Hello Ladies - hopefully a new thread for you... @Carosel2 @Whitestar55 @Chrissols @danblack87 @flutterby18 @wfh21 @workingfromhomenow @cherryblossom114 @Lovemydaxie @homeworkmum and anyone else I have forgotten.

Chrissols · 10/01/2022 11:59

First time logged on for a couple of weeks, no work available…..is this just today or has it been quiet lately?

Gally123 · 10/01/2022 12:15

@Chrissols - post Christmas lull, I have dictations but very few.

OP posts:
wendules60 · 10/01/2022 12:23

Yes, same for me, hope it picks up soon!

Cherryblossom114 · 10/01/2022 19:45

I think Early Bird syndrome..trickling through !

Whitestar55 · 13/01/2022 10:29

How's it going for everyone? There are lots of tasks in one of my specialties today for whatever reason.

deewu · 13/01/2022 11:18

Mine have been steady one more than the other, they almost run out and then a few more pop up. Thankfully it is not the fastest finger first game!

Whitestar55 · 13/01/2022 11:21

I think there's an abundance of mine because it's 90% awful dictation as usual.

deewu · 13/01/2022 12:15

@Whitestar55 is any of it bad enough to report and hopefully get removed?

Whitestar55 · 13/01/2022 12:42

Probably, but I'm managing to pick out enough passable ones at the moment.

Whitestar55 · 13/01/2022 12:53

I don't usually report bad ones to DICT8, if there's nothing else to do I just type them with lots of notes box flag ups to get rid of them, I'm sure the dictators will get the hint eventually and at least I'll get a few peanuts for doing them, whereas faffing about emailing DICT8 with task numbers etc I won't.

wfh21 · 13/01/2022 14:34

same as @Whitestar55 especially after a shitty message advising if I did not feel up to doing the task someone else would 🙄 clearly the understanding email regarding awful dictation was just paying lip service !!!

My New Year work resolution is to set my own reasonable standard and any crap feedback will be ignored (especially the feedback with spelling mistakes 🤣)

carosel2 · 13/01/2022 14:42

@Whitestar55 - yes I do that, I can't be bothered I just send them back with lots of notes, and got feedback recently of corrections, they must have felt very proud of themselves being able to fathom out what was said and as for flagging anything up that doesn't make clinical sense, I am a typist not a bloody doctor.

Gally123 · 13/01/2022 14:43

@wfh21 - I have often considered sending the feedback email to my "spam" folder so I do not have to see it so promptly as it can be rather off putting and disrupt concentration.

OP posts:
wfh21 · 13/01/2022 16:30

@Gally123 what a good idea !!! this fits nicely with my New Year's resolution !!! and like you say can be really off putting if you think you're having a good day.
@carosel2
I wonder whether they actually ask the secretary/doctor to confirm what has been dictated before feeding back to us ?

Whitestar55 · 13/01/2022 16:41

Don't you get a bit sick of the guessing game? No diagnosis etc (copy and paste), so nothing to put it all in context, copy letter to GP, patient, whoever (instead of distinguishing who it is addressed to), I think I need a break!

carosel2 · 13/01/2022 16:44

wfh21 - I'm not sure, perhaps, as there were many notes, but I only got sent two queries they managed to get right on same letter. I remember it well as it was horrendous. I was told to flag up in future if it didn't make sense too, which I did ??? Confused. Perhaps they found some sort of achievement in getting a fraction of it right themselves!

Whitestar55 · 13/01/2022 16:47

@carosel - I think perhaps DICT8 are just as flummoxed by it all as we are and make it up as they go along.

Cherryblossom114 · 13/01/2022 17:25

I think they must be all using the same dictaphone 99% are muffled 😱

Whitestar55 · 13/01/2022 17:39

'Carry On' transcribing at 'Fawlty Towers' transcription dictated by 'Mr Bean', transcribed by 'The Miracle Worker'.

Cherryblossom114 · 13/01/2022 17:57

Workingfromhomenow · 14/01/2022 11:14

Oops….. I just wrote a message asking if anyone else gets distracted by the Trending threads at the top of Mumsnet when checking our thread, and I’ve posted it on one of those by mistake (about someone who is worried that they haven’t seen their neighbours for a while and whether to call the police). Seems that it’s not possible to delete messages once posted. Back to the typing now anyway……

Gally123 · 14/01/2022 11:25

@Workingfromhomenow - can you ask the Mumsnet moderator to delete it as inappropriate?

OP posts:
Workingfromhomenow · 14/01/2022 11:30

@Gally123 I could but there are so many messages on there that I don’t think anyone will notice it. Serves me right for slacking!

Whitestar55 · 14/01/2022 15:41

@workingfromhomenow I get distracted by everything, I find this job very tiring and boring mostly, but I force myself to do it out of desperation.

danblack87 · 18/01/2022 12:33

Good morning everyone. Thought I would attempt some work today between coughing bouts!!!
