Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

Afternoon! Back home now and had a good trip away.

I brought home with me some original coloured drawings from Victorian times of exotic birds founds in the Galapagos etc. I plan to get them framed and put them in a grouping on our landing.

RunningKatie · 14/04/2022 14:32

I've started using a shower gel that I got in an advent calendar today, and I'm going to do a face mask and then put some wine in the fridge.
I love a bank holiday weekend!

SpringLobelia · 15/04/2022 07:50

morning!

Today I will take the new pictures to be framed. I also want to go and get some plants for my window boxes. They had lobelia in them last year but this year I am looking for something different. Suggestions very welcome! (I have no preference regarding colours).

Peridot1 · 15/04/2022 08:42

Morning all.

I always like geraniums in window boxes SpringLobelia. Your new pictures sound lovely.

Well done merrynouse! That looks like a lot of relief that the job is done!

Yesterday I made an up a spare bed and did lots of washing. I even rewashed everything in my ironing basket as it had been there so long! The cleaner was supposed to come but she cancelled so more cleaning in my weekend than I’d like now.

Todays jobs are DH and I going to Costco this morning, lots more washing as DS brought his very full laundry basket down last night - first load is on. I’m also going to make up the other beds and vacuum and dust the spare bedrooms for visitors arriving on Monday. And I’m going to iron the washing from yesterday. It’s a few shirts and table linens. And I might wash a window. And a have a guy coming this afternoon to measure up various windows for blinds and curtains.

Hoping to finish the day with first bbq of the season. DH is cleaning outdoor furniture and moving stuff around and starting to wash down the patio today.

petalpower · 15/04/2022 08:49

@SpringLobelia geraniums are always lovely and you can get trailing ones that will look lovely growing over the edges of your window boxes. Loads of different colours.

petalpower · 15/04/2022 08:50

Cross posts @Peridot1! Great minds think alike!

Burnt0utMum · 15/04/2022 08:53

Been away from here for a while as just haven't been very motivated over the Easter holidays.

I'm off work for the Bank Holidays now and think I just want to spend the day browsing the shops and getting lunch at a cafe with the kids. Depending what time we get home, I might decide to sort some of the kitchen cupboards.

SpringLobelia · 15/04/2022 08:59

Thanks! I like the idea of trailing geraniums. :)

WindyWilma · 15/04/2022 09:10

Great thread. Can I join please?
I have seriously neglected paperwork with one thing and another. I am going to collect it all up from various points in the house and deal with it.
File. Shred or Do.
Hope everyone else manages to do their jobs

WindyWilma · 15/04/2022 09:10

Plus wash some old curtains and put them away.

RunningKatie · 15/04/2022 10:01

I'm feeling overwhelmed with it all at the mo. Every room has stuff to be done in it, looks like the shower drain is leaking so that's potentially a massive job as it's stained the living room ceiling too.
I've stripped 2 beds and put the washing on. Now I've got a coffee and I need to take a deep breath before I dive in to the chaos.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 15/04/2022 10:06

I’ve got some smug soup on and have been collecting up shoes no longer fit for purpose to bin the lot.

I’m also going to make a start on the raised “no-dig” beds.

Every single inch of my kitchen counters is covered with seedlings. The other day I dropped a mug in a vase my friend brought me back from NZ 20+ years ago. Vase has gone the same way as our friendship. Sad to add insult to injury I’m going to have to dig the shards out of my baby plants. And find a box to put them in so the bin men don’t cut themselves.

petalpower · 15/04/2022 10:26

I’ve got smug soup on the go too!

Solosunrise · 16/04/2022 07:37

Morning all! Hope you're all having a lovely Easter weekend Easter Smile
I have 2 days off and I'm planning lots of little procrastinate busting projects.
I bought a new broom last week, and it made it out of it's packaging yesterday.
I need to do a bit of weeding.
Still baby stepping the loft/spare room.

I'm so glad we're all still here and apologies for my lack of engagement on this thread.
Thank you all for keeping me inspired Flowers

@SpringLobelia are we going to see a geranium related name change? Grin

Morning all.

Ive lots to do today. Didn’t quite get all my jobs done yesterday.

We have our neighbours coming in for dinner tonight so I need to concentrate on getting downstairs clean and tidy. Also need to go to Waitrose and prep food. Lots of yesterday’s washing to be folded and put away today too. Utility room is a disaster zone so that needs tackling too.

Happy Saturday everyone. Hope you all have a lovely day.

Burnt0utMum · 16/04/2022 08:05

Morning all, happy Easter weekend! 🐣

I didn't sort the kitchen cupboards yesterday as it was dinner time by the time we got home so I think that will have to be today's project after the kids swimming lessons this morning.

Yesterday, I managed to order some new water bottles for the kids for school as the last one went missing after 2 days. Bit of a frustrating purchase but hopefully they last longer this time.

SpringGeraniums · 16/04/2022 08:10

Great idea @Solosunrise Grin

RunningKatie · 16/04/2022 11:26

Love geraniums too!
I've tested positive for covid this morning so am banished to the garden, brought paperwork out with me but am feeling a bit foggy headed currently. At least it's dry and warm-ish.

Thursday - made muffins for Friday lunch and started hot cross buns
Friday - did church, twice (choir)
Saturday - made crackers and a Simnel cake; started mending jeans S2 fell over in

SpringGeraniums · 17/04/2022 06:06

Happy Easter to those who celebrate Easter!

Gut Yontif to those who celebrate Passover!

May i ask what flavour muffins you made @merryhouse ? I am trying to bake more. :)

I did not do a project yesterday but I did go out for a dinner with some friends which was a huge step for me as I have really lost my confidence in the past 2 years about going out and about. So I made some salads for that as my contribution. Today we will be doing an easter egg hunt with the DCs at a stately home near us. I am planning to plant out a beef tomato plant that I neglected all last year then left in our utility room and which has now grown like a triffid. I will keep it warm for a time yet but hope I might get a tomato this year.

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

Solosunrise · 17/04/2022 07:30

Morning all! Yesterday was a fail for me. No excuse, just lazy. I help a friend with her horses on a Saturday morning if not working, so that was my fresh air and exercise sorted.
I did a load of laundry, which was line dried and I'm looking out it now, yet to be put away, though DH did fold it into the basket. DH also did dinner, and I was meant to wash up, but I couldn't be bothered so that's waiting for me too Blush I read a lot of my novel though, and some CPD reading and note taking, so not q wasted day.

I still haven't planted my geraniums but they look quite cheerful in their little tray still.

Happy whatever you celebrate today, everyone Flowers

Morning all. Beautiful morning here for Easter egg hunts for those that do. DS is now 20 so we are past that. Didn’t even want an Easter egg this year. I have hot cross buns for breakfast though.

I’m currently in midst of clearing up after last nights dinner with our neighbours. Lovely evening and we managed drinks outside which felt very summery. DH has almost finished cleaning the patio and we put the garden furniture out. Hoping for an hour in the sun today with my book.

Today’s task is to make up a bed and vacuum upstairs. Also have to finalise our Sainsburys order. And tidy the living room. I think I’m going to be a bit ruthless and box up some ornaments etc and put in garage. And move two pieces of furniture into the garage too.

Hope you feel ok @RunningKatie.

RunningKatie · 17/04/2022 13:55

Afternoon all!
I'm hanging on, the plus side of this is the house is getting a good airing as I've got lots of windows open Grin
DH is doing an amazing job keeping everything going. I sewed a name label on a jumper yesterday, today I'm going to try and clear down my email inbox.
