Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

My DH took some of his stuff to the recycling / dump and took a few things I'd collected over the last few months. (I'm a lot more "decluttered" already than he is but I still can collect bits, some were my mum's old and bent metal knitting needles as she is also clearing stuff a drawer at a time.) Small steps.
The knock on effect is that now the recycling being gone and a shelf coming free I'm going to properly clear a surface. Hooray.

Gufo · 07/05/2022 12:51

Dd's room is being finished today - dh is doing it, but I'm bossing around project managing.

Thelnebriati · 07/05/2022 13:19

My windowsill boxes are coming along nicely. I got a garden waste bin and have removed 2 bin loads of garden waste that I can't compost. I dug out the compost heap and used it to mulch a veg patch, and have planted some potatoes.

RunningKatie · 07/05/2022 16:03

I have found my old purse, moved everything into it and binned the scruffy purse. Also hand washed a football kit.
Now to google slime stain removal.
We are having a takeaway tonight, I've not told DH yet!

SpringLobelia · 07/05/2022 16:24

Lots of lovely activities here!

I am flopping around moaning I am bored. Like a pre-teen. Hmm I am going to go and measure our landing as we need curtains.

DH has laid out the tiles for the bathroom, to show me what they will be like and they are much nicer than I realised. I thought they were plain white, but they are white and blue like in this picture.

Oh! @Thelnebriati you have reminded me I need to check how my chitting potatoes are getting on. Thanks!

Love those tiles!

Just put washing machine on a maintenance wash - it's new and I want to look after it!

Need to deadhead tulips later.

SpringLobelia · 08/05/2022 11:28

Thanks @Gufo !

RunningKatie · 08/05/2022 15:07

I've cleaned the washing machine, and also put away the winter hats and scarves.
Bound to be blizzards next week now!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 08/05/2022 15:13

I have been using duolingo to learn Latin, and today I hit a 100 day streak of daily practice.

Morning all! Another Monday....here we go again
@SpringLobelia I got sidetracked yesterday but meant to comment on your lovely tiles! I love blue and white like that.
Ooh @RunningKatie the washing machine is a good call. I took the soap dispenser out to clean it last week but haven't done a maintenance wash since...um...probably this thread's big brother was on the go last year 🤔

I’m prepared to accept joint responsibility for the blizzards because yesterday I both planted my peas out AND washed my very heavy winter bedspread.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell ya!

I took a leaf out of your book and stuck my washing in the dryer, thought of poor Greta.
Feeling a bit mean as I currently have the washing machine on a 90 degree wash, but in my defence I usually wash on cold

A @PierresPotato glad you're on the up and achieving good things Flowers

Sorry @Gufo it was you wot inspired me re the maintenance wash 😘

Gufo · 09/05/2022 09:04

I had the same thoughts doing my maintenance wash - I spend most of my time trying to cut electricity, but couldn't face the thought of my new machine going to ruin because I didn't look after it!

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 09/05/2022 09:24

Mine tells me when it wants a maintenance wash - and I always think what’s the point of doing Greta-washes then the bloody maintenance at a million degrees for hours. Sorry Grets.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 09/05/2022 09:25

Weekend win - got the kids to each pick 3 things from their rooms they’d like to bin/recycle.

RunningKatie · 09/05/2022 09:29

I did a maintenance wash too! 😂 Today I might run one on the dishwasher but I can never catch it empty. When we're in a rush to go anywhere, and I'm herding small people and big dogs, dh can usually be found emptying the dishwasher, guaranteed to drive me nuts as I never take the dishwasher on the school run but helping find shoes/coats is never on his radar.
Anyway, I digress! Today's job is to label some school trousers and discuss holiday clubs with youngest dc so I can book them in.

SpringLobelia · 09/05/2022 09:39

Morning! Thanks @Solosunrise re tiles. DH is booking a few days off work to finish them off. I am loudly admiring his efforts. ;)

I want to use my lunchbreak to sort out our patio in the aim that we can start eating outside. It requires some moving of pots and furniture and some general tidying. :)

SpringLobelia · 09/05/2022 09:40

(PS- I have never evern heard of maintenance washes for my appliances! I shall check that out today.)

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 09/05/2022 10:55

You lot are good and keeping me on track. I knew I was washing and saving ice cream tubs for something.

ive removed all the fishing tackle from my kitchen cupboards 🙄, labelled the tubs and moved it out to the shed.

Thelnebriati · 09/05/2022 13:49

This weeks job is to work out how to remove the drawer from the washing machine so I can clean it. The old one had a button underneath, this one doesnt seem to have anything like that. I will look it up online as soon as I can work out what the wretched thing is.

Solosunrise · 09/05/2022 14:13

@RunningKatie you're missing a trick, not taking the dishwasher on the school run! Never know when you might need it!
Your DH is a crafty sod!

I was so proud of myself when I mastered removing the drawer on mine 😄Mine's like your old one though.

@EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter yeah I do often think how attempts to save the planet are all such a compromise.
Eg, electric cars meaning so much more car construction.
People reducing flights: mayhem economically
Fewer children: who to shoulder future tax burden/be doctors, dentists and carers for ageing population?
Etc. I just don't see how we can sustain this number of people without doing the things that cause damage, so I've stopped fretting about it.
I tend to think we'll just wipe ourselves out eventually. The planet will be fine once we've gone.
