Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

I’ve also cleaned the kitchen cupboard doors @Solosunrise! Must be the day for it. I’ve also found out which colour paint we used in the downstairs loo and ordered a tester pot to cover up where I filled around the new extractor fan earlier in the week.

Morning all!
Must have been something in the air yesterday @petalpower Smile

I definitely have some painting to do, but I have this mad notion of getting my whole house clean and uncluttered first.
That's always been my stumbling block - it's a kind of perfectionism 🤔
It's not even that bad as I've been steadily decluttering for years.
It still finds it's way in though!

I have just cleaned fridge out and I have some vegetables in varying states of wiltedness on the kitchen counter, awaiting a magical transformation into soup.
It's going to be a pot luck kind of soup, but it'll keep my work flask filled for the week. Then I intend to meal plan then hit the shops.
I've been a bit slack about meal planning lately.
I love the cool sunshine of today, and I have the whole day off and the house mostly to myself.
I'm easily pleased ☺

@Lio

I have matched up all the Tupperware-type lids with their boxes, and put the unmatched stragglers in a separate place (I also have a drawer where odd socks wait for their other halves to show up).

I might not be able to achieve such magnificence every day.

I did this last week too! I was suffering with 'takeaway container lid confusion syndrome' but suffer no more... delighted 😉 And my next task...the cupboard under the stairs. I could find anything in there though!

Morning all. You are all doing loads.

I haven’t done much last couple of days as went to stay with my sister.

Today’s jobs are to sort more books to go to charity shop, clean the shower and wash down the bathroom door.

I also need to sort out the vegetable drawer. May be enough to make soup here too.

DressingPafe · 19/03/2022 09:26

I’m not working this weekend so planning to get lots done. I need to paint some more woodwork, plus another wall I didn’t get round to (just a small hallway one). Put some pictures back up. Tidy the living room. Might also grab some time in the garden weeding while the suns out. I quite enjoy days when I potter around doing bits and pieces.

I confess I am not doing alot today. My main plan is to go around my garden pots and scrape the barcodes off them! I will genuinely be quite happy with that!

It's cold and windy here and I am feeling uninspired.

Floralnomad · 19/03/2022 10:53

I’m doing nothing today except walking the dog and watching sport on TV ! I have however asked my husband if he can find the time to clean the windows this weekend , although he’s out today doing DIY a and gardening at my sisters .

User76745333 · 19/03/2022 11:04

Morning all. DH and I are putting shelves into the airing cupboard (our tank was removed and put into the loft).

This is a vital job since I currently have piles of sheets etc stacked up on the landing so it will make a big difference. I have a feeling it might take us all day though since there are lots of pipes in the way...

Mxflamingnoravera · 19/03/2022 11:09

I'd like to join, I've had three bouts of utis and the antibiotics left me wring out with lethargy. Yesterday I decided not to take them anymore, and as a result I cleaned the outside of my velux windows in my bedroom, they were covered in moss and roof grit! It's lovely and sunny in here now.

Today I've cleaned mould off the inside of my landing window, I've been meaning to do it for over a year.

I hope to cut the grass later, omg I will feel so virtuous if I get that tackled. I hate getting the mower out- it takes longer to get it out than to cut the small patch of grass.

RunningKatie · 19/03/2022 11:17

I'm absolutely full of cold and working a long day tomorrow too. Foolishly had already agreed to see PIL this afternoon, can't just send dh and dc for various reaons.
Just sat with a coffee then I'm going to buy some daffodils to jolly me up!

Solosunrise · 19/03/2022 11:43

Welcome, everyone ❤
Please do join in with the tiniest of projects!
Mine looks a lot today purely because I have a bit of brain space due to the cumulative effects of doing a small something every day last week!
Somewhere further up I posted a picture of flyladys 2 min suggested, so please don't anyone think you need to be repointing your house or cleaning out the entire fridge!

I have been stopping and starting this morning. My main achievement is the vat of leek and potato (plus random other left over veg) soup bubbling on the hob. Homemade soup feels virtuous, and now I have a week's worth of lunch and a smug glow to match.

I hope you feel better soon @RunningKatie, and the daffodils sound like an excellent project!

Have a lovely day everyone! Somebody cleared a dining room table and put flowers on it upthread. I love that! Tempted to do same but on my kitchen window sill.

I’m going to put smug soup in the slow cooker tomorrow. Grin

It’s gorgeous here today so I’m concentrating on enjoying that and have some smug washing out on the line.

Solosunrise · 19/03/2022 12:38

Smug soup! I like it Grin

I've had a great afternoon in the sunshine.
My little job earlier was using the plunger on the shower drain which had been slowing down over the last fortnight.
Very satisfying amount of gunk came out!

petalpower · 19/03/2022 17:03

Today’s achievement has been to clean the kitchen and utility room windows inside and out to get rid of the Saharan dust and general smeariness. Rather disappointingly the tester pot of paint to touch up the filled area has arrived but it has a small foam roller rather than the little brush I’d expected. I think I’m going to have to hack the top of the pot to complete my job but that’s a job for another day!

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 19/03/2022 17:26

I investigated a mystery plastic bag that’s been hung by the front door since September (???). Contained beach towels, so I’ve stuck them in the wash and will put back in the car.

IWanderedLonely · 19/03/2022 20:11

I have taken the (bedroom) sheepskin rugs outside and beaten them. Unfortunately I misjudged the direction of the wind.Hmm

Passanotherjaffacake · 19/03/2022 22:05

Had an idyllic day on the sun here with DH DD and DDog, so not many chores actually done. But I did manage to sell an outside table and chairs which won’t fit in the new place. Think we underpriced it as we had 264 requests for the table in the end Shock!

LadyCluck · 19/03/2022 22:08

May I join?

Today I deep cleaned the fridge. I’ve been putting it off for too long (disgusting I know). It’s now sparkling clean. Smile

3littlerabbitsss · 19/03/2022 22:41

Planted some seeds and bulb today. This means I will not feel sad when finding unplanted packets in December like I usually do. Feeling pleased with myself about this :D

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 20/03/2022 15:12

Smug soup, smug sauerkraut, smug bread and smug yoghurt.

Peridot1 · 20/03/2022 17:00

You smuggy Mcsmug person you @EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter! Grin

I didn’t do much yesterday but today I sorted a pile of paperwork plus some more books and emptied the bottles from the drinks cabinet. Which sounds like it may have been fun but consisted of emptying five bottles of very old cheap wine and fizz down the sink. And a bottle of Britvic55 with a use by date,of Sept 2010.

Made me lol (sorry) If it's any consolation, I made a very poor show of pegging a sheet on the line yesterday and it blew into my neighbour's garden.

You are not alone with the elderly booze @Peridot1. I seem to remember that was one of my 2021 smugs.

I had to go to work today but I did take a bag of grot out of car, and it eventually made it through the car wash.

DH mowed the lawn. I'm counting that as a win. I might clean the bath.
