Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

Hi everyone

Not much achieved here. I have finally unpacked completely. I think. Might be one packing cube left actually. Have been feeling really wiped out which I think is a combination of allergies and some medication I’m on.

Tidied yesterday for cleaners who actually showed up and did a good job so that’s a big win.

Today I’m going to sort the pile of stuff DS dumped in the spare room. Some unworn clothes which I could sell but I think they may just all go to charity.

Love the blanket @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius. Can we have a pic when it’s done? I love the sound of the colours.

Well done on the linen cupboard @SunnyLobelia. A satisfying job. And hope th reduced hours works well.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/06/2022 15:41

I’ve finished the cardigan for my granddaughter.

Oh that is absolutely beautiful @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius

What a wonderful talent to have. Thanks

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/06/2022 18:49

Thank you so much, @SunnyLobelia. Thanks

SunnyLobelia · 10/06/2022 11:15

Morning! Thanks @Peridot1 :) I have decided on Friday being my 'day off'. Although to be honest I am extremely dubious this is going to work. I feel like I am tinkering around the edges trying to make a toxic work situation 'better' but not really addressing the issues. Oh well. I'll give it until the end of the year. (I move at a glacial pace.... ) Grin

My achievements so far;

  • have arranged for a carpenter to come and give a quote for a very small job- making some cupboard doors. I ultimately have a few larger jobs I want done but don't want to scare the horses (DH... ) so will get through this quote and hopefully move to the next one.....
  • Have finally finally chosen fabric for a chair of DH's. Just waiting for the upholsterer to confirm something (plus their availability) and we are good to go.
  • Skip- the ongoing saga. DH has (as previously reported) finally agreed to the concept of a skip. However has made every excuse under the sun to avoid me getting one. The latest one is that he wanst to do an inventory of what we need to chuck. Never mind that we just need to get on with it, and also that we can always hire another skip after that if we need to. (Did I mention scaring the horses... Grin ). We have agreed that D-Day on skip ordering is next Friday. I'm not discussing it any further beyond that date. It's being done.
have a great weekend everyone! Thanks
StickyFingeredWeeNed · 10/06/2022 13:12

sdtg that’s amazing! 😍 I live in hazel tindall land, but I couldn’t use a knitting needle to Jimmy a car window, never mind create a masterpiece!

I can’t remember which one of you ORDERED me to buy a stepladder - anyway, it’s just arrived so I’ll be able to do those jobs without balancing on a chair risking my neck.

houseguests will NEVER leave (including my kids) 😂 - but eyes on the prize for the majority of July and I’ll be in my own and I’ll have the space to think.

RunningKatie · 10/06/2022 18:42

Love the baby cardigan, we love a Nanny Knit here. 😀
I've made some good progress at work this week which has really helped my sanity levels. This weekend is pretty intense so I need to tackle some housework tonight.

FoolShapeHeart · 10/06/2022 22:51

I've ordered the bulk of my sibling's birthday and Christmas presents 🤦🏼 It's a difficult job done (hard to buy for) but is going to add more clutter to the house until I can gift them.

Solosunrise · 11/06/2022 07:58

It was me who ordered it @StickyFingeredWeeNed 😅I'm pleased you did as you were told!
@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius I have such admiration for your talents!
@SunnyLobelia I salute your persistence with your DH!
@Peridot1 I hope your get up and go soon returns Flowers
@FoolShapeHeart that's quite some getting ahead you've got going on there! Well done!
@RunningKatie 'Nanny Knit' sounds so cute!

I absolutely must clean my car out today!
However I have achieved one small thing already today: my 'while the kettle boils' job was cleaning a shelf in the fridge!

ooh! While the kettle boils jobs - that is inspired!

Peridot1 · 11/06/2022 14:01

@Solosunrise - thanks! My get up and go has reappeared a bit today.

DS (20) has had a really bad case of food poisoning this week. Salmonella we think. (DH undercooked some chicken on the bbq at the weekend.). Thankfully he has an en suite. At one stage he was going every 15-20 minutes and ended up passing blood. He’s finally on the mend and came out of his bedroom today. So I got into the bedroom and blitzed it and deep cleaned the bathroom and changed his bed etc. cleared a load of rubbish out of the room too.

Now have a pile of washing and rubbish to sort out but it feels like a job well done.

Might attempt to read my book in the garden now for a while. Unless the pollen gets to me.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 11/06/2022 15:16

My get up and go has pretty much got up and gone.

I found out yesterday that I don’t have pernicious anaemia, which should be good news - but if I had had it, it would have explained my major symptoms and I could have had a regular injection that would have made me feel much better, so perversely, the news has left me a bit down. I guess I’m back to attributing it all to long covid.

But on the positive side, today is grey and wet here, so I have every excuse to veg in front of the TV with my crochet - and because it’s going to be a patchwork of individual motifs, I can do one or two quite quickly, and get a sense of satisfaction from completing something, however small.

Your poor ds, @Peridot1 - I’m glad he is feeling better now! And sitting in the garden with a book sounds like the perfect plan for the afternoon - I’d join you but my book would get really soggy!

SummerLobelia · 12/06/2022 16:07

Afternoon. :) Shiny new user name here. :) (Although admittedly there is a theme).

@Peridot1 I hope your DS is feeling alot better. Thanks

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius I hope you have a better week and feel better. Thanks

I have not achieved much myself this weekend. I have watched DH replace a sash window though today. The ropey bit snapped and we have been propping it open with books. He has done a brilliant job. I did a meal plan and helped DS1 prepare for exams this week.

RunningKatie · 13/06/2022 15:43

Afternoon all! I'm sitting on the sofa, large mug of tea in reach. I worked yesterday and am shattered. Been in a full day meeting today too.
My get and go is having a nap, I'm hoping to sneak one in too!

Peridot1 · 13/06/2022 17:37

Hello all

DS is much better thanks @SummerLobelia. (Like the seasonal name change by the way!)

thought I might nap today as I’ve been awake since 4.20 this morning. Early night for me I think.

Along with usual daily chores here I switched my winter and summer PJs over. Winter ones back in storage box and summer ones in drawer. Took ages. Well a couple of minutes! Grin

I was aiming to do some ironing today but didn’t so that’s my job tomorrow.

Solosunrise · 14/06/2022 07:08

Hello all! Pleased and proud to announce that my car got emptied of all the crap in contained, and I hoovered it too!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 14/06/2022 12:36

Well done, @Solosunrise!

I'm glad your ds is feeling better, @Peridot1.

I'm doing OK - better than last week. I was at my regular knitting group yesterday, which was fun as always - and I resisted the lure of cake and/or scones.

RunningKatie · 14/06/2022 12:39

I have a crazy list of stuff to be done. Frustratingly I took a car full of stuff to the charity shop and the donation container was full. It's all in dh's car so I need to move it into mine and drive it around for a week now!
I have managed to swap some shorts, buy water bottles and get the hand washing done.

RunningKatie · 15/06/2022 16:19

Today I wrote a to-do list for work. Eeek, that's not made me feel good.
I have gone through my summer clothes to get out what fits. Shockingly little, so also need to get my eating habits under control.
Being a grown up is over-rated today.

Peridot1 · 16/06/2022 09:59

Morning all.

your knitting group sounds lovely @SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius . I’ve knit a bit in the past but am not very good. Did buy some wool and needles at Christmas to make a snood so must hunt out a pattern.

I’m doing the same with summer clothes @RunningKatie. I have lost over 1.5 stone since the beginning of the year so mine isn’t as soul destroying as last year when I had to buy lots in a bigger size. Fitting into things I have been able to wear for a few years so I’m pretty happy. Although still a loooonnnngggg way to go!

I’ve been getting bits and pieces done. Sorted out the clothes DS cleared out and they are in bags ready to go to charity box this morning. Moved a load of my clothes from my wardrobe into the spare room so I can start sorting through them. I’m amazed the rail supported the weight of them there was so much packed in there. There is a whole other rail to do as well. Also went through the chest at the end of my bed where I had my summer stuff and it’s sorted into piles to wash or donate.

Also went to the dentist yesterday and am booked into the hygienist tomorrow. Big tick there as hadn’t been since before the pandemic and I can’t actually remember last time I went to the hygienist.

Solosunrise · 21/06/2022 06:51

Morning all! It's a glorious day where I live and I have grand plans for a bit of weeding, a sort out of my freezer and a bit of meal planning today.
I too have problematic clothes which seem to have shrunk.
I was once very petite but I've developed a more matronly look recently, so that needs addressing.
I hope you are all well!

Morning all.

Just saying hi. I have achieved nothing lately. Am oddly exhausted and ill and will have blood tests later today. Meant to be out at a work function later too sadly.

hope everyone is fine. :)

StickyFingeredWeeNed · 21/06/2022 10:10

Hello lovely ladies! I’ve taken the day off from work, put my dad on the plane yesterday and my kids are off for the day to a sports competition. I’m feeling ever so slightly in control… 😂

today I’m just trying to catch up on the basics of housekeeping including smug soup - do a bit of admin - I’ve got a pension form to fill in and it’s all Greek to me. 🤷‍♀️ Going to make a list of jobs today when I’ve got a long stretch of the house to myself next month.

need to go to the chemist today and pick up my meds. Honestly this 28 days at a time is rubbish - I always seem to spend about a week without meds.

RunningKatie · 21/06/2022 11:04

Morning! I too have the day off work, ddog and I have done a walk in the shade and I'm just having a coffee whilst looking at the ironing pile.
I'm feeling snowed under with tasks at the moment. DH is talking about going to the office one day and I feel a terrible wife encoraging this and then maybe booking the time off to get stuff done. I never get the house to myself and I miss the peace.
