Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

I've been picking through tins / jars of food and finding the ones with bb dates due for eating. Exciting times🤣.
Nothing from 2010 though!

petalpower · 20/03/2022 18:31

I dug the beds in the vegetable garden ready for planting potatoes this week. Also touched up the paint in the downstairs loo around the new extractor fan - unfortunately the paint I bought (in a very smug fashion) was the colour before last so I will need to re-do the job. I’m treating it as an undercoat rather than a total cock up!

RunningKatie · 20/03/2022 18:48

Just got in from a long, cold working day. DH is asleep on the sofa having kept the dc and ddog alive all day Grin
Tonight I'm going to menu plan the week ahead and write the shopping list.

User76745333 · 20/03/2022 19:13

Quite a good day today. I carpet cleaned two rugs and the bedroom carpet, finally plucked up the courage to wash the curtains and they're fine - phew!, pruned five apple trees (they're only babies so this wasn't as impressive as it sounds) and cut back two hydrangeas and some salvias.

DH has finished the airing cupboard and so once I've fed the DC I'm about to go and finally put all the towels and bedding back into it. They've been on the landing for way too long waiting..

SoloSunrise · 20/03/2022 19:15

Some real magnificence on this thread!
I'm loving the joyful presentation of projects, big and small alike.
I'm currently filling my shiny clean bath with hot water and bubbles.

Happy Monday everyone! How are the projects going?
I came down to a clean kitchen this morning and to celebrate, I took down my net curtains (I'm too mean buy blinds, don't judge me!) And put them into wash.
Just got in, so they are going out to dry, fingers crossed, and then my grand plan is to empty and thoroughly clean and air a kitchen cupboard.
The patio is yet to be swept!

I did loads yesterday but may have overdone it as lost all motivation today! I did manage at least to get out in the garden and do some sorting out there. Hoping to be back on form tomorrow!

petalpower · 21/03/2022 17:36

I’ve managed to achieve a lot today. Made some leek and potato soup, did a big pile of ironing, changed our bed and spent a lovely hour in the vegetable garden planting my potatoes, garlic and red onions.

AussieSue · 21/03/2022 21:52

Hurrah! I finally sewed the badges to DS uniform 🥳 Haven't finished but at least he looks like he's been going for a while, rather than a new starter.

Peridot1 · 21/03/2022 22:03

Leek and potato soup sounds yum @petalpower. May have to make some soon.

Another bag of books to the charity shop today plus a load of papers etc into the recycling bin plus a random bag of stuff into main bin. Also did some packing as I head back home tomorrow.

Now have some friends coming to stay on Friday so extra impetus to do some sorting when I get home.

RunningKatie · 22/03/2022 09:11

Missed yesterday, I was in a zoom meeting all blinking day Angry
Anyway, I did pair a load of socks, still got 10 without a friend though.
Today I've got a lovely day off and an epic to do list. First though, coffee! Brew

Nutsabouttopic · 22/03/2022 12:23

Thank you for starting this thread and giving me motivation.
I made a list of jobs that I can do, that will make life a bit easier.
Yesterday I bought small storage baskets.
This morning I emptied my kitchen junk drawer, yes the whole drawer. Threw out a lot of old batteries, used birthday candles, dried up pens and chopsticks which we never have used and never will. Repurposed the drawer for tea towels. Put everything I'm keeping into baskets, labelled them and now they are in a press which was not being used. The worst thing was it only took an hour and I have put it off for a year. Tomorrow I am going to reorganise my hot press by putting duvet covers inside pillow cases so not everything has to be pulled out when looking for a match

SoloSunrise · 22/03/2022 13:23

Hello! I gave my kitchen floor a really good clean earlier. One cupboard cleaned and aired yesterday, plan to do another today.
Husband is on board too, he's a couple of windows Smile

Friday Saturday and Sunday conflated into one Project - fetching S2 home. Completely unable to do any housework for three days, woe is me. Helped MiL finish her crosswords (mostly. Some things none of us knows).

Monday, hmm... I sorted S2's washing! and put on a load.

Today was basically a repeat of Thursday - finished off the boys' easter eggs. Oh, and bought shirts to finish S2's birthday present (in the sale and with a money-off voucher, so did well there).

Gazelda · 22/03/2022 16:13

Hello. Can I join?

I'm waiting for DD to come out of school at mo, but when I get home I will take up some trousers, spend 10 mins deleting emails from my huuuuuge in box and phone elderly aunt for a chat.

PierresPotato · 22/03/2022 16:23

I'm writing a list of bits to do in the next week. I'm now confined to barracks waiting for an operation and trying not to catch Covid. Food is bought in, cupboards are stuffed. Just realised I'll need slippers so I'm going online for those.

petalpower · 22/03/2022 20:08

Another busy day and managed to achieve quite a bit. Spent another hour in the garden this afternoon picking up branches that had come down in Storm Eunice (we’ve got lots of big trees) and making a start on clearing the greenhouse in preparation for seed planting. As it was a lovely day I washed the dog beds too.

I did the email culling and trouser shortening. Didn't find time to call auntie so that's on tomorrow's list, along with another 10 mins deleting emails and emptying all of the overflowing bins in bedrooms.
SpringLobelia · 23/03/2022 06:21

Morning! namechange for spring, [twirls]

I researched and then bought a nice aluminium bistro outdoor set for our tiny balcony. DH has been tasked with assembling it while I am at work. :)

RunningKatie · 23/03/2022 09:08

I've wiped down a shelf in the bathroom, need to empty and do the top one later. That's my lunchtime task.
Also washed ddogs coat, now need to carry that through the house to get it on the line. That can be my elevenses task!
Sometimes I'm not sure how helpful wfh is.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 23/03/2022 09:27

Bistro sets give me the fear. It cannae take me weight cap’n.

My client paid up and I immediately paid it all out on bills - but that made me happy.

Today I’m going to rotate stuff around the heated propagator, take some stuff out and plant some cabbage. I’m also going to start the no-dig beds. No point doing more as we’ve got snow coming in next week.

Grin

i confess I did spend a fair bit of time making sure it was sturdy for those of us who are sturdy of arse. (me.... at over 13 stone!).

I love being up to date on bills.

This morning I have ordered dog nappies for our very old very incontinent dog. That was inspired by another MN thread so hopefully will be a gamechanger.

Peridot1 · 23/03/2022 09:39

Morning all.

I’m back home now.

Need to unpack today.

Also need to properly wipe down the kitchen counters after DH being pretty half hearted while I was away.

Extra task today will be to do some sorting in spare bedroom to get ready for friends staying on Friday.

DH wants us to decide on some plants for patio pots and some herbs. Also contemplating putting some roses in front of a small fence. And we need to put some anchor plants in a small bed that is partially planted with various bulbs. So a garden centre visit is on the cards. Also have branches to pick up after storm Eunice @petalpower.

SkiRun0077 · 23/03/2022 09:45

Today I sorted the children top draw full of felt tips pens, pencils etc threw out a bag full old ones…. Only 5 more drawers of crafty junk to do Grin I sit at my work desk next to it so may tackle the next one on a long call.
Made curtains for little toilet room.
Generated 4 bin bags of fabric scraps from sewing boxes at weekend. However that now needs a tip run as no way of getting rid of them
