Strangest thing you have found embarrassing

I was waiting for a friend with a bunch of flowers for her. I found this so embarrassing for some reason! Something about standing on a street with a bunch of flowers. I also find having a baby bump cringe!

@MooChops89

Saying "happy birthday" and "merry Christmas" always make me cringe.

Also speaking my own name out loud

Totally agree with speaking my name out loud!

I work in a call centre, I have to say my name at every call and it sounds so damn ridiculous. I swear I spend my entire day bright red with embarrassment.

SingleHandSue · 23/01/2022 22:41

@cherrypiepie

This is weird : being seen leaving my house or being seen outside my house eg tidying up the garden at the front (it's only small buffer garden) or having to go to neighbours houses so this years Christmas cards did not get delivered!
Totally this too!

I’ve found my people ❤️

BowerOfBramble · 23/01/2022 22:43

Watching comedy that isn’t funny (ie most comedy IMO), I just cringe constantly throughout and end up with a knot in my stomach

@Julia37

Bumping into someone you know in a supermarket, greeting them and saying goodbye and then seeing them again in various aisles and probably the checkout tills!
I hate this and end up going a different way round to avoid 🤣
Beebopbopbopbopbop · 23/01/2022 22:48

I used to get super embarrassed in blockbusters choosing a video for some reason.

HopeYourHighHorseBucks · 23/01/2022 22:48

Forgetting something and having to do the fake check pockets, turning back round to do the walk of shame.

Walking past people, but not all the time. For some reason every now and then when I walk past someone in the street I feel uncomfortable, should I look at them? Obviously not because that's weird. Should I just stare ahead? Now i look like a robot? Pull my phone out and look like a screen obsessed twat? Tough choice.

Also running for a bus/train. I will let it pass me before I entertain the idea of running for it. Weird brain.

@Jacaranda75

Leaving a cinema when the movie finishes and everyone is leaving. For some reason, I always found this really embarrassing.

Also walking past a busker and worrying that my footsteps will be in time to the music.

I’m with you on the cinema one 😂😂
Beebopbopbopbopbop · 23/01/2022 22:49

Oh I have the cinema one too!

Ahh I have this to, especially the 'happy new year' and the 'you to'. Makes me cringe and I can't explain why.
BlackboardMonitorVimes · 23/01/2022 22:53

I totally get these. I hate it when you are meeting someone and you see them in the distance and do a mutual wave. The walk up to them is excruciating, I feel like I am walking stupidly and can't feel normal again until I get to them. Totally embarrassed by the thought of them waiting and watching me walk to them.

betwixtlives · 23/01/2022 22:53

i love this thread

Giggorata · 23/01/2022 22:53

The walking in time to the busker's music fear is very funny 😆… and too real 😕

I don't like weeding my front garden, either.

Perhaps the strangest thing for me was being taken ill at an event, in a crowd, and then being put in an ambulance.
You wouldn't think that life threatening situations had room for being embarrassed, would you?
Think again!

eleanorplease · 23/01/2022 22:54

Putting my wheelie bin out. So loud. And I'm always in my PJs Grin

Awkward chit chat whilst making a cup of tea for visitors.

RedCandyApple · 23/01/2022 22:55

I get the wheelie bin one as well, I always make sure the streets empty before I put them out I hate being seen doing it 😂

FuggyPidding · 23/01/2022 22:56

This is such a random thread, I love it!! 🤣

HalfBrick · 23/01/2022 22:56

Queuing with people waiting for the same uncool thing e.g ikea food bit, airport, theme park. Makes me feel like an unoriginal sheep loser. Also as pps have said- issues being seen outside my house, engaged, pregnant, getting married, basically EVERYONE StOP LOOKING AT ME.🤣

Yes!

I seemed to synchronise going up and down the aisles today with a total stranger, so I'd turn the corner and you could guarantee she would be turning the other corner coming up the opposite way. We ended up saying something to each other about it, and I felt so awkward I deliberately delayed walking on so we would stop meeting BlushGrinGrin

Million % this! I've actually walked straight back out of a shop before to avoid seeing the person again
ApocalypseNowt · 23/01/2022 23:05

Waiting for change after I've paid for something with cash.

There's an inverse relationship where the smaller the amount of change I'm waiting for, the stronger the embarrassment.

1p in change = hard cringe

Me too Grin
Jenbarbersshoes · 23/01/2022 23:12

Yes! I get some of these, especially standing in a queue and the supermarket ones.

Also, I always feel really embarrassed when I wear something new, particularly a new coat. Like everyone knows it's new and they're thinking, "Oh, look at you, showing off in your new coat".

Excitedforxmas · 23/01/2022 23:12

Queuing for anything . And making people stand up at the theatre so you can get to your seat .

goingback · 23/01/2022 23:13

used to travel for work to various cities so was always alone, always felt embarrassed eating on my own so started ordering room service to avoid . realised after a while that no one cares

TigerKat · 23/01/2022 23:14

Answering the door to a takeaway delivery.

catfunk · 23/01/2022 23:15

Singing happy birthday. I always mime.
