Am not trying to be Clichy, So forgive the reminiscing.... but my eldest is now 22 and I remember MN becoming a thing about the time she was born, and today she left home good and proper...so it feels over, the whole being a clueless mum thing. The questions on here are on repeat and yet the answers are both the same and yet different as mumsnet was the ONLY social media out there at the time!!.

I Do remember being at work and keeping on clicking on the MN website, where the chats wouldn’t change all day! And then there was an amazing first meet up of all the mums, and I couldn’t make it and felt a bit jealous!

Justine et co must feel so proud of what they have created now, and their babies must also be grown up too, as is this website. Who could have guessed this is where it would be?

No idea how long I've been here. Years though. Maybe since 2001.

Nononoah · 08/01/2022 14:51

Since 2012 for me and I check in most days

BackToWhereItAllBegan · 08/01/2022 14:53

I've been here around 17 years, it was a much smaller place back then and was comforting to me as a young expat mum overseas to keep in touch with life in the UK.
There were particular posters that I knew would always give good advice on certain topics, it now feels much more anonymous and quite mean at times. I don't think I would use the site in the same way if I had young DC's these days.

I joined in 2006, which was shortly after the whole Moldies furore if I remember correctly. Folk were smarting about that episode for a long time afterwards, which is probably what hooked me in.

sadpapercourtesan · 08/01/2022 14:54

Oh god the Moldies clusterfuck

And She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named Grin

Hobnobswantshernameback · 08/01/2022 15:01

Been here since around about all the Gina Ford shizzle
Didn't post for ages
It was a very different place back then

I've been since April 2012. I wish I'd known about MN when my DC were small, but the youngest was 12 when I joined.

I think you can only see your registration number when you are on the desktop site, but I might be wrong.

ISpyCobraKai · 08/01/2022 15:09

I lost a whole Christmas to Moldies!

BurningTheClocks · 08/01/2022 15:11

I’ve been here since 2008.
Came for the SN boards and the news analysis, now it’s the Feminist boards that keep me reading.

Yes it’s at the bottom of the Account page on Desktop - mine is just over 96000

Since about 2004 for me but have closed my account and started a new one more than once

SafeMove · 08/01/2022 15:20

I joined in the winter of 2002 when I was pregnant - I remember my first post was asking about what the GP had put on my sick note 'Hyperemesis Gravidarum'. I had no idea what it was, I was a alone, 23 and 25 weeks pg and about 100 women virtually held my vomiting pregnancy hand. It has seen my through two further full pregnancy HG periods, DV and various parenting crisis. Don't think it fulfils that purpose now. It used to make me laugh a lot too. There are a few posters I miss, pagwatch, icod, getorfmoiland, STD, gamerchick for the laughs.

newnamenewyear · 08/01/2022 15:30

My number is 171111, but this is my second MN account, my first one I started nearly 14 years ago, no idea what the number on that one was.

TheDrsDocMartens · 08/01/2022 15:40
  1. I was lurking for about a year before joining as I didn’t have my own computer or internet so only used it at my parents.
I0NA · 08/01/2022 15:45

I’ve been here since 2003 but I name change a lot ( one of my ex stalks me online ).

Latticeallure88 · 08/01/2022 15:54

I've been here since 2002 under various guises and my first (successful) pregnancy. Initially , I loved the Mumsnet "follow your pregnancy monthly development chart" and then I got drawn in to the talk section. And like a pp, as an expat, it helped me keep in touch with the UK and still does!

I always wondered what happened to the Mouldies? Did they sink or swim? I thought it was a bit of a rum move tbh and that Mumsnet is all the better for being bigger, with a broader outlook, with fewer queen bees.

I0NA · 08/01/2022 16:04

The Mouldies petered out after a while and some of them snuck back in here.

RallySooney · 08/01/2022 16:04

Agree that MN is all the better for being bigger with a broad spectrum of views and opinions.

The whole Mouldies thing was ridiculous. Big egos, quite a few snobs and definitely a lot of queen bees. I was glad to see the back of them. Quite liked Boco though, she seemed okay.

TanteRose · 08/01/2022 16:06

Oh yes as an overseas MNer, the talkboards have really kept me up to date with the UK over the last decade and a half Smile

Moldies was Christmas 2008.
tiredanddangerous · 08/01/2022 16:11

I joined just in time for the Moldies Christmas. I hate to think how many hours/days/weeks I've wasted on here Blush

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 08/01/2022 16:12

It is much better now the Queen bee thing isn't as much of an issue. The fawning and constant 'who are your favourite posters, who do you miss?' threads were tedious.

WhatTheWhoTheWhatThe · 08/01/2022 16:13

Been here since 2005 remember the pram huns and the threads for those whose kids did child modelling (they’re was a less than complimentary name for them but I forget what it was)

SoupDragon · 08/01/2022 16:16

Not quite - I think I was a newbie in 2002.

Peaseblossum22 · 08/01/2022 16:16

Yes I’ve been here since about 2001,remember when you could be in a conversation with about 5 people . There are some stories that I remember even now . It felt like you were participating in something special then and everyone sort of knew each other . I have had loads of names over the years including bourboncreme, can’t remember what the first was
