Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

Well I didn’t get as much done as I’d planned yesterday but I’ll keep chipping away at it today. First lot of washing is done. Need to strip bed in box room next.

Still feel full of a cold. I’ll test later to see if I am negative now. Hopefully I can start to go out and about. A bit bored now stuck at home on my own!

And BA have cancelled my return flight next week so I’ve had to rebook that. Now booked with Aer Lingus. Who are also cancelling flights left right and centre. Air travel is so uncertain and such a nightmare at the moment. Rampant covid cases are not helping.

FoolShapeHeart · 30/06/2022 20:19

@SummerLobelia festivaling in southern England, so only semi-far-flung and tropical 😁

sounds lovely!!

I was inspired by you and have spent the evening trying to sort a holiday out. had the credit card poised when i made the mistake of running it past the DCs and DS1 started a panic attack at the thought of flying more than 2 hours and so i have book marked the easyjet site until tomorrow for review.

sigh.

Now I am developing backup plans. I did say i was keen on a 'Famous Five / Swallows and Amazons' type summer. I might be looking for tips on here. :)

SummerLobelia · 30/06/2022 20:35

@Peridot1 it is such a huge task you have to be sorting things out and going back and forth. You have been so resilient about it all. Thanks

StickyFingeredWeeNed · 01/07/2022 09:06

I don’t have any summer plans booooo but have volunteered to look after the school polytunnel and veg gardens. That’s ONE way to ensure I’m dressed daily. 😂 kids finish school at midday and my mood/soh will plummet.

I did a nice little bit of kitchen cleaning yesterday and am going to throw out some more useless clothes today.

RunningKatie · 03/07/2022 20:45

We are promising ourselves we'll try and leave the country next summer. Neither the dc nor I have passports so even that is an eye watering hurdle.
This weekend we've sorted beach shoes and wet suits. Now need to sell on what has been outgrown.
Also started to sort school uniform, 3 weeks of term to go. Some things will never be worn again 😥

FoolShapeHeart · 03/07/2022 21:09

Today's daily project has been finalising the EHCP form, not very enjoyable but I'm relieved it's in! And I've sorted out the present drawer as I've been browsing for birthdays and Christmas 🎁

SummerLobelia · 04/07/2022 13:46

Very best of luck with the EHCP @FoolShapeHeart it can be so stressful. Thanks

I have lost all motivation and inspiration lately but am plugging along with teeny achievements.

two further charity shop bags charity shopped.
and today I bought teacher gifts for the end of of year.
I also cleared out my car and need to take it off for a vacuum.

petalpower · 04/07/2022 15:19

I’ve fallen off this thread in the past few weeks but have still been reading what everyone has been getting up to! Today I’ve sorted travel insurance for our family holiday to Italy which is slightly complicated as I have a pre-existing heart condition. I’ve also posted our nephew’s birthday present and ordered some replacement parts for the garden hose which seems to be leaking at every connection.

Solosunrise · 05/07/2022 08:18

Morning all! I managed to lose a long post yesterday morning by nipping back a page to see you I wanted to quote 😩I forgot you can't do that!
@RunningKatie I will consider you my life twin as I was indeed drinking wine, though not in the garden but at a little restaurant celebrating my beloved's birthday! Was your cold coffee an iced one or accidental? I got very used to cold coffee when I had a houseful of little ones, and much as I miss those days, I do cherish the ability to drink a hot drink while it's hot now!

Well done for the EHCP form. I had to Google as I didn't know what it was. I hope it achieves what you need it to do Flowers
@SummerLobelia I hope you are feeling better. It seems you have your hands full with many things, so I hope you get your health sorted out soon. I salute you for your achievements, even though you might think they are teeny! Those little things add up!

@StickyFingeredWeeNed poly tunnel care sounds an excellent ruse for being dressed and out every day! I like that it's a temporary commitment too!
I'm enjoying the holiday chat on here! I'm hoping for a short break in Europe later this year and we have family staying in August, so we're going to do some days out to local places with them.

I have the morning off today so doing a bit of a flylady 'home blessing' as she calls it. Change sheets, dust with a feather duster (ie quickly), empty bins, wipe mirrors, get rid of the papers, run hoover round and mop floors. I've been doing it more or less for 14 years and it's the thing that's stuck. I'll never have a show home but it doesn't embarrass me any more!

OP posts:
fudfootedfannybangle · 05/07/2022 08:46

Fly lady needs to fuck off - she’s a relentless bitch! 😂

the polytunnel was fun yesterday but I allowed myself to be talked into scrambling over the wall rather than using the gate/entrance. All dignity gone!

I’ve discovered a use for the piles of “zip laundry bags” I’d flung in a cupboard I want to reclaim. I’m using them for stuff to go to the charity shop. Win-win! First bag done and scheduled a drop-off Thursday.

today I’m going to do my online passport. Huzzah! Had the photos done on Saturday and I look about 105 years old. Must remember to remove my glasses before looking at them.

Solosunrise · 05/07/2022 08:55

Haha morning sticky I mean @fudfootedfannybangle 😅 I know, I agree she's relentless and I unsubscribed as quickly as I subscribed, all those years ago. And yet.....
Her ideas are solid, so i use what works and ignore the rest, and i do owe my lack of chaos to her.

Everyone should do an undignified scramble at least once a day. It's what keeps you young 🤣

SummerLobelia · 05/07/2022 09:53

Morning all.

Thanks for the thoughts @Solosunrise I confess I am finding things a bit demoralising and grinding right now. I am starting to feel a bit better though now and at least can get through each day vaguely awake!

I had a quick look at Flylady. I need a proper routine to get into. I loosely follow The Organised Mum Method. Which reminds me that today is meant to be bedding washing day.....

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 05/07/2022 13:07

I have managed to sort out the drawers in my wardrobe, and have got rid of a big box full of clothes I never wear, to the charity shop. And I've made more motifs for my crochet blanket.

But the big news, is that I've become a granny! My lovely DIL (married to ds1) had their daughter on Saturday - 4 weeks early, but healthy and both doing well.

Solosunrise · 05/07/2022 15:05

Congratulations to you and your family @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius and I'm so pleased all is ok Flowers
Hello again @petalpower! Sounds like you're on it; I'm very impressed! I quite often remember birthdays. Sometimes I even manage to buy a card....then fail to send the damn things!
@Peridot1 and @SummerLobelia feel you both need a cyber hug and a nice cup of tea Brew

Tbf re flylady - when i was totally overwhelmed, I could not even look at it, but I parted from my pack rat ex, then the kids flew the nest, and it felt like time to get my act together. I've since acquired a lovely new DH who is not bothered about 'stuff', and only 2 of us living here makes the whole thing easier. But I have absorbed a lot of her ideas over the years, and DH does his bit too.
I get so excited about having an orderly home. He says he married me because I'm so easily pleased ☺

Congratulations @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius ! What lovely news for you and your family.@Solosunrise I buy cards in 4 month batches from Flamingo Paperie so they’re all ready to go. Pruning the list down a bit now as stamps are getting so expensive.
Today I’ve managed to get my 20 year old daughter to finally choose and order a dress for my brother’s wedding which is 2 weeks tomorrow. Now just the shoes to go! I’ve also potted on two aubergine plants that were given to me and planted some borlotti bean seeds that my neighbour gave me yesterday.
Impressed by everyone who’s managed to sort clothes for taking to the charity shop. I’ve got a pile of summer skirts and tops that seem to no longer fit (can’t imagine why?!) and can’t decide whether to eBay some of them or just throw the towel in and take the lot to the charity shop. At the moment they’re just looking at me from the spare bed. It’s such a faff to eBay them but the money would be nice!

Peridot1 · 06/07/2022 09:12

Thank you @SummerLobelia and @Solosunrise . Hugs and cuppas gratefully received!

many congratulations @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius . How lovely.

I’m still in Dublin. Ended up developing covid two days after I got here so had to stay another week to get things done and rearrange estate agent and photos etc. Felt pretty rubbish for a few days and then just very tired. But managed to get a bit done slowly. Roped my sisters in to come and clean on Monday and yesterday morning and the estate agent and photographer came yesterday so that’s now done. It was Dad’s one year anniversary yesterday so we went to the cemetery and then just had a takeaway here at the house with just my three sisters. A few tears and lots of laughs.

A window cleaner has just been so another job ticked off the list. One of my sisters is still here so we are going to tackle a wardrobe this morning and take stuff to tip and charity shop etc.

I go back home tomorrow and have to leave the house ready for viewings as it should go on the market before the weekend. I’ll def have to come back at least once depending on how fast it sells. Still quite a lot to clear. Including the attic. Not looking forward to that!

Looking forward to getting home. Lots to do there. We are supposed to be going to Greece in early August if the flights don’t get cancelled so I have to sort for that. Still sorting my wardrobe out.

FoolShapeHeart · 06/07/2022 10:54

Thanks @SummerLobelia 😊

Yesterday's 'job' was focusing on TinyFool for the day, I fitted in some laundry but a focused day together was just what we needed.

Today's job is to tidy the lounge, it's been neglected for weeks and has become a dumping ground while my attention was elsewhere. As usual I've been chomping at the bit to get it done, but now the time is here I can't seem to get started... 😠🤔🤷

RunningKatie · 06/07/2022 12:01

Congrats @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius
How lovely!

Today's daily project is "someone has put a tissue through the wash". Luckily it's rather windy today so I am hoping this will help blow the bits off.

Solosunrise · 06/07/2022 13:19

Aww @Peridot1 I hear you about the tears and laughter ❤Flowers We lost my dad a few years ago and what you're going through feels so familiar. We did not have to deal with flights though, and mum's still with us, although frail. Crossing fingers that you get on your well-deserved holiday!

@FoolShapeHeart time with the tinies is always well spent! Lounge can wait 😀

Solosunrise · 06/07/2022 13:22

I have some studying to do today, so I'm counting a bit of meal prep and the laundry from yesterday put away as a win.
I may get the fridge cleaned out and some smug soup started 🙏

I washed my filthy car today and hoovered it too. A hugely overdue task!
