Eating our 10-a-day thread (2)

Hi all

This is our second thread about upping our veg and fruit intake on a daily basis.

We tend to list what we've had to keep us accoubtable and generally chat about how to increase the rainbow on our plate.

We don't always make 10 but anything more than you would normally is great. I like to at least get 5. 10 or even sometimes more is a great day.

All welcome whatever reasons.

@ihaveonecat I hope that egg was fried in sesame oil. Korean style food is great for packing in the veg.

Huge Moroccan stew with sticky rice tonight.
So same list as yesterday; Onions, celeriac, carrots, red lentils, garlic, ginger, cauliflower, brown chick peas, pak choi and peppers plus oodles of spices. Plus pea protein chucks, extra pak choi and spinach.

Hummus and chips for brunch Grin

I have been having a bit of a minor crisis so not posting recently. Name changed but on a theme!
Thought I'd see how I'm doing by listing today. I've been out shopping and cooking but not very purposefully iyswim.

Today:
1 raisins, mixed berries (in a cake..)
2 carrot, swede, onion
3 red pepper, lettuce, tomato
4 broccolli, spinach, mushroom
5 satsuma
So not bad for variety but I did have the beige meals and snacks to begin with. Good that my fruit habit seems ingrained now. And the more colourful dinner dishes. There are also leftovers to help tomorrow's lunch and snacking.

HowlingKale · 03/02/2022 20:33

Ihaveonecat, I'm the same.
I reverted a bit this last week due to circumstances, thankfully it actually felt uncomfortable so I think these habits are getting there.

HowlingKale · 03/02/2022 20:56

I must get some kimchi Twentin. I've enjoyed it when I've had it in restaurants.

ThisTownAintBigEnoughForBoth · 05/02/2022 16:11

Glad the kimchi was a hit when mixed with other things, Twentin. Are you and LO feeling better now?

I like the photos of people's food but it makes me hungry!

HowlingKale I like your middle aged dream. I'd be happiest if someone else was cooking all the veg for me though, tbh...

Today has started well.
Breakfast: grapes, apple, peach (1 portion)
Lunch: romaine lettuce, butter beans, tomatoes, artichokes, pineapple (3 portions)
Snack: smoothie with soya milk and half a banana (0.5)

ihaveonecat · 05/02/2022 19:35

Raspberries

Not a great day!

Made a pasta bake described by Gousto as "veg packed". It had tinned tomatoes and a courgette in it Hmm so I added onion and garlic and cherry tomatoes to bulk it up and will have with salad

Breakfast: Tayberries and porridge with almond butter

Elevenses: veggie fritters from last night: chick peas, PSB, onion, carrot, sweetcorn, chili

Lunch: veggie burger (some pea protein thing that just doesn't count): mixed salad, sauerkraut, gherkin

Dinner: pasta stuff: tomatoes, onions, carrot, olives, green beans, peppers, puy lentils, garlic

I've been hungry today Smile

If you can't get kimchee try sauerkraut with a dash of fish sauce or a bit of soy sauce and lime juice.
