Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

Morning all.

Lots achieved here again yesterday.

Two sisters and a BIL helped.

Back bedroom - furniture rearranged, tv bracket taken down, carpet thoroughly vacuumed, paintwork washed. Room looks so much better. Carpet is still pretty disgusting but it doesn’t look quite so bad as the worst stain is now hidden.

Bathroom - flakey paint on ceiling tidied up and grouting in floor tiles fixed - both BIL.

Landing - wooden platform that had to be installed for the stairlift we put in for Dad has been removed and carpet put back. BIL again.

Kitchen - all the crap taken down from top of kitchen units. Including a bag of some sort of plaster powder - so old the bag disintegrated as BIL moved it so it ended up everywhere. There was so much rubbish up there! Old hair straighteners belonging to my sister who hasn’t lived here for nearly 20 years. Hmm. Dad never threw much away! Also found some trim for the flooring and BIL was able to fix a missing bit in sitting area.

Living room - curtains and blinds taken down for plastering repair on Monday. Also window sill sanded and varnished.

Sis and I then went through box of family photos and sorted out into piles for each of us to keep.

Then we had lots of wine and a Chinese takeaway.

Today it’s a deep clean of the bathroom and a clean of the box room.

RunningKatie · 10/04/2022 10:29

Planned test Edge! We had a smoke detector outside the kitchen which was forever going off, when we changed it for a heat detecting one it was amazing.

Today I've got a load of washing on the line, another in the machine, I've done an online food shop and DH is ironing. I'm about to clean a pair of football boots that have been festering in the hall since before dc2 broke an ankle.

Peridot - it sounds like you're making amazing progress. The takeaway sounds very deserved.

SpringLobelia · 10/04/2022 11:24

Morning!

@Peridot1 you exhausted me just reading the list! What massive achievements!

I am exceptionally pleased with my achievements also. I have;

  1. Persuaded DH to suck up the issue of the skip
  2. Persuaded DH to suck up the issue of me getting quotes for the repair of a section of our porch which was severely damaged during Storm Eunice.
  3. Persuaded DH to allow me to change curtains in 2 rooms (the current ones date from when he was a child and are UGLY)
  4. Compormised with DH on getting our sofas upholstered - they are floral prints. He loves them I hate them. We have compromised on getting neutral loose covers made for them
  5. Contacted an upholsterer re the above and also about 6 dining room chairs that need to be done as well.

Next I have to take photos of the things we want to sell for our local auction house at their request.

These things represent enormous ENORMOUS strides for us!!! I am inspired and thrilled. I probably would have sunk into helpless apathy if it were not for this thread, so thank you so much @Solosunrise :) Thanks

Peridot1 · 10/04/2022 12:37

Thanks SoloSunrise and SpringLobelia. It was definitely a case of many hands makes light work! BIL is a bit of a whirlwind when he gets going.

Well done on your DH persuasion SpringLobelia. That sound very positive!

RunningKatie · 11/04/2022 18:04

How is everyone's Monday going?
Today I have sent an email to a dog boarder, been meaning to do it for ages.

petalpower · 11/04/2022 18:57

I’ve planted some more vegetable seeds in the greenhouse and hoovered dust and dog hair from under the sofas. Started a pile of old clothes for taking to the charity shop.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 11/04/2022 19:12

I phoned up an insurer to cancel my policy on a specific item. Then had a total 180 and decided to keep it. Blush

Solosunrise · 12/04/2022 06:34

Morning all Brew
So much progress going on this thread! @SwimBike007 I hope people are feeling better and you're staying sane
@SnowWhiteLobelia you started it originally- I just pinched your idea! Flowers I'm grateful for this thread and everyone one it. Even if I sink into apathy, a little thought springs into my head about getting at least one thing done.
Last few days I've been working more hours, plus had to finish a bit of online training, so my small things have been remembering to keep my flylady routines going. As a result we haven't disintegrated into chaos, we've eaten well and the loo is clean, so that's a win.

Delighted to read all the achievements and to feel among friends

Morning! :)

I will not be on until about Friday I am afraid. Taking the Dcs away for a few days and leaving all electronics at home. [bites fingers]. I can access MN on my phone but am a bit clumsy doing so so likely will not.

Loving this thread. :) I would certainly not have achieved as much without it.

Hope everyone has a great few days.

Solosunrise · 12/04/2022 07:42

Have a great time @SpringLobelia. Hope the weather is in your favour!
First day off in ages here and I'm finally going to plant my geraniums Smile

I was on the last thread and meant to join this one.

Daily project today is to book my car service & ring car insurance company. I have been procrastinating on both as hate these tasks. So, two projects!

RunningKatie · 12/04/2022 15:34

Today I've hand washed a top that I wore at the weekend, super fast turn around!
Also bought some radish and lettuce seeds, and tried to organise my social life.
And (!) gone through dc2's shorts and tshirts. Going to need to go shopping when the weather warms up!

Steady @RunningKatie you're approaching hot yoga territory 🤣

Aria999 · 12/04/2022 18:19

On Sunday I put together a wooden planter i bought on Amazon took the kids to the store to buy soil and seeds, and did some planting with them.

I am one of those people who can kill a growing plant at 50 paces just by looking at it so am not really expecting anything to come up!

Aria999 · 12/04/2022 18:21

Yesterday I tidied DS(6) room. As the cleaners are coming today. Haven't quite managed to finish DD(2) room but I need to work so the cleaners will have to cope!

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 13/04/2022 11:33

I have cleaned out under the stairs! Shock the day I moved in I had the movers stick stuff under there that I couldn’t think about. I’ve found camping stuff, mini trampoline, jumpstart kit, etc. Etc. Hoovered! 😲 then moved a new table and office chair in because I hate my dining table looking like an extension of the office. This way I can hang a curtain and don’t have to see it. All of that… and before 10:30. And I’m done.

PierresPotato · 13/04/2022 11:51

For the understairs cupboard alone: kudos!

Well done everyone.

RunningKatie · 13/04/2022 15:02

No chance of me doing any hot yoga or dinner parties today Grin
Does charging up two toothbrushes count as a project?!
I am going to email about some shoes I ordered a month ago, I've heard nothing but it was only a verbal order so I've not chased them as I was in no rush. Just wondering if I gave them the wrong phone number.

Peridot1 · 13/04/2022 15:33

Hello all.

Am back home now.

Sunday ended up being a very lazy day.

Did a few bits on Monday including taking some things to the charity shop, packing and cleaning the bathroom.

Flew back home yesterday.

Went for a pedicure this morning and had two corns removed. God I feel old! Not sure what it is about corns but it made me feel very old! Grin

Then realised I Go to Australia in two weeks and I hadn’t done visa application or worked out what I need to do regarding covid etc so did all that this morning.

Also did some washing and unpacked, held some bits of wood for something DH is putting together while he drilled screws etc. Now have the mattress protector from the spare bed in the washing machine and once it’s dry tomorrow I can make up that bed. Have family coming to stay in Monday.

About to call MIL and then just sit and read my book for a while.

petalpower · 13/04/2022 17:32

I’ve activated a new bank card that’s been sitting in my purse for a couple of weeks and added it to my supermarket and Amazon accounts. Planted some spring onion seeds, took my daughter for a haircut (bank of mum), phoned the butchers to order a lamb shank for collection and chased up a hospital appointment that I had nearly a month ago to see what tests are needed next with my gp.
@RunningKatie charging toothbrushes is most definitely a project!
@EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter the under stairs cupboard sounds like a good job done. And all by 10.30!

FoolShapeHeart · 13/04/2022 22:31

I got distracted looking for a particular CD & ended up clearing out some bags of clothes. Still didn't find the CD 🙄

Solosunrise · 14/04/2022 06:09

Morning all! I'm loving the variety of tasks that we hear about on this thread.
My toothbrush is currently on charge. Big ish project is for DH to move his office to a different bedroom to make current office back into a bedroom as we will need it fairly soon for a family visit Smile
Today, I need to get started on decluttering the loft once again so we can get at a bed frame that will need to come down.
Babysteps!
Have great day all Flowers

Today I have cleaned the filters in the dishwasher and topped up the salt and rinse aid. Also added a dishwasher cleaner to my next supermarket order. Things weren’t getting cleaned as well as they should and I think it’s my negligence rather than the fault of the dishwasher!

merryhouse · 14/04/2022 14:06

I have done a thing! Did it over Wednesday and Thursday so am calling it Wednesday's:

HaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHalo
sorted the booklet for the church annual meeting
HaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHaloHalo

Today I hope to Make Food for tomorrow Grin... made a start.
