Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

My daughter went back to uni yesterday so today’s task is to take off all her bedlinen. Visited my aunt in her nursing home this morning and am not planning to do much else today apart from eat Easter eggs! I might do a bit of weeding in the veg garden but don’t feel very enthusiastic about that at the moment.

clpsmum · 17/04/2022 14:35

Can I join! I've just finished a huge pile or ironing and am going to buy the kids shoes that I've been putting off for weeks!

Gufo · 17/04/2022 14:46

Can I join? Have been meaning to for a while and finally have the headspace.
Done some much needed weeding today, and will list some shoes on vinted later.

merryhouse · 17/04/2022 23:44

@SpringGeraniums I made some cheese and some cheese and broccoli (departed from the recipe by using the stalk, probably not as much as stated).

Previously I have had great success - well, I liked them a lot, though no-one else seemed particularly keen - with cheese and tomato. They might have liked them more heated up I suppose.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 18/04/2022 07:38

katie you sound very chipper and that’s great to hear!

Some of you have been going great guns, my results are less impressive.

Used duct tape to fix the handle on the steam cleaner which was one of the objects from under the stairs. Must’ve had a box dropped on it and there was a big plastic chip and so the handle kept falling off. So I fixed that. I had been aiming to Chuck it in the bin, but upon examination it was an easy fix.

It’s gorgeous here today so I will get some smug washing hung out.

SpringLobelia · 18/04/2022 11:15

Morning! I changed back to Lobelia as I felt very odd and not like myself!

Thanks for the muffin recipes @merryhouse I really like the look of the cheese and tomato muffins also. I think that is going to be a project for today. :)

I am currently sitting with our neighbour's cat on my lap and it is very cosy. Our neighbour had to go into hospital and so we are cat sitting. I am tempted to sit here all day.

Otherwise I need to do some regular tidying and then get sorted for the school and working week. DH is out with his mates from his very Outing Hobby ;) so i am taking the boys out for pizza.

It's a good day!

@RunningKatie hope you have a good day and don't feel too grim.

PierresPotato · 18/04/2022 22:05

I'm getting back into my day to day routines of housework. Doing more each day, using it as physio really.
Will have to think of an "extra" tomorrow. I currently have an eye on my jewellery box which is full of old mismatched junk from a previous era iirc.

Solosunrise · 19/04/2022 08:25

Hello @clpsmum and @Gufo yes the more the merrier! We all need a bit of accountability around here Blush

Hope you're all doing well! My project today that I've been putting off is picking up Ancient Cat's medication from the vet.
I have achieved empty pots for the geraniums, so today's other mission is to plant them!
Normal household routines are ticking along.

I also really need to shampoo the lounge carpet while it's still dry weather, but my list will start looking too much like hot yoga so I'll wait till I've crossed out the other two things before it gets added!

DCs are back to school, I'm sitting doing paperwork and watching a film I recorded over a year ago. Highly productive morning so far!
Covid round 2 definitely not as bad as round 1 but still wiping me out a bit.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 19/04/2022 16:59

Tbh I believe that watching a film you’d meant to watch 1 year ago still counts as a win around here.

clpsmum · 19/04/2022 17:02

I finally started couch to 5k today

petalpower · 19/04/2022 17:53

I’ve been to fill up the petrol cans for the mower and my daughter’s car. Also sent a parcel to my SIL for her birthday as our planned visit at the weekend was cancelled due to Covid in the family.

SpringLobelia · 19/04/2022 18:49

agreed. :)

I had the upholsterer come today to give quotes. They were shocking but reasonable. Now my next task is to go and choose fabric samples. Our sofas are more than 20 years old so on an price per use basis they are a bargain. :)

Also, DH and I both were able to kick work related projects down the schedule of the week and found ourselves with an afternoon when we could go and see a film. Operation Mincemeat. It was excellent. Jason Isaacs remains my crush.

OnaBegonia · 19/04/2022 20:12

Cleared and tidied the spice/condiment cupboard.

petalpower · 19/04/2022 21:03

I also washed the curtain that goes round the base of the sink in the utility room and tidied under the sink whilst I was there.

Mxflamingnoravera · 19/04/2022 21:32

I found moth holes in my linen tee shirts. So I emptied my whole chest of drawers, sprayed it with moth killer, reclined with acid free tissue and am halfway through washing the lot.
I've Marie Quando folded everything I've put back so far.
(Left my job last week and I have covid so I'm home alone)
More washing tomorrow.

RunningKatie · 20/04/2022 10:43

I've written a list, I am currently on a mission to get the dentist to answer the phone.
Hope you're feeling ok @Mxflamingnoravera

Passanotherjaffacake · 20/04/2022 11:05

I keep dropping off this one, but I am doing some daily tasks. Over the Easter weekend we cleared the front room of moving boxes and hoovered. We have decided to replace the carpet. Bought and fitted some curtains (the ones that were left here were 🤢). Looked after poorly child and did a fun Easter weekend when she was better. Absolutely scrubbed our en-suite which we have been putting off using as sellers left it absolutely disgusting and I needed to order some heavy duty cleaning stuff!

Not feeling great with pregnancy insomnia and a referral to fetal meds for an issue next week. So going to do low key projects this week as it’s all I can manage.

This week:

Today - shopping, eat left over curry, clean kitchen sides, start to deplete mountain of washing!

Thursday - in the office so will need to look presentable. More washing. Hopefully get the hoover round the house.

Friday - try to be fun mummy, maybe bake something. Midwife in afternoon.

Weekend - look at new carpet over the weekend/assess if we can pull up the carpet, sand floors and buy a huge washable rug instead.

Also potty training here - going really well but dealing with the odd accident when DD doesn’t have enough notice. Poor sausage. She is doing well though and the Easter choccy is definitely motivating her!

Mxflamingnoravera · 20/04/2022 11:17

@RunningKatie Yes I'm ok thanks, no symptoms now but still testing positive. Gov site says I'm ok to go out... it's day 6.

RunningKatie · 20/04/2022 11:24

I'm day 4 so still staying in! Feeling like I've got a bit of energy today, although that could be the sugar from a tidied away creme egg kicking in!

caringcarer · 20/04/2022 14:34

This morning I took everything off my tea/coffee tray cleaned it, threw away some old chocolate powder, refilled coffee and tea bags and wiped over all containers. Looks much better.

petalpower · 20/04/2022 14:44

I’ve phoned the vets to order monthly flea and worm treatment for the dog!

breakdown19 · 20/04/2022 15:00

I need to do this. X

Burnt0utMum · 20/04/2022 15:07

My washer dryer is broke! So today's project has been hand washing clothes in the bath and trying to get them dry whilst also trying to work 😩
