Another daily project

Last year there was a lovely long running thread about doing one thing a day that you've been putting off, or just to enjoy the cumulative effect of one extra daily 'thing'.
I'd like to start again, if anyone would like to join me.

Today, I have pulled out a drawer of a little used bureau cabinet, got rid of what is junk, and wiped the drawer out and organised what's left a bit more neatly.

I haven't put away the clothes or cleared the hall pile, but the rest is done including that dratted light bulb! Just realised I've not hung the clean laundry so will do that now before bedtime.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 30/03/2022 07:11

swimbike if only. I’m by the sea too but north of the wall. I wanna do the garden. wail

merryhouse apparently a Welsh doctor said yesterday that “people with no friends” don’t get covid. 😂 The health board later retracted the statement… but my plague free dad (living in Wales) thought it was hilarious and means he doesn’t need to get boosters.

Today I’m going to move my craft box which has been halfway up the stairs since moving week.

RunningKatie · 30/03/2022 09:24

Morning all!
Grey and damp day, I've chased a massive fluffy cat off the back garden. It's so beautiful but ddog would be furious if they spotted it!
I have also evicted a spider from the bathroom, we've been living in harmony for 2 weeks but I felt today was the day.
Apart from that, I'm going to find a home for the dc's craft stuff, it has been in a box since last summer. They may use it over the holidays, if I can get them off screens Hmm

Peridot1 · 30/03/2022 11:16

Morning all.

I didn’t do what I planned yesterday. Again.

But this morning has been busy. We have a guy in cleaning, polishing and sealing the floor tiles. So we had to move lots of stuff around and the place is now a total mess. But the floors will be sorted and as we put stuff back everywhere and everything will be dusted and sorted out. A good excuse for a spring clean. That probably won’t be until tomorrow though.

I need to nip to the supermarket for carrots for the dog later so will take the bags of clothes to clothes bank boxes.

Also need to change my bed.

May also see if I can get DH and DS to help get the Christmas decorations back up into the loft. Finally!

FoolShapeHeart · 30/03/2022 12:07

I have no motivation, hence MN scrolling 👎🏻 I'll check the other threads I follow then choose loud music and with luck I'll get two hours of something, anything done. Aiming for
1 more laundry
2 another dishwasher run
3 a task. Don't care what at this point, so long as I do something.

Burnt0utMum · 30/03/2022 13:16

Finished cleaning the fridge this morning and got a few other bits done.

There's just never enough time to get things done and working from home means I'm sitting looking at the things that need doing all day but can't actually do them.

SpringLobelia · 30/03/2022 13:36

I threw out 3 pairs of DC old and holey shoes! I'm not entirely sure why i still had them tbh.

Solosunrise · 30/03/2022 14:24

Hello everyone! @SpringLobelia have some validation from us Internet strangers that you are not being dramatic. #passes cyber cake Cake

I'm also near the sea and the tide was so high this morning that if it really does rise by 3m as predicted, it's easy to see how the town would be flooded Sad

So many things being achieved. I must go and scan some documents which need attaching to an email and sending today. This is out of my comfort zone as I'm not really familiar with this sort of thing but must be done!

Have had a constructive day here (after 3 days of not!) Bedding washed and changed, vacuumed and mopped the whole house, cleaned off the pile of junk on the kitchen bench 🥳

petalpower · 30/03/2022 17:54

Today I picked up and refitted some plastic corner covers on a clothes airer. It took about 30 seconds but I’ve been looking at the covers on the floor of a cupboard for about a year. No idea why I put it off for so long!

SwimBike007 · 30/03/2022 21:47

Still nursing migraine whilst working from home but in between calls washed down a wall with sugar soap as prep, want to paint the room next week. The prep seems to take forever the actual painting normally only a day. Touched up stairs paint work with undercoat. Ran out stream then as needed to finish a piece of paid work instead of house jobs. Still no snow it was 15c here today but did get a brief hail storm and power cut tonight.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 30/03/2022 22:26

petalpower a year? That’s amateur talk around here!

I think I’ve spotted a common theme. We let jobs get on top of us because we’re too busy staring out the wall at the sea or collecting sea glass.

On that note, I wish my bloody kids would empty their pockets because I’m sure it’s not good for the washing machine. 🙄

petalpower · 31/03/2022 08:41

@EdgeofSeventeenAndThreeQuarter 😂

Burnt0utMum · 31/03/2022 08:49

Today's project is to get all the washing and drying done then submit meter readings. Everyone make sure you submit your meter readings today!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 31/03/2022 09:20

@Lio

I have matched up all the Tupperware-type lids with their boxes, and put the unmatched stragglers in a separate place (I also have a drawer where odd socks wait for their other halves to show up).

I might not be able to achieve such magnificence every day.

Will the other halves ever show up, though?
I once had a bag of 76 odd socks - yes, I counted. At the time I blamed it on dds who never gave a toss whether socks matched, and evidently picked up ‘strays’ when staying over at friends’ houses. Or else the washing machine was actually eating them.
IIRC they eventually went to the textile recycling bin.

Today I will tackle a drawer of a small chest in the hall, which is stuffed with God knows what, inc. odd gloves (in case the other lost 3 years ago ever turns up) ancient make up, torches that haven’t been used in 7 years, etc.

SpringLobelia · 31/03/2022 11:08

Thanks for the validation @Solosunrise :) Thanks for the reminder about meter readings @Burnt0utMum !

Today we are going through a large stack of paintings to see what needs to be put up / charity shopped / sold. :)

Peridot1 · 31/03/2022 12:36

I agree you are definitely not being dramatic @SpringLobelia! Good luck with sorting the paintings. We too have a pile of paintings and pictures that we need to go through. Hopefully we’ll tackle it this year!

We still have the floors being done today so that involved more moving furniture etc this morning. Everything will be dusted and cleaned before being put back.

I also sat and did my brain dump list yesterday. Lots to do! Now if I could just find my motivation I’d actually do it!

Solosunrise · 31/03/2022 12:40

I hope you are feeling better @SwimBike007 Flowers

Thank you @Burnt0utMum!

@EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter you make me laugh!

Solosunrise · 31/03/2022 12:47

Keep up the good work everyone! Smile

Did you avoid the plague @merryhouse? Hope everyone is feeling better!

I have headache today. I've grown a backbone in the last few years and will assertively and politely defend myself from the sort of knobhead behaviour that I used to accept.
Twice now this week I've been accused of causing trouble, while the actual knobheads have been let off with a wry chuckle and a 'you know what they're like'.
I don't want to suck it up and be the bigger person. I want back up when calling people out on their poor behaviour.

Feeling quite testy now. Poor DH is aware, but it's his own fault. He's a fence sitter to rival Kier Starmer Sad

RunningKatie · 31/03/2022 13:42

I do agree with you @EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter - I'm wasting so much time. My inlaws say "oooh it's only 5 minute job" and it drives me mad, because "it" might be. But I'm working, the dc's need me, ddog likes a good belly rub and dh also works and has health issues. The 5 min jobs build up, become overwhelming so I hide in my phone.
Tomorrow I am starting a new work contract, more hours and I am dreading how I will juggle everything.
Truth be told, if I put my phone down I might stand a chance Confused

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 31/03/2022 15:47

I hear you Katie - I start a new FT on Monday and I don’t know how I’m going to cope. 🤷‍♀️ I haven’t had a FT job for 10 years and back then I had daycare and a partner!

Today I’ve done an important piece of admin I’ve been ignoring since August - partially because I couldn’t afford to deal with it - partially because I couldn’t be arsed.

EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter · 31/03/2022 15:54

In preparation for the new job I’ve put a new notebook in my handbag.

I could spend the weekend getting on top of everything… but I’m going to my first party in about 5 years tomorrow night and I intend to get “in a right state” and spend the rest of the weekend eating Pringles in bed.

I had so much mismatched Tupperware, I ditched the lot and now just recycle the tubs from the takeaway which stack nicely in the freezer too when batch cooking.

petalpower · 31/03/2022 17:52

I’ve taken the knobs off the oven today and cleaned them. Another job I’ve been putting off. Enjoy your party @EdgeOfSeventeenAndThreeQuarter - sometimes it’s good to get in a right state!

RunningKatie · 01/04/2022 09:14

We have a missing hamster, so are looking all over for them. It's made me realise how many piles of stuff there are all over the house. I've got 4 days off so as well as being part of the hamster search party, I am also going to tackle the piles.
I may need more wine for this.
