Where was Boris Johnson?

271 replies

RoyalFamilyFan · 30/12/2021 15:30

Does anyone know where Boris Johnson was over the last ten days? He was interviewed and asked if he had been abroad. He said of course not and did a laugh as if he was lying.
So where has he been?

OP posts:
elelel · 30/12/2021 16:20

Just because he's not in the tv why do you assume he's not working?

Because he was on TV, only in recorded messages. I think it's a reasonable conclusion to draw. The man can't normally resist the opportunity to get his face in the media.

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 30/12/2021 16:20

@PieMistee

Of course he can't take 10 days off in the middle of a crucial point in a pandemic. But the man is a useless, lying flobby narcissist who is so far in over his head he doesn't know what to do.

How is it 'crucial' when deaths are low,hospitalisations being monitored and we aren't in any lockdown?

Tootfroot · 30/12/2021 16:20

@RoseAndRose

Paternity leave probably
Female MPs don't get maternity leave do they? Isn't there a lot of discussion about it at the moment. So I hope he hasn't taken paternity leave

I’m not a fan of Boris (I don’t vote Tory) but surely he deserves a few days off like everyone else?

I don't disagree with the days off idea, but if he was simply having days off why not simply say so, like any other person would?

gorseinon · 30/12/2021 16:21

I don't know where Mr Johnson was. I'd have preferred a prison cell but don't think that was the case.

OP why do you seem surprised? Mr Johnson is a part time Prime Minister, was a part-time London Mayor. The sooner he goes the better.

Shedmistress · 30/12/2021 16:21

@Squills

Give the man a break!

Why do you think he should be on duty over Christmas?

I don't live in the UK any more but remind me, were they not testing and vaccinating like crazy on Christmas Eve, Christmas day and Boxing Day?

Why shouldn't he be on duty over Christmas?

LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 30/12/2021 16:23

Who was testing and vaccinating like crazy over Christmas??

I saw none of that. People were testing and getting vaccinated normally

'I was on holiday with my family' would have been as welcome as ' mind your own bloody business'.

sashagabadon · 30/12/2021 16:25

Oh god, give the guy a break!

kidsatuniemptynester · 30/12/2021 16:27

The problem is that many of us, myself included, don't believe a word this liar says. Why didn't he just say that he was at home with his wife, toddler and new born as it was Xmas, he was contactable, and he had left efficient people in charge in his absence? This is what a grown up, non lying PM would say. He also looked like a bag of rubbish on the recordings, and rather grubby

Shinychestnuts · 30/12/2021 16:27

Being a former journalist with lots of contacts and relationships in that world, I imagine he can ask the press to afford him a certain amount of privacy at certain times, in exchange for access at other times, and to a certain extent, they will comply.

Havanananana · 30/12/2021 16:28

It would have been very easy for him to have said, "I've been spending some family time, looking after Wilfred while Carrie takes care of little Spudulika, as well as speaking to Javid and Whitty twice a day as we're keeping a keen eye on the Covid situation ..." - just like any competent and trustworthy person would have said. He should have been able to just tell the truth without even thinking about it.

Instead he blustered and looked like he was about to crap himself, scared that the reporter was going to say something like, "Is this you in this photo taken last week in Italy/Mustique/on an oligarch's yacht?"

Johnson always reminds me of the lines Carly Simon once wrote; "He's where he should be all the time. And when he's not, he's with some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend..."

MajorCarolDanvers · 30/12/2021 16:28

Politicians are allowed time off especially with a new born baby.

JinglingHellsBells · 30/12/2021 16:29

This is a completely ridiculous thread.

Why do you all want to see the PM so you 'know' he is working?

It's nonsense.

In the olden days before politicians were on TV every 5 minutes, no one would have even dreamed of asking this question.

People who have important jobs are never actually on holiday.

I have friends whose partners have very snr CEO jobs and even on 'holiday' they are glued to their phones and working.

ParkheadParadise · 30/12/2021 16:29

@TheWayTheLightFalls

"In this country" is a clear indication that he's been in either Scotland or Wales, surely? Grin
No Scotland He's not welcome here 😄
JinglingHellsBells · 30/12/2021 16:30

@Havanananana why do you think you are owed an account of what the PM does in his own time?

Tootfroot · 30/12/2021 16:30

In your opinion.

How totally invested you are in this notion.

x2boys · 30/12/2021 16:31

How do you know he wasn't ion duty on Xmas day @Shedmistress?
I assume he was still closely following the following figures, hospitalisations,deaths etc ,what do you think he should have been doing on Xmas day?

LuaDipa · 30/12/2021 16:31

@elelel

I'm interested in the posters jumping to defend a man who has proved himself time and time again to an an absolute liar. Why are you all doing that?
I don’t think that’s happening. I’m not a fan but I think he has the right to a Christmas break. That’s hardly jumping to defend him.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 30/12/2021 16:32

@girlmom21

Who cares? He's allowed a rest like the rest of us.
His life is one long rest.
elelel · 30/12/2021 16:35

@MajorCarolDanvers

Politicians are allowed time off especially with a new born baby.

And they would usually say just that 'I was having some time off with my wife, toddler and new baby' - not 'I was in this country'. It's as shifty as fuck. And what the posters who think we are being silly to talk about his lack of movements seem to be missing is we base our judgment on his behaviour - take a look at his previous.

gorseinon · 30/12/2021 16:35

@sashagabadon I would not give Rose West a break, nor Harold Shipman if he was still alive. Their actions led to far fewer deaths than Boris Johnson, and they probably tell/told the truth more often.

I was on paternity leave would have been a simple answer.

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 30/12/2021 16:39

@PurplePikachu

Maybe he’s been spending time with his wife, toddler and newborn? Having a break? Mourning his mum who died last year?

I mean I can’t stand the man, but I can accept that he’s allowed a holiday.

Agree with this.
LynxGiftsetAndSocks · 30/12/2021 16:40

@Shinychestnuts

Being a former journalist with lots of contacts and relationships in that world, I imagine he can ask the press to afford him a certain amount of privacy at certain times, in exchange for access at other times, and to a certain extent, they will comply.

But if he looked smart and groomed you would say he's not working hard enough/up to no good

So he can't win can he?
