Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

I live at the arse end of nowhere, but can’t quite bring myself to part with ALL the 6” stilettos and party dresses (I need to lose 4 stone to fit into…).

but, I can probably ditch the 4 pairs of see-through tatty leggings or at least recycle them into stuffing for sausage draft-excluders.

I need to try and wear my good stuff - but then that lends itself to using the iron. 🤮

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 04/05/2022 17:09

I’ve actually done some more sorting - two more bags for the knitters/charity shop, and a bagful for the bin too. I think I’ve been fairly ruthless.

And I’ve found two more skirt lengths of fabric, and a mini pack of Lovehearts - so that is my reward today.

SpringLobelia · 04/05/2022 17:40

Still on the basics here Chez Spring.

But I did get the prescription filled finally (It's for adrenaline auto-injectors for DS1's allergies. Slightly important, but we have a problem pretty much every single year). Win!

I watered all my pots and saw that my alpine strawberries are coming back after a winter (and summer last year) of neglect. Win!

I have e-mailed a local secondhand bookseller with a list of books I am hoping they might want. I should just charity shop them but they are all hardbacks (I belong to a bookclub and while everyone else has kindle I do not and the choices are always new releases) so I would be happy with any money for them that I can put into my redecoration fund. Not heard back from them yet. (Hopefully a win!)

SpringLobelia · 05/05/2022 10:02

Today I have successfully delegated mowing, pruning and weeding to the gardeners. :)

I have a day off so am taking myself off to see Downton Abbey.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 05/05/2022 10:16

I managed to fix the mn site upgrade twattery on my phone yesterday, so that feels like a win.

I don’t think I’ll get any jobs done today although if I remove 2 items from my bedroom to bin, that’s a win.

enjoy the film!

RunningKatie · 05/05/2022 11:31

I've never watched any of Downton, is it worth it?
Mind you, I have enough trouble keeping up with Sewing Bee etc without adding more to the mix!
Today is a lovely day, so all washing pegged out. I am hoping the magic of the sun will remove a tomato soup stain.
My big task for the day is to try and shift some dried in slime from a carpet. Parenting is non-stop glamour! 🤷‍♀️

SpringLobelia · 05/05/2022 14:16

Thanks @EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter and @RunningKatie I really enjoyed the film. It was delightfully ridiciulous and such fun.

I am a big fan of Downton @RunningKatie :) It is just harmless escapist fun and I definitely relish a bit of that! (Although I still fail to understand why Mary has all the men fall all over her. ) Grin

Now I have a blessed half hour before the school run.

I hope the slime comes out okay!

Solosunrise · 05/05/2022 21:13

@SpringLobelia I am relieved that you got the adrenaline sorted!
I've turned a blind eye to clutter this week as been quite busy, and I swear it's been breeding.
I aspire to having a kitchen with clear worktops. Microwave and kettle only. I had it sorted but the clutter has crept back.

In my defence, I made some smug soup out of leftovers and cleaned my car.

Got rid of some outgrown kids' clothes (nearly - just have to hope the person turns up!).

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 06/05/2022 08:13

Ugh. I’ve got to make a feeble attempt at cleaning my car as my dad’s coming to stay soon and he’ll be using it. The shame!

my kitchen counters are a homage to unopened post, a multitude of small appliances, jars of smug beans/lentils, fahsands of seedlings waiting to go out - and a billion other things. As long as there’s room for a chopping board…

I think I need one of those IKEA kitchen islands on wheels so I can move some stuff.

I’ve got a busy day and this new job is cutting right into my time 🤬 - but I do like the salary… so for the time-being I’ll have to stick it out.

job today - have a quick rifle through kitchen drawers and throw three things out.

Well done! I'm useless at selling things. Charity shop is as good as it gets for me!

Ah yes @EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter finding the time to go to work is my challenge as well. My hours have increased significantly too, lately.
I'm taking comfort in my dad's old adage of 'if you want something done, ask a busy person'.

I'm finding myself being ever-so-slightly more efficient lately, purely because I've had to be. We're eating better and spending less thanks to a bit of smug batch cooking 😊

Has your stepladder arrived Edge?

Morning all. The occupants of Dinosaur house are finally on the mend so now I can get back to getting some extra bits and bobs done.

Yesterday that involved buying some stamps (ugh the price of them now!!) because May is a very heavy month for us birthday/anniversary-wise, and going to the charity shop to look for some baby bits for DD. I was after trousers or leggings and came back with a dinosaur T-shirt, tortoise romper and 3 new books 🤦‍♀️ Grin

Today I'm going to weed my veg trug and put down straw for the strawberries.

DinosaurRenaissance · 06/05/2022 10:08

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius I am envious of both your sewing skills and your Lovehearts Grin

Thanks @Solosunrise :) I am relived also. Barely a year goes by without there being an issue with supply in our area of some sort. I find it quite stressful.

I got our picture back from the framers and it is in situ in the hallways and looking very nice re-aligned.

DH has taken it upon himself to re-tile our bathroom. It will look lovely when finished and we have agreed to spend some money on new bathroom shelves as well which will be really nice. I think he has been (unknowingly) inspired by the thread because I chatter about the various projects I am doing. 😀

RunningKatie · 06/05/2022 11:26

This weekend I am going to find my old purse. I'm pretty sure I've said this before, and it's baffling me as to where it is hiding but my current purse is falling apart and it's annoying me.
Also, tomato soup stain gone, slime still dried into carpet. You win some, you lose some!

Gufo · 06/05/2022 13:18

@solosunrise I use olio to get shot of things - it's really quick and easy.

That's interesting! I must sign up again. Last time I did it I think it was purely for food but I gather it's expanded. Did your person turn up?

@SpringLobelia I'm so happy to hear that your husband is stepping up! Potential new shiny tiles in your bathroom, plus shelves, sounds really good :)

@DinosaurRenaissance I'm glad you're all on the mend and I'm amused the personalised dinosaur T shirt for the baby 🦕

I like that notion! Well done with the soup stain!

Morning all! Looks like another glorious day :)
Today I plan to clean my fridge and make some smug soup and have leftovers for tea. Various bits of things chopped and stir fried with onion or two, some garlic and served with rice.
Hungry already Grin

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 07/05/2022 07:39

Morning! It’s amazing here too! I’ve got some smug Asian chicken thing to put in the slow-cooker, hang out some smug washing.

I need to do the tyres and check the oil on the car.

smug beach walk.

I may throw caution to the wind and plant out my seedlings even though the weather hasn’t completely made up its mind - and being north of Scotland I’ve had to drag everything in on the last weekend in may due to snow!

I haven’t bought the step-ladder yet, so those jobs are waiting. I’m going to do another 3 things to toss out from kitchen cupboards today.

DinosaurRenaissance · 07/05/2022 09:03

Morning! I want some productive-sounding smugness. That degree of preparation might be outside of my scope at the moment though.

Today I'm going to cut back the fern border, which should have been done ages ago, and get on and buy DD some new sleepsuits with zips as she keeps getting her toes stuck in the gaps between the poppers of her current ones.

DinosaurRenaissance · 07/05/2022 09:04

@EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter I'm having the same conversation with myself about whether to put seedlings out...and I'm in balmy Wiltshire Grin I just don't trust May's weather!

SpringLobelia · 07/05/2022 11:56

Morning!

I am making smug sausage rolls for dinner. :) I am planning on brushing the pastry with apple sauce so marginally up the nutritional (and hopefully taste) component.

I have bought swim socks for the DCs. DS1 has a verruca that bazuka seems not to be touching and we want to go swimming when we are away at the end of the month. Thanks to the Power of MN I even heard about swim socks!!

Otherwise I think today is a regular organising day.
