Just seen the most horrendous video of a West Ham footballer drop kicking his cat across the room, then throwing things at it, then slapping it out of someone’s arms.

It’s being published by the sun, but what I don’t understand is, why when (quite rightly) the lady who slapped the horse was sacked, all West Ham have said was that they “have spoken to him and will deal with internally”.

Does anyone know if the cat and any other pets he has have been seen by a vet?

Surely that's imperative now. It should have been imperative the second that vile video by his brother was uploaded.

What no one has mentioned yet is that this is a man who kicks things for a living. Meaning his kicks have considerably more power than, say, mine would. Surely the fact that he can do this while laughing and letting it be filmed, over two occasions, means he is an active danger to those poor cats. I remember the wheely bin cat lady, and how she needed a police escort because of the hate she attracted (not excusing her at all). But how can that be ok and he be excused. I hope to god football get their act together.

All I’ve heard is that the RSPCA are ‘investigating’ and we all know how useless they are.
Hopefully the cats have been checked by a vet but I wouldn’t bank on it.

Essex police are liaising with the RSPCA.

They need to remove the animals from him.

Causing fear and pain to an animal for amusement is very often an early warning sign. It’s very well known as a behaviour that is common in serious offenders, including those who commit sexual and violent crime.

Yes they do as do their sponsors their attitude and arrogance is revolting.

I haven’t seen the video (can’t bring myself to watch it) but I agree he should be sacked, or suspended for a year at least. It sounds horrific.

I do find it hypocritical that John Terry’s career didn’t suffer even though he was found guilty by the FA for calling Anton Ferdinand ‘a fucking black c*’.

There does seem to be more tolerance for white players.

Many people who harm animals go in to inflict harm on people, too. I hope the relevant authorities are taking note.

Why would you do that to a defenceless creature?and appalling role modelling for how to treat animals to the small child (possibly a relative if not his own child) in the video.

As an aside it was a beautiful (and probably very expensive) bengal cat I think. Not that this type of behaviour is ok whatever the cat looked like!!

There does seem to be more tolerance for white players.

There are abused defenders on every corner unfortunately. For white players, it's more obvious because there a simply more white people in the country bending over backwards to protect them. Abused like Zouma have their supporters too - less quite about Greenwood because they'll get massive backlash for defending abuse.

Those that feel comfortable openly defending animal abuse exist. In this case, even vegans are willing to basically side with Zouma to prove their point (asking why we care about this one cat- siding with those saying it doesn't matter).
