Hello Ladies - hopefully a new thread for you... @Carosel2 @Whitestar55 @Chrissols @danblack87 @flutterby18 @wfh21 @workingfromhomenow @cherryblossom114 @Lovemydaxie @homeworkmum and anyone else I have forgotten.

"Lmost burnt beans" ... call the 'Executioner' Grin

danblack87 · 07/01/2022 16:16

@Alwayshangry: 'fraid to say you need at least 5 years proven NHS experience as a Medical Secretary to work for Dict8. You could try 'Accuro' or Jan @ 'Transcriptum .. work roughly along the same lines. Good Luck.

AlwaysHangry · 07/01/2022 16:22

Thank you so much I will take a look at them

danblack87 · 07/01/2022 16:35

@Chrissols: How are you doing?

Gally123 · 07/01/2022 16:35

@AlwaysHangry - DICT8 is medical work only but there are companies that do legal work - there are lots if you google it. Also try agencies like Reed.

@danblack87 hi, thanks for asking. Doing ok know, finally had my surgery and got home this morning. Very sore, but relieved it’s done. Need to start cramming in a bit of work next week now 🙂

danblack87 · 07/01/2022 16:47

@Chrissols: Finally you have had your op ... take it easy now ... fully recover and do nor catch the dreaded COIVD> Bless you, I hope you are feeling okay soon. Flowers

Gally123 · 07/01/2022 17:04

@Chrissols - that was quite good time wise, as you mentioned they had told you I think by the end of the year, so only a week out. Hope it does the trick.

I alerted them to two tasks yesterday and they told me to date them and send them back unsafe to transcribe. I actually got a thank you for flagging so it is worth a try (the actual recording is usually the problem i.e goldfish bowl or similar). For my specialties the quality has improved quite a bit but one is definitely better than the other.

deewu · 07/01/2022 17:20

@Chrissols hope you make a speedy recovery :)

Chrissols · 07/01/2022 17:21

@danblack87 am resting in front of tv, unusual for me. @Gally123 no, that’s a different surgery. This was my gallbladder correction from my cholecystectomy over two years ago where they left some in 🤒

Gally123 · 07/01/2022 17:23

@Chrissols, shame they could not do both at the same time then. Poor you.

Chrissols · 07/01/2022 17:23

@deewu thank you

Chrissols · 07/01/2022 17:25

@Gally123 exactly what I said, but two different hospitals. Still good to get this was done though as was giving quite a bit of pain.

danblack87 · 07/01/2022 18:03

@deewu: I think that is the way for all of us to go, consistently, regarding poor dictation/notes or other - maybe someone will sit up and take notice ... It seems to me that we have all been afraid of backlash - I for one will certainly be highlighting everything that is wrong from now on; just don't want to be considered a rebel (for I am not) BUT 'what goes around has to go back around' [hmmm].

carosel2 · 08/01/2022 00:21

@danblack87 - im with you on that you're certainly not a rebel. I am now constantly sending things back saying, too quiet or too inaudible to trannscribe or with plenty of notes saying not sure of medication/word dictated/name spelling/hospital number/just dictation in general....the list goes on!!

carosel2 · 08/01/2022 00:46

..Ive sent notes too, to same dictator time and time again and they are still shocking and are not taking any notice of my comments. Perhaps they feel Im not in a position to highlight any problems as a transcriber that I come up against but I will continue to flag up umpteen questions. If they dont want to acknowledge the problems we are coming up against then unfortunately they are going to constantly get letters sent back with so many notes. Now perhaps they arent getting the direct feedback or they are just so pompous and pig headed they wont acknowledge they are just shit dictators!!!!

danblack87 · 08/01/2022 03:18

@carosel2: I plan to start working tomorrow - coughing and sneezing 'shit bouts' permit' Grin

danblack87 · 08/01/2022 03:30

Backing 'us' all the way #peeps ... hoping I can stop coughing long enough to type 2moz

danblack87 · 08/01/2022 03:47

We need to bombard Dict8 Admin - at their behest - THEN, maybe, we will get somewhere --- the odd one's here and there are not 'cutting' it obviously ... "all for one and one for all" (multi muskateer-transcriptionists!!!!!!!!!!!

danblack87 · 08/01/2022 04:20

@carosel2 and all RE 'the note box': Note: Inaudible [not note sec or ANO] AND e-mail to DICT8 admin,???? We can do our own standardisation. >>

wendules60 · 08/01/2022 07:52

I do think 2 boxes would be a good idea, one for us (unpaid) and one for the dictators (paid), do they like the idea of being fair?. Can someone suggest this if they are emailing, (I've already emailed about this !)

Gally123 · 08/01/2022 08:31

@carosel2 - I wonder if all your notes about poor dictation and not being able to hear clearly go to the secretary who prints the letter etc and never makes it back as far as the doctor. I have had one dictator I have continually sent comments back on and it has never made a difference, so perhaps she never gets the comments passed on.

OP posts:
deewu · 08/01/2022 09:00

I did hear from admin that even when they raised it (poor dictation) with some clients they just ask for it to be typed with as many notes as necessary to complete the task! In my opinion those should sit there for over 24 hours or more especially if a one off but the problem is it could still clog up the list for someone.

Gally123 · 08/01/2022 09:16

@deewu - that's dreadful asking for lots of notes! Clients not admitting they have a problem. If the secretary in the hospital was faced with such bad dictation she would just return it to the doctor to redo. We did regularly, people soon learn to do it properly if faced with doing it twice otherwise. But with remote typing some feel they can get away with sloppy work, and unfortunately they are right.
