Daily Haiku

Hello!

Anyone else fancy a thread where we write and share a haiku daily?

I used to write a lot of haikus. I find they're a good mindfulness exercise 🙂

I've just started writing them again about my baby son but will try to branch out into other topics.

Here is one from last night. Distracting the boy with a toy boat while putting him in pajamas (he's a wriggler). Title in bold.

Tug Boat
A toy boat sailing
The blue ocean of your sheets
Night night tiny boy

The mountains are calling
They're calling to my soul
And I must go

Butterfly oh why
Do you rest on my window
In February?

The time is coming
to go, your body is tired
sleep well, we love you

My daughter made food
At Forest School, she ate then
Offered some to me.

Spiders dwell in gaps
Where skirting boards don't quite meet
Like ankle grazer jeans

Spiders dwell outside
My garden fence is their home
At night they creep out

Spiders in my bed
My worry each night is this
A pillow scuttler

Spiders on my mind
Phobias aren't logical
I still feel silly

Chicken Florentine
For tea tonight was gorgeous
But I'm still hungry!

I started yoga
Thought it'd be relaxing
Oh my muscles ache!

Leftover Christmas nuts
Now in the hollow of the tree
Waiting for the squirrels’ joy

@BlueFlavour the image of a joyous squirrel is very cute. Also, on a practical note, this is a good idea for leftover nuts...

In the churchyard a
Blackbird searches last year's leaves
Look Billy, snowdrops

@ChocolateButtonsOfShame my FIL had a stroke on Saturday and he hasn't got long unfortunately. The haiku is what I want to say to him if he understands, I was there earlier

Haiku to my small children.

“mummy!! I love you!!”
“I love you too, may I please
Have some peace to poo?”

Tonight at sunset
The sky flamed pink red and gold
And soothed my spirit

Seem to need a wee
Bedtime approaches shortly
Can my bladder wait?

War threatens Ukraine
Apathy here in Blighty
Time to turn the tide.

Colin and Cuthbert
Two fun loving sweet treats with
A lot on their plates.

There's nothing like the perfect joy
Of finding a brassiere that fits
No more wires digging in! I am complete.

Two two twenty two
Not quite a palindrome date
Zeros are missing

The sky’s a perfect
Slice of underdone roast beef.

After the shower
among the drenched roses
the bird thrashing in the bath
