Just in case we need it.

It’s no shock he is now having to isolate read lying low while suddenly the papers are flooded with juicier news of Randy Andy and a Chinese spy.

I can’t believe the woman whose name I forget had to resign over taking about the party and that arrogant Twat actually went to the party oh sorry work event and is still PM.

In Scotland I remember the medical officer had to resign in the early days of the pandemic because she went to her own second home with her own family it now seems a very minor rule breaking transgression.

longwayoff · 13/01/2022 23:23

Andrew Bridgen? Bloody hell. Bozo's toast.

longwayoff · 13/01/2022 23:37

Listening to rather tiresome Tom Swarbrick on lbc. He used to work at No 10. Has just said 'turn right when you go through the door into a room filled with banks of cameras, 24 hour video surveillance throughout'. And staff to monitor it of course. And a substantial police presence. So, there are no secrets, it just depends on who's ready to share them. Good luck Sue Gray, you'll be a Dame by Christmas.

‘ One was James Slack, Mr Johnson’s director of communications. He had served two Tory prime ministers, a rare carry-over from the Theresa May days, but was leaving after four years to become deputy editor at The Sun newspaper. The other was one of Mr Johnson’s personal photographers’

So now we know why the Sun doesn’t mention the parties !! Someone , obviously in the know, was being pointed about this on Twitter a few weeks ago.

TomPinch · 14/01/2022 00:09

My God. Queen mourns alone: Boris nurses party hangover.

Please let the shit Johnson be prosecuted.

But that's not the end. There will always be morality-free zones like Johnson. He wouldn't be PM if the Tory MPs hadn't given him continued support. They could have removed him any time. They are to blame.

Nordicwannabe · 14/01/2022 06:39

This leaking campaign is quite jaw dropping in its sheer relentlessness.

It does feel like a campaign, doesn't it? Who do you think is waging it? Dominic Cummings in revenge? A PM-hopeful ready to make their move?

It all seems a bit Game of Thrones. Democracy isn't meant to be like this.

rrhuth · 14/01/2022 06:51

I disagree actually. The media in a democracy must be free precisely in order that things like this get out to the public.

The alternative is secrecy or coups, both of which are much less democratic.

Democracy has always contained the possibility of electing a bad leader, as happened with Johnson. It is good that information is becoming public.

They could have not elected him in the first place. It is hardly news that someone who has been sacked for lying from several jobs is a moral vacuum.

This one is unlikely to be Cummings since he had left by then.

It’s the contempt and disregard for the population in general by those in government and hangers on who couldn’t even abide by their own rules that was relentless.

At least they are consistent. I will give them that.

Andrew Bridgen doesn't strike me as someone who'd make a move like that alone.

The other letters are from people who have clashed with Johnson previously.

Hearwego · 14/01/2022 08:22

If Boris goes there will be someone else equally as bad. It’s the same Tory party front benchers who are defending Boris.
If anyone else takes over, they will be just as guilty. Very few Tory MPs are calling him out.

Hearwego · 14/01/2022 08:24

Jacob Rees Mogg said something along the lines of the rules at the time being complicated, or something like that.
But it was this very government that implemented these rules in the first place and passed them through parliament.
Are they saying they don’t understand the laws they pass?

Notonthestairs · 14/01/2022 08:27

They are indicating that they want to re-write history/the law as they tried with Patterson.

Presumably they'll say the scientists made them do it.

Unescorted · 14/01/2022 08:27

@Notonthestairs

They are rewriting the rules to suit their agenda. It is Patterson all over again.

Unfortunately they forget Patel remarking on how she'd report neighbours for having a party. (Where is Patel's office out of interest?)

I'm also intrigued to know whether Dominic Raab was guest of honour (at the thank you party).

Home office is Fry Building Marsham St

This is such a key point.
Hearwego · 14/01/2022 08:40

Who and why is this coming to light now? It’s strange how these reports are coming through now...

Peregrina · 14/01/2022 08:41

Are they saying they don’t understand the laws they pass?

Almost certainly the case, because they probably haven't even read them.

Notonthestairs · 14/01/2022 08:41

I had to look up the Marsham St - nowhere close then.

Hearwego · 14/01/2022 08:48

Convenient that someone in Boris’ household has covid. Another excuse to keep away.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Boris made it up.

The press/free information is one of the pillars of democracy for sure. We rely on investigative journalism uncovering things that needs fixing.

But instead these days we seem to get deliberate campaigns to manipulate the public into demanding x, y, z. Social media - and news algorithms- are obvious culprits. But even traditional media seems to only reports on things which match someone's (?) beliefs and viewpoint these days. Perhaps it's a change in culture, perhaps just the financial pressure news faces these days.

Either way, I find myself doubting I've got the full story these days much more than used to be the case. And feeling thoroughly manipulated too.

It’s bizarre though as he doesn’t have to isolate-we all know this!

He didn’t follow any of the rules when they were in place and now is trying to follow rules that don’t exist.

He basically just does whatever he wants if it means he doesn’t have to work very hard.

Peregrina · 14/01/2022 08:53

In Mrs Thatchers words: Is he frit?

That seems to be the running theme with this government.

The Withdrawal Agreement for example.
