Hi @Lostthetastefordahlias welcome back, sorry to hear about the tonsillitis and chicken pox in your house. Hope you both feel better soon.

My DS2's fever is back up and he's been sick. He's sort of asleep again next to me now. Ds1 is asleep in his big boy bed so that's a result. See if he manages the whole night. Want him sleeping in it all night before big school starts. He's co-slept with me since he was one. DH is in the other room by himself and I should after almost 5 years get back in the bed I guess!!! We've had this weird thing where we are in DS2's bedroom and he's in his cot and me and dS1 sleep in the double bed in here! But enough is enough, DH snores so much though!

Sorry it's been one of those days Motherofmonsters, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better. It goes like that I think one great day one not do great etc.

Hope everyone gets some sleep.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 21/05/2022 19:45

Sorry to hear that about DS2’s fever @Chocolatetrifle - how has he been today?
DD still very unhappy with chickenpox. She is upset as she “does not look like elsa anymore”. Regret letting her watch Frozen to be honest as it seems to have made her very aware of her appearance - at 3! I have ordered some new kinetic sand in purple and silver so hopefully that will cheer her up tomorrow.
We are making a list of summer things we want to do once she is better - I always struggle to feel like I’m really making the most of summer! Does anyone have anything good planned?

Chocolatetrifle · 21/05/2022 21:14

@Lostthetastefordahlias ,hope the chicken pox go soon and you get better soon too, it's awful being ill and trying to carry on looking after them.

Don't worry about the Elsa thing. Perhaps get a picture of Elsa and draw some pox on her too!

dS2 is still.not totally right on himself, he is drinking but not eating much. I'll see how he is tomorrow and if not much improvement will get him checked to see if he needs antibiotics.

Sleep well.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 21/05/2022 21:50

Thanks @Chocolatetrifle - my antibiotics have worked very quickly on my tonsillitis so hopefully it will be the same for Ds2 if he is still unwell tomorrow.
How has your tuff tray purchase worked out, has it been well used?
Hope you’ve had a better day @Motherofmonsters and you’re enjoying your trip now @squishymamma

squishymamma · 22/05/2022 07:59

Morning all! And welcome back @Lostthetastefordahlias 😊

Sorry to hear about all the sick DC @Lostthetastefordahlias and @Chocolatetrifle, hope they are a bit better today.

We fly home today, both sad to be leaving but relieved to be getting back to some kind of normal routine. DS1 fought bedtime intensely last night and had a major, major tantrum because he was so tired. DS2 woke up every half hour all night unless he was on me...so I think I need a rather large coffee!

We have had a blast though and we'll be back for our usual trip in July so not long to wait. Pray for our trip home as its another late flight then longish drive! 😂

Hope you all have a lovely relaxing Sunday.

Hope you get home safely Squishy!

Have been up all night, managed to get ds2 seen today and he's got scarlet fever, apparently it's spreading around our town. Anyway, got some antibiotics. His fever was almost 40 last night.

Currently drinking strong coffee with a lavender wheat bag on my head.

Hope everyone's day is going ok?

Motherofmonsters · 22/05/2022 13:27

Sorry everyone is poorly/tired today. I hope his antibiotics start working quickly @chocolatetrifle.

Good luck for the trip back @squishymamma, I'm glad you've had a good time.

Welcome back @lostthetastefordahlias!

My period has finally reappeared so panic over! DH is away again for work this weekend, I'm getting fed up of him not being here and he's getting fed up of always being away. It's a bit of a shit situation at the moment but hopefully it will calm down soon.

I took DS to rugbytots yesterday and he was either messing around or crying so it was a bit of a disaster. The coach did say all of his classes have been like it so that's something. My DB came up in the afternoon and we played Lego and board games.

This morning we've been to my PIL for breakfast and went for a run around on the beach for an hour. Not sure what we will do this afternoon, might just have another quiet one.

Motherofmonsters · 22/05/2022 20:34

Ah DD has woken up already this only happens when she's sick. I also forgot I had covered her in E45 cream and thought she had a horrendous rash in the dark

Chocolatetrifle · 23/05/2022 13:54

Hi, happy Monday

Motherofmonsters, glad you know where you are up to with your period. How is DD today?

My dS1 has come home from preschool like an emotional mess he has been crying and shouting at me for 2 hours since he got back. He is 4.5 , is this really normal behaviour???????? He then threw his water gun at me. It's like he's a blubbering mess whinging about everything. Send me help and advice please!!!!!!

Chocolatetrifle · 23/05/2022 13:59

Oh, I should mention he did not go asleep until 8.55 pm and was trying to get up at 5.40, so clearly not enough sleep. Why he won't sleep longer I really don't know.

Chocolatetrifle · 23/05/2022 20:14

Some observations from today;

  1. Why when you are emptying the potty does some wee always go on your foot? The potty we have is clearly a bad design.
  1. There is something wrong when you are ready to go to bed before your toddler is willing to go to bed.
Motherofmonsters · 23/05/2022 20:19

Hello,

DD isn't sick she's just very emotional, I did warn nursery. They said she was emotional all day with them as well. Maybe she's having some sort of leap?

How is your DS @chocolatetrifle? Sometimes they get the fizzy bottle effect where they hold in their feelings/behaviour at school and then let it all out where they feel safe.

I always want to go to bed before the kids!

squishymamma · 23/05/2022 21:09

Evening all,

Didn't get back home until just before 2am this morning after delays etc, so a bit knackered today. DC slept surprisingly well, had a bit of a lie in and everything. Had a quiet day, kept DS1 off nursery so he could recover a bit from the long trip. He was in great humour the whole time so that was good. So not much to report really, looking forward to getting fully back into routines tomorrow.

@Chocolatetrifle my DS1 usually refuses to sleep longer too no matter what time he goes to sleep. Agree that he's probably letting out all his emotions in his safe place. Has he said anything about why he is upset, did something happen at preschool or something? When DS1 is like that I usually put on some TV and force him to have a snuggle with me on the couch, he soon relaxes.

@Motherofmonsters glad to hear DD isn't ill. DS1 went through a period a few weeks back where he was emotional all the time and I (and nursery) constantly thought he was getting sick...but he didn't, and now he's back to his happy self, with a lot more words. So maybe it is a leap and she's just processing a lot mentally atm?

Oh to round off DS2 is not a toddler obviously but he seems to have discovered that we can leave him now, so he gets really angry and protest cries. He's almost more whiny than DS1 atm which shocks me! Hoping for a good night's sleep.

Sleep well everyone.

Chocolatetrifle · 23/05/2022 21:19

Apparently someone scratched him with a fork at lunchtime on his hand do it might be that yes.

Glad you got home ok Squishy and glad your DD is not poorly. I guess we just need to let them let out their emotions when they need to.

Sleep well tonight everyone. Tomorrow is my birthday! DH is off in the afternoon so we are attempting to take both kids bowling! I will report back x

squishymamma · 24/05/2022 08:15

Happy birthday @Chocolatetrifle, hope you have a wonderful day with your family! 🎂

Motherofmonsters · 24/05/2022 22:05

Happy Birthday @chocolatetrifle, hope you've had a fantastic day!

DD has been miserable all day and is waking up continuously. I wish I knew what is going on with her.

Chocolatetrifle · 25/05/2022 20:17

Thank you! Had a lovely day and boys actually did quite enjoy the bowling. They preferred playing on the arcade games more I think though.

How is dd Motherofmonsters? Did she settle down in the end?

squishymamma · 25/05/2022 21:24

Evening!

Glad to hear you had a good day @Chocolatetrifle. Arcade games are very fun!

Hope your DD is okay @Motherofmonsters, like I said it sounds a lot like DS1 was a few weeks ago. DH even had to sleep in his room a few nights because he was so unsettled on his own. But he eventually got back to normal!

Have had a nice day with a friend and DS2 today, she has a DS a similar age so we pushed our prams around and drank a lot of coffee. DS1 didn't sleep in nursery today so he was ridiculously tired, we fed him tortillas on the couch and put him to bed early! Hope he's okay, took him a while to get to sleep (probably overtired) but now he's conked. We'll see how the night goes.

Hope everyone had a good day!

Motherofmonsters · 25/05/2022 21:48

Glad you had a good birthday @chocolatetrifle.

DD is still struggling with life at the minute, she basically cried and shrieked most of the day. She's woken up screaming twice already this evening but has settled herself down.

Hopefully it's just a phase like your DS1 @squishymamma. Sounds like you've had a nice day, it's nice to meet up with kids of similar ages.

I'm currently trying to get through my giant mountain of ironing that's been staring at me, I might give up and try and get some sleep in a minute

Chocolatetrifle · 26/05/2022 20:12

Evening,

How is your DD today? Has she become any more settled?

Not any news from here. We had a little bakery visit this morning and then DS2 napped and I was able to do a bit of work then collected ds1. dS2 has been screechy today and dS1 just seems to shout no at me a lot at the moment! Happy days!

Both settled asleep for now do I'm going to and have a pretend spa trip in the bathroom.

Sleep well.

squishymamma · 26/05/2022 20:28

@Chocolatetrifle enjoy your spa!

@Motherofmonsters hope DD has been a bit better today.

We had a public holiday today so DS1 was off nursery, he was still really tired so there was a lot of TV in the morning before his nap. Then we went for a lovely walk around a lake which was nice for the most part, he's still really tired though.

DH has had a headache all day so I've been pulling most of the weight and I'm shattered. Not long out of bed.

Hope everyone gets a good sleep!

Wishing you a late happy birthday @Chocolatetrifle ! Hope the tonsillitis under control now?
We have had a nightmare, DDs temp suddenly went out of control with the chickenpox & her spots and face went really red, got her some antibiotics asap but I am afraid the huge spots on her face will scar. Now Ds has a high temp but no spots. He is asleep on me now and wont be moved. And I have hurt my back somehow.
Am also v annoyed with DH who has just done 3 super long work days and basically escaped everything. Never been more ready for a weekend!
How old is your DD now @Motherofmonsters ? My DD went through some really emotional times when she was just turning 3, And then became much more aware of emotions etc.

well done for getting them settled again after the journey back @squishymamma!

Chocolatetrifle · 27/05/2022 20:44

Evening!

Oh @Lostthetastefordahlias , you are going through a hard time at the moment aren't you?.it's so difficult when they are both ill. How are they today? It was Scarlett fever dS2 had with antibiotics it's now fully better thank you. Hope you get some time to yourself to get your strength up.

Half term starts today! Not had too bad a day here, outdoor time, tuff tray has been out again. Hopefully tomorrow we will make it to a national trust property.

Hope everyone is ok and gets some decent sleep x

squishymamma · 28/05/2022 10:33

Morning all and happy Saturday!

I had a lie in today it was heavenly. We were supposed to be having a family photo shoot today but DS1 had a temp yesterday so I rescheduled, obviously he's totally fine this morning but completely engrossed in YouTube Kids as DH has been in charge 😂I'm just rolling with it, we'll go out soon so no big deal.

Glad to hear your DS2 is better @Chocolatetrifle, hope you enjoy National Trust, I love their properties!

Sorry to hear you've been having it so rough @Lostthetastefordahlias, hope your DS is okay (and your DD of course). Get your DH on child duty and have a nice relaxing bath with some Epsom salts to help your back.

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Lostthetastefordahlias · 29/05/2022 14:40

Sorry @Chocolatetrifle - got confused, have not been this sleep deprived since DS was a newborn! Glad DS2 is fully recovered anyway. Did you make it to a National Trust place? I love them too but we are in Essex and there’s not many.
Hope you’ve had a good weekend @squishymamma!
DS has turned out to have an ear infection, have a dr appt for him at 6:15pm to try to get some anti-bs, wish it was a bit earlier! Dd’s chickenpox have scabbed over but I can’t imagine sending her to nursery while she still looks so covered in spots - they say it’s ok but I’m worried she will get comments! On the other hand have already been off work for a week. Has anyone else sent DC back to nursery with visible spots still?
