/2022 14:22

Hello all! I wrote a long thread yesterday, and clearly got distracted and forgot to actually post it!
Loving all the accountability Smile
Funny, I don't feel like I've done much, yet home is cleaner and tidier with no real effort.
As each project is tackled I aspire to maintain what's been achieved.
I'm finding routine quite soothing. I'm a natural scatterbrain and my head is feeling clearer.
I wiped down some paintwork yesterday. And pulled the telly out and dusted and used hoover attachments behind it.

I really must make some smug soup this afternoon. I think I shall make tin can dinner for tea as adhd tendencies will out, however hard I try, and I did not get anything out of freezer.

But, smug store cupboard rotation!

I am very impressed with all your achievements!
I hope you are all feeling similarly smug Flowers

I carried on with the never ending task of clearing fallen branches from the garden and had a big clear out and clean of my greenhouse. All the plant pots are sorted according to size and everything is swept and ready for me to plant some seeds. I also had an unexpected lunch at a lovely local cafe with my daughter who is home from uni - she had a cancelled dentist appointment so we made the most of the bonus time!

Seiheiki · 24/03/2022 22:02

Hi, may I join please?

Today I've boxed up and sent a camera to be valued.

Tomorrow I need to phone my car insurance company and take bits to a charity shop.

SoloSunrise · 25/03/2022 05:56

@petalpower that sounds like a lovely and productive day. Love the bonus lunch with your daughter. Those times are so special!

Hello @Seiheiki the camera being boxed up and send sounds like a great achievement! It's the sort of thing I can procrastinate on for far too long!

petalpower · 25/03/2022 08:11

Ah thank you @Solosunrise. It was really lovely as she is always so busy when she’s home from uni with her holiday job, seeing friends etc.

Gazelda · 25/03/2022 09:13

I failed miserably yesterday. But the sun is shining today so my energy is renewed.
So - 10 mins clearing email inbox; cut off dead leaves from houseplants; put washing machine cleaner tablet through.
And another one to make up for yesterday's sloth - respond to neighbours' WhatsApp messages about Jubilee Street Party plans. How have I ended up organising this? I really don't have the time.

RunningKatie · 25/03/2022 10:13

What a lovely day! I'm going to put a wash on and throw all ddogs blankets out for airing.
I made smug soup yesterday so need to blitz and freeze that for my lunches next week. We've cancelled our weekend visits as we're full of cold but DH and I are desperate to get into the garden, I am so excited for the fresh air.

Peridot1 · 25/03/2022 12:58

I didn’t achieve much yesterday. Or the day before really!

We have some friends coming for dinner tonight and they are staying over. Was supposed to have a cleaner coming for three hours today so was fairly relaxed and then she cancelled. Slightly fed up as it’s through a company and this is third week in a row they’ve let me down. End result is I’m running around cleaning and getting organised. Just having a cuppa before tackling the kitchen.

Thankfully the food bit is sorted.

I've phoned the insurance company! A 30 minute call that I'd been avoiding for weeks.
SpringLobelia · 25/03/2022 13:56

I have not done much at all today. I am working a half day and thought I would get stuck in, but instead have been watching tv. Blush I did persuade DH to put together a new chest of drawers though by the end of the weekend. Delegation counts right?

SkiRun0077 · 25/03/2022 15:17

Cleaning limescale off taps & de-hairing plug holes 🤢 but another tick on the to do list

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 25/03/2022 15:56

I powered through a bunch of admin I’ve been ignoring since the start of December. That’s £30/month saved.

SoloSunrise · 25/03/2022 16:03

Smug cooking, smug gardening, smug admin, smug delegating. I like it! Well done all round Brew Cake
I've done some irritated essential ironing. And been a shoulder to cry on x2 today.
Currently looking for a small project that is not too arduous, just so I don't let the side down.
Will report back when I've done something...
