Am not trying to be Clichy, So forgive the reminiscing.... but my eldest is now 22 and I remember MN becoming a thing about the time she was born, and today she left home good and proper...so it feels over, the whole being a clueless mum thing. The questions on here are on repeat and yet the answers are both the same and yet different as mumsnet was the ONLY social media out there at the time!!.

I Do remember being at work and keeping on clicking on the MN website, where the chats wouldn’t change all day! And then there was an amazing first meet up of all the mums, and I couldn’t make it and felt a bit jealous!

Justine et co must feel so proud of what they have created now, and their babies must also be grown up too, as is this website. Who could have guessed this is where it would be?

@SoupDragon

I've had a few* "throwaway" user names
  • loads and loads and loads 😂 mostly for joke threads
Recognise your name!!
Wafflesnsniffles · 12/01/2022 14:13

Ive been here since september 2004 :)

Maggiesgirl · 13/01/2022 14:15

I recognise lots of the names from the early 2000's. I had a variation of the same name for most of the time, but have changed completely now as was quite easily identifiable.

I remember working in marketing and running a competition for the company I was working for on MN. We wanted to have a partnership with MN and got a meeting with Justine but she cancelled at the last minute and sent a colleague. I was gutted 😂 ... such a fangirl!

We gave some MN users an invite to our launch party with some goodies as the prize. That was kinda cool 😎

Joined in 2001, when DDs were 4 and 2, user number 3510. Have had the same user name ever since (some thread-specific name changes though). Went to a meet up in London & also a couple (I think) in Cardiff. Have been here pretty much all of the time over the last 20 years & my DDs are both members now (neither has a child yet!). Am FB friends with some of the other "old timers" but was never invited to Moldies & was a little miffed by that.

Does anyone remember a poster in Japan who was trying to get back to the UK with her child & without her DH knowing? It was over Christmas probably about 15 years ago? We all got very invested, but I think in the end she turned out to be a troll 😔

I have actually just remembered that I was contacted many years ago by MN as I spoke about a company many people had problems with in home renovation. I pointed out the company had many bad reviews in MN. Company we’re going to sue (me or MN) and they asked me to remove my post! You could see other posters also were threatened by the company as we had all removed our posts!

I came here when ds was a baby with eczema, looking for a miracle cure. He's 20 now

He was allergic to banana btw !

Maggiesgirl · 21/01/2022 06:32

Kbear I remember you well. We often used to talk, although I was under a different name then. I was CM then.

HelpMePlease74 · 23/01/2022 13:36

I had probably over 50 women virtually holding my hand the night before and the day I left my abusive relationship on October 2020 - and checking in after!! Wouldn’t have done it without them all xx

hanahsaunt · 23/01/2022 13:53

I joined in at the end of 2000 when ds1 was 3mo.

MotherofOne · 25/01/2022 15:09

I've been here since the beginning! My registration number was in the first few hundred I think? Must have joined about 1999/2000 when my DS was born (hence the username!)
It has changed so much. People used to write such long, thought out replies, there was no swearing and you definitely felt you 'knew' other MNers! (Waves at @SoupDragon !)
I've had a fair few name changes throughout the years as I realised I was discoverable by people who knew me otherwise.
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the site these days - I disappear for a while, but come back months later when there's a burning issue I need a POV on Grin!

Whattheduck · 25/01/2022 15:23

My dd’s just turned 17 and I joined Mumsnet when I was expecting
I’ve had a couple of usernames over the years and there are a lot of names of fellow Mumsnetters that I remember and also still recognize and also a number of posts that I’ve not forgot about

PacificState · 25/01/2022 15:41

I still mentally change 'model' to 'moggle'. Makes me laugh every single time. Been here since 2006 but many different names. It's totally different to how it was then, but then so am I... and there is still nothing like it, that I've found, for just allowing a mostly female crowd to talk to each other in relative freedom.

sofakingcool · 25/01/2022 15:47

I was on here when DS was a baby - now 18. It was fairly quiet back then. I then took a break for many years and regrettably got back into it a couple of years ago - absolute time waster!

Graffittiunderpass · 25/01/2022 15:59

Been here on and off since 2005/6 in various guises.

Missed the Moldies, but remember lots of the classics in real time.

Little Korean lady in my garde
Fat balls
Pom bears

Still love the old place
