Just in case we need it.

My fear too is that he will ride it out.

I don’t think that is likely. Even if outrage dies down on this, there will be more unforced errors, because that is who he is.

Also, the leaks will continue.

FlouncingBabooshka · 14/01/2022 12:36

Sorry to spoil the fun but I think you must have all missed the news that Liz Truss has told us we all have to move on from talking about Partygate…

FlouncingBabooshka · 14/01/2022 12:38

Apparently, whilst they have confirmed they’ve issued an apology to Buckingham Palace, they are refusing to say what they have actually apologised for.

Hearwego · 14/01/2022 12:50

I’ve said this before. Patel and Raab are incompetent at their jobs in cabinet. They won’t criticise Boris because they have cabinet positions.
Boris doesn’t like firing people, no mater how crap they are. He wasn’t even going to fire Matt Hancock after he’d been having an affair.

UnconditionalSurrender · 14/01/2022 12:53

Johnson- like all narcissists when the shit eventually hits the fan, cannot see the bigger picture. He is splitting hairs over tiny legal details because that's all hes got. Fighting every fire like its a single burning tree rather the whole forest being ablaze. Coming up with ludicrous excuses and blaming others. The fact his authority is gone and he is a walking national and international joke will be lost on him and those that need him for his patronage.

JustJam4Tea · 14/01/2022 12:57

And now he’s hiding….

@JustJam4Tea

And now he’s hiding….
in a fridge?
TokyoDreaming · 14/01/2022 13:21

Love this quote from www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/jan/14/digested-week-boris-johnson-stumbles-across-a-much-needed-work-party

Alarmingly, his cabinet – with the exception of Rishi Sunak – are just as dim as they appeared quite comfortable with such obvious bollocks. No 10 was a special case, they said, because it was both a home and an office. Well, so is my mum’s care home and no one had a party there.

FlouncingBabooshka · 14/01/2022 13:28

in a fridge?

@purplesequins

Or maybe in a suitcase of booze?

Player067 · 14/01/2022 13:42

Why is Sue Gray the arbiter of criminality? Surely she should limit herself to the facts and the police/CPS/DPP should decide if there is any sufficiently arguable criminality.

I agree it will be a whitewash.

Player067 · 14/01/2022 13:43

Also why is BJ “isolating”? Current rules do not require this?

Kendodd · 14/01/2022 13:58

Johnson should go because he lied to the country about Brexit. In doing so he has damaged the UK, the EU and the stability of the wider world. He did this cynically as a ploy to further his own career.

I agree.
Putin must be so delighted.

@DuncinToffee

Tony Driver

BREAKING: No10 has apologised to Buckingham Palace after our story that aides attended boozy parties while the Queen mourned her husband.

Boris' deputy spokesman: "It's deeply regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning and No10 has apologised to the Palace."

twitter.com/Tony_Diver/status/1481962236088365056?t=9UrHDO_LviJOVfM9IkTWqA&s=19

So an apology for the timing rather than the party itself

So Boris has admitted that he let people break the law in his office again?
OP posts:
JustJam4Tea · 14/01/2022 14:27

When spokesman was asked ‘what has no 10 apologised for?’ He couldn’t or wouldn’t say.

AdamRyan · 14/01/2022 14:28

I really don't understand how it can be found not to be criminal
The government were very clear about "covid safe" workplaces and the laws on mixing outside work (I.e. illegal)
It's bonkers

Peregrina · 14/01/2022 14:31

Sorry, I am a bit thick here. If it was just a work gathering the day before Prince Philips funeral, what exactly are they apologising to the Queen for?

If it was a party, was it "Sorry, we didn't invite you Ma'am"?

AdamRyan · 14/01/2022 16:02

Why is the Queen worth an apology and not the rest of us?

DuncinToffee · 14/01/2022 16:12

We've got another one

EXCLUSIVE :

Kate Josephs, the former head of the Government unit responsible for drawing covid-19 restrictions, was given a leaving do in the Cabinet Office on December 17 2020 - the day before the Number 10 Xmas Party

YogaLite · 14/01/2022 19:43

Yeah, suddenly all those apologies look rather a cheap get out clause, surely there must be some consequences to follow?

Can there really be no consequences??

On another topic, apparently PM speaks to the Queen weekly, what on earth do they talk about when all this is going on, is it all about Andy Confused

Previous Prime Ministers have found their audiences with the Queen something they quite look forward to each week. She is apparently knowledgeable and thoughtful and allows them someone to talk to about whatever is on their mind without any fear that anything they say will ever leak out.

Now it has been reported the Johnsons were moving back and forth between Chequers and Downing St, against advice. Downing St comms had denied it until today apparently.

This seems pretty inconsiderate towards their staff tbh.

YogaLite · 14/01/2022 19:53

Was it when no one was allowed to go to second homes? Except Jenrick?

Apparently so.

YogaLite · 14/01/2022 19:59

@jgw1, which is well and good but in current circs I can't imagine he wouldn't grovel like hell.. how can they not talk about his mess? Unless maybe it's a small talk about babies and next year's jubilee Hmm
