Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

I’m so happy to have found this thread! I did post on last year’s thread and it helped get things done.

I have lots to do this weekend in terms of regular cleaning and gardening but the one off project will be repairing patio umbrella that died a bout 6 weeks ago.

Peridot1 · 01/04/2022 09:25

Morning all.

Enjoy your party @EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter. It sure I could cope wiith that these days! It would take days for me to recover I think!

So floors are done here. Look so much better. Life lesson - a steam cleaner is not great on polished limestone floors. Which is kitchen, dining area, sitting area, hall and downstairs loo.

Am slowly putting things back in place. The dust was pretty bad. Also got rid of some piles of magazines yesterday rather than just put them back under the side tables.

This mornings task is to clear the utility room so the Hilary’s guy can get to the window to measure. And a general tidy up as we may have a cleaner coming this morning at some stage. Been let down last three weeks so not holding my breath!

Changed my bed yesterday so have that to wash. Plus general laundry.

Also planning on sitting area for a new rug and hopefully order one and maybe a coffee table.

Hope you find the hamster @RunningKatie. We are similar with piles everywhere. Determined to clear them.

Burnt0utMum · 01/04/2022 11:00

Hope you find the hamster @RunningKatie.

I'm charging my video doorbell today and need to remember to put it back once it's full. Will be working some overtime today so time will be limited and want to do a meal plan and shopping list this evening so I can do a food shop early tomorrow morning. I had considered getting an Asda delivery but their prices have gone up for everything so I'm sticking with Aldi.

Gazelda · 01/04/2022 12:13

I've been a bit very lax the last week so not kept up with the thread.

But I've just realised I go on hols in 1 week and need to get my act together. Why do I least feel the need to get the house in pristine condition before a holiday? I wonder if I'm subconsciously worrying bout the state my family/friends will find it in if me, DH and DD die in a horrible and tragic accident while away?

@petalpower I'm loving that you clean your hob knobs. That's on my list for after work. And find envelopes for the randomly sized thank you cards DD has made for her birthday gifts. And, one more for today, arrange new passports for DH and DD.

lightand · 01/04/2022 13:37

any luck @RunningKatie?

Ours used to escape occasionally. We always got concerned he would find a floorboard to disappear under.

Got up one sunday morning, pulled back the curtains in the kitchen first thing, and there he was looking back at me! We hadnt even known he had been out all night!

RunningKatie · 01/04/2022 13:40

Still no hamster Sad
We've got the cage on the floor but I've not heard scrabbling today. I'm trying to be relaxed about it but DH and DC2 really aren't.

FoolShapeHeart · 01/04/2022 15:01

@RunningKatie good luck with the hamster hunt 🤞🏻

Wednesday I didn't do laundry or dishes but did sort out the bags of shopping that were sitting in the kitchen for weeks because I've been partway through reorganizing the cupboards since, um, the autumn maybe. Or even last summer. Yesterday I don't think I did anything (at all) Today I updated all my Facebook sales and added to extra groups and reduced prices. I've got much more to put on, but it's a start. Tomorrow's job will be packing stuff into boxes, either to get out the way so I have a clear space to sort in, or maybe to put in storage for the introductory 8 week offer my local place are advertising. I'm umm-ing and aah-ing and can't decide if it's the chance I need to get into a better place, or a waste of cash as I'll waste the time & have to bring them all back in 2 months.

If I remember correctly, hamsters dont wake up until around now? So he is likely asleep somewhere?
LemonDrizzles · 01/04/2022 17:49

I finally mopped in front of dryer. It's under the stairs, all the way back behind a narnia entrance full of coats.

RunningKatie · 02/04/2022 11:29

Phew, Hammy McHamster has returned. The little escape artist was in the loft, she's safely back in her cage. Everyone is mightily relieved!
Today I need to hoover dc2's room, they seem to have inherited dh's dust allergy. Shame they have a million cuddly toys.
Happy weekend all! Thank you for all your Hammy support Smile

Solosunrise · 02/04/2022 11:39

Thank goodness @RunningKatie!

Morning!

So pleased about your little hamster @RunningKatie

My main project is to get over a hangover. (Ill-judged decision to have a whiskey and soda after 2 3 glasses of wine. )

I am taking the DCs out for pizza though. I plan to wash all the school uniform and PE kit today as usually I leave it until the day before school starts and panic.

Peridot1 · 02/04/2022 12:22

Glad the wayward hamster has appeared!

Does anyone else have to look back at their previous day’s post on here to see what they had planned to do and figure out if they did it? Just me? Grin

So yesterday I ordered new blinds for the kitchen, utility room and DH’s study’s. Also picked a nice fabric for curtains for the living room when we do that. The guy advised waiting a bit for that as it’s a fabric that will be reduced in the next sale. Also clarified n my head what I’d like for the sitting area off the kitchen so will order that next.

And need to measure the sitting area for a rug.

Today I’ve done some washing, walked the dog, and finished moving stuff back into the dining area.

Next task today is getting the Christmas decorations up into the loft. And some more laundry to be done.

We’ve also decided to move a bit quicker in selling my Dads house in Ireland so I’m heading back on Wednesday to get it ready for going on the market.

LadyCluck · 03/04/2022 11:58

I’ve had a big box of old paperwork that’s been sat in the spare room since we moved house. Finally sat and sorted through it all last night.

Peridot1 · 03/04/2022 11:59

Can I have a drum roll please?

The Christmas decorations are in the loft! Finally! It took about 20 minutes. Why I had been putting it off I do not know.

Not planning on doing much today. Might change DS’s bed and do a towel wash.

Passanotherjaffacake · 03/04/2022 12:49

Fell off this thread for a while as we moved house and feels like we have been really productive since then! The new house was so dirty and disgusting though so lots of energy on sorting that. Each bedroom carpet filled a standard size dyson with dirt and dust Shock.

Yesterday my toddler came out with a chickenpox type rash - I’m isolating upstairs pending blood test results as my mum can’t remember if I had chickenpox (pretty sure I did). Feeling pretty miserable but thought I should get back into daily projects.

So for me today it is - clean the en-suite in the new house (which is quite minging, how did the previous owners live here?!!!), walk the dog, go to boots for itchy relief stuff for chickenpox (scoured old mums et threads last night for tips!) and make a nice dinner.

Feel rubbish as my poorly little one clearly wants her mummy and my DH is clearly exhausted. I swear to be more organised then my parents so she will know she had chickenpox!

Thelnebriati · 03/04/2022 13:04

I finally found a way to wedge the washing machine in place and stop it walking across the kitchen. I had to sacrifice my nipping out to the bin slip ons, totally worth it.

LadyCluck · 03/04/2022 13:19

@Passanotherjaffacake we’re just getting over two lots of chickenpox in our house. Poxclin did wonders for our daughters along with oat baths.

Well done! I have a packet of fairy lights that have been sat next to the sideboard since January. Think I’ll go and put them away.
petalpower · 03/04/2022 18:21

We’ve been away visiting family since last Thursday so haven’t been very productive. Back on it tomorrow though! Since I’ve been home I’ve wound the clocks and hoovered the family room though. Glad the hamster turned up @RunningKatie!

Burnt0utMum · 03/04/2022 19:17

I had a productive Saturday and did a deep clean on the washing machine. Today I've made an active effort to have some family time as I feel like there just hasn't been time for it recently. Kids are off for the next 2 weeks so nothing to prepare for school tomorrow but I'm working most of the days they're off so we won't be able to do much.

FoolShapeHeart · 03/04/2022 20:07

Yesterday I was distracted from my plan (it's rare that I do anything I planned, I need to make a plan to feel organised but then I can't do it because I feel obliged to 🙄) so instead of packing boxes I sorted out MiniFool's outgrown clothes to sell and cleared up in the lounge for an hour. Today I'm tempted to go straight to bed but I've turned the hearing on as it's freezing here so I'm going to fold & put away the clean laundry to give the house chance to warm up before I get an early night.

Peridot1 · 04/04/2022 09:14

Thanks @LadyCluck. It’s ridiculous how long I put it off.

Yesterday I changed DS’s bed and cleaned his bathroom. And did a few other loads of washing.

Today I’m changing another bed and have some calls to make to book some stuff in Dublin and some appointments for me for stuff before I go to Australia at the end of the month.

Also want to sort some clothes in my room.

@Burnt0utMum - you have reminded me I want to clean the filter on the washing machine. Although I could ask DH to do that….

Solosunrise · 04/04/2022 13:23

Hello everyone! I fell off wagon (and the thread!) I spent yesterday afternoon 'resetting'. Didn't take long because we're quite clutter free.
Today, back on board, I have made a low window sill look pretty. I hope to clear dining room table this evening as it's become a dumping ground again. I will put a table cloth and some flowers on it when I've finished Smile

I now have windowsill boxes with herbs and salads in!
