What did we see last night..?

We had been away for a few nights and travelled back quite late. Towards the end of our journey, this was about 2am, we were driving along an A road in a rural area when something crossed the road in front of us in full headlights for about 3 seconds. It was about the height of a person, maybe 6 feet or over, but had short powerful legs and hips which seemed to move in a circular fluid fashion. It was not a deer because it stood on two legs. This was in the midlands and the area is traditional rolling fields and woodland. In this particular spot there are no houses or buildings, nearest is over a mile away. We drove back today as its only 7 miles from home to look at the road layout and whatever it was moved into a wide bowl shaped field dropping down to a stream. Any ideas?

@JohnStonesMissus

Why do people keep saying Wallabies? The OP has said many times it's the height of a human..
Maybe they’ve been eating junk food and have super-sized.

Devil's Hill.

Laiste · 21/02/2022 18:59

@AhhWoof

I'm driving that road tomorrow.... will keep a look out!

Isn't there a ghostly coachman at Fawsley Hall? (Misses point of thread...)

That ruined manor house next to fawsley (on its grounds i think) has the ghostly coach.

I can't find Goblin Hill OP.

Is it nr Upper Shuckburgh?

WonderfulYou · 21/02/2022 19:00

Did you see it’s ears?

JohnStonesMissus · 21/02/2022 19:01

It's at times like this I wished I lived near Oxfordshire/Warwickshire. Mind you there's a few ghosts, myths and legends here in Sussex too. I can't wait for the update.

WonderfulYou · 21/02/2022 19:03

I keep thinking the only animal that walks upright properly is a bear or money/ape.
I can’t think of anything else.

Ciaram55 · 21/02/2022 19:05

Sounds like something Mr Ballen might make into one of his strange dark and mysterious stories (you tube) Grin

Moonflower12 · 21/02/2022 19:06

Our house ( not too far from OP) backs onto woodland. I'm now regretting this...
( as DP is out with DD and Ddog keeps pricking her ears to something outside!)
Strangely excited for updates though.

Rosehugger · 21/02/2022 19:07

Sounds like a faun, OP!

Not this chap?

What did we see last night..?

@BlackAndPinkNose

I used to live in Staverton. Not really relevant but a subtle placemark nonetheless
Every time I’m skimming through the posts and someone mentions Staverton I misread it as Savernake. And remember that creepy story…
Theunamedcat · 21/02/2022 19:13

@nancy75

Are there a lot of kangaroos in the Midlands? Grin
We have a safari park....
ThirdElephant · 21/02/2022 19:13

Has anyone said teenager playing chicken dressed as Slender Man?

Giant mutant wallabies. More likely than a fawn I reckon

cos they don't read the whole thread- just the opening post. Same as the 10000 posters saying 'Mr Tumnus'
whippetwoman · 21/02/2022 19:21

Ooh, i'm in Warwickshire, more Kenilworth way so not too far at all. Am also tempted to check it out this week but with DP as I am a giant wuss. I am extremely easily pleased though as it made my year when I saw a badger crossing the lane one night.

I didn't know about the white wallaby either, who is apparently called Colin. I was once at Colchester Zoo when a man accidentally let a wallaby nip out of the Wallaby Walk at exactly the same time my kids accidentally let a couple of goats escape from the Goat Walk. Reception sent a weary looking zookeeper to shepherd them in to their respective areas in a way which made me suspect this was a regular occurrence.

AthenaWhite · 21/02/2022 19:21

Have werewolves been mentioned yet?

BooseysMom · 21/02/2022 19:25

I have read the whole thread and it has to be a deer playing silly buggers! But it does remind me of an old house I lived in which was haunted by a giant white rabbit. It was a ghost rabbit and it was always on 2 feet. I never saw it but my parents were adamant it was real

dipdye · 21/02/2022 19:27
