Hello everyone,

Sorry I've been quiet I've been feeling very Meh. Not really sure why but can't seem to shake it off.

We've had a good day here mostly, DS didn't go to sleep until 11pm last night so was crying this morning as he had to go to school and he was tired. Went to our usual Tuesday group where DD had a good time, then lunch. My DM came up for a cup of tea then got DS from school. DD fell asleep in the car so had an easy school run but she took a long time to go to sleep. DS is still awake...

How are you feeling today @chocolatetrifle, I hope you're not aching too badly from your fall/door shutting on you

I'm glad your DS has been smilier today @squishymamma. That's exciting he's saying more words now, it must be trickier for him to learn two at the same time but he'll be gaining so much from it

Chocolatetrifle · 11/05/2022 21:58

Good evening everyone, ah @Motherofmonsters are you ok? Hope you are feeling a bit better? Perhaps you need a bit of time to yourself?

Not much to report here today. Usual preschool day, dS1 has taken to getting emotional again going in. There's only about 8 weeks left there until he finishes for summer before big school. He says he's looking forward to big school. Unfortunately there's been a bit of staff turnover at the preschool and it's set off his anxiety again. I've got a few books on explaining emotions and he is enjoying those. Both boys have had hair cuts today! I'm feeling less achey and I'm trying to prioritise my diet and wellbeing sort of.

Hope everyone sleeps well and hope your DS has settled asleep now Motherofmonsters.

Chocolatetrifle · 11/05/2022 22:00

Sorry, Motherofmonsters just realised your post was yesterday not tonight so ignore comment about your DS settled for sleep, although I hope he has too for tonight!

Squishy, are you ok? How was today?

Motherofmonsters · 12/05/2022 20:04

Hello,

I well and truly lost my patience with DS this afternoon/evening. DH has gone to London and MIL came up to help and I basically ended up screaming at him for sprinting around the house, shrieking winding DD up when we were trying to eat our dinner. I think I made MIL cry with my loss of keeping my cool. Luckily she's very understanding. I'm feeling pretty rubbish though, I also fell out with DD while she was in the bath and she starting screaming I don't want you I want nanny...

I hope everyone else is having more luck

Chocolatetrifle · 13/05/2022 13:14

Oh Motherofmonsters that sounds hard. Sometimes we just get so wound up we do lose it. Our buttons get pressed and then it just becomes far too much. I find it can build up, you are coping with all sorts then something will just make you explode. I'm trying to hold my tongue more, breathe and walk away. It's not easy though but it can help to be less shouty.

How are you feeling today?

Motherofmonsters · 13/05/2022 21:26

I'm feeling much better thank you @chocolatetrifle. I'm still in a bit of a funk but feeling better. We went for Dinner at MIL this evening and SIL announced she was pregnant. I'm so excited. I twigged weeks ago so have been itching to see if I was right.

How has your day been

squishymamma · 14/05/2022 06:58

Morning all!

Sorry I've been quiet, have been keeping up with the posts but have either been distracted by DC or just not had energy to respond...because we have been busy preparing for our trip to the UK! Got here super late last night and here for just over a week. All DGP are super excited of course. Don't think we live too far from each other @Chocolatetrifle so will be round yours tomorrow for a trip to the garden centre 😂

It was our first time travelling as a 4 and we definitely noticed the difference, it was like herding cattle and I was absolutely zombified by the time we eventually got here! But to their credit the DC were amazingly good and DS1 was happy and smiling and charming everyone including the border control officer...despite the fact it was like 3 hours past his bedtime! Sounds like he's stirring already so not a long lie in at all, but oh well.

Hope you're feeling better today @Motherofmonsters, we definitely have those days too and sometimes I get so frustrated and shout at DS2, then feel so guilty because he's only 4 months old and can't communicate any other way!

DS1 is up so have to run, hope everyone is well today!

Happy Saturday!

Motherofmonsters, glad you are feeling better and that's exciting news about your SIL, a little cousin for your DC! Does anyone else get the being pregnant twang when you hear of someone having a baby? I do! It's like twang, it just goes off inside me like a rubber band or something. Sorry I'm talking silly!

Squishy, ahhh, welcome home! You must be so excited, glad you made it ok. You are psychic, I've been to the garden centre this morning! Ha ha. Hope you have a lovely trip.

We are all going to a BBQ this evening for a little bit, looking forward to it.

Have a good day X

Chocolatetrifle · 16/05/2022 21:23

Evening, hope all is ok?

Quick message as I am so tired and need to get to sleep! We went to toddler group this morning and indoor playcentre this afternoon and it turned into a decent day really. I've had to sellotape my eyes open because for some reason dS2 likes to keep waking up at the moment and then argues with me in the night when I'm trying to settle him again. Not much else to report from here ATM.
Sleep well x

Motherofmonsters · 17/05/2022 11:35

Morning,

Sorry I've been a bit quiet lately!

I hope you got some proper sleep last night @chocolatetrifle. Everything is a mission when your tired. Sounds like you had a nice day yesterday.
I definitely get the pregnancy twangs as well, I dont think I could manage 3 though.

How is your trip to the UK @squishymamma, I hope you're having an amazing time.

We've been to our Tuesday play group this morning. DD had a good time, they made flags so shes running around with it. It's about to pour down with rain in a minute, I hope it clears up for the school run

Chocolatetrifle · 17/05/2022 13:43

Hello both, hope all is going ok.
I'm in a bit of a slump today , a can't be bothered slump. Glad dd had a good time Motherofmonsters. Im sleeping really poorly lately and my energy is low. I have very little time by myself and some days I just want to be by myself. Anyway, enough about that! Both DS's seem a little under the weather today.

How is it back in the UK squishy? Hope you are having some lovely family time and getting out and about?

We are slumped Infront of the Tele, a contrast to yesterday!

Motherofmonsters · 17/05/2022 17:29

I know that slump very well @chocolatetrifle, is DH able to take them out for the day or you take yourself out for the day to have some time to yourself?

Nothing wrong with some TV! Although DS is watching people play Mario on YouTube so all I can hear are jumping sounds and coins dinging!

Motherofmonsters · 18/05/2022 10:46

Morning!

How are you feeling today @chocolatetrifle?

DS has got a field trip today pond dipping, I'm awaiting the phone call to say he's fallen in! He's gone in with a net and bucket so is very excited.

My period is 8days late... I've taken an (expired) test and it's negative. Feeling very twitchy about it though.

Chocolatetrifle · 18/05/2022 15:19

Hi Motherofmonsters, wait a couple more days then test again, it could just be hormones but of course it could be that you are! Are you usually regular?

I was asleep really early last night as soon as the DS's were asleep but was woken at 11 as DS1 had a fever. He's been off preschool this morning. I'm feeling less slumpy today. It's my birthday next week so I'm going out with friends on Saturday afternoon so that's a break to look forward to. Ds1 is headachy and dS2 is streaming with a cold. It's been a good 2 months since we were I'll with covid, I was only thinking the other day that we've done well for illness lately.

Chocolatetrifle · 18/05/2022 15:23

So we've been in this morning and DH set off to London very early for work and won't be back til late . I've got a bit of work done and done invoicing whilst mine both had a power nap. No doubt they will be up until 9.30 tonight but it was worth it to get stuff done.

Hope your ds doesn't fall in Motherofmonsters, that's the kind of thing my ds1 would do but he'd jump in on purpose.

Tomorrow we are getting a proper single bed delivered for ds1 instead of a toddler bed and tomorrow night I have an information evening at big school.

Motherofmonsters · 18/05/2022 16:30

Guess who fell in. I knew he would!
I'm not very regular but never this late, it's been a bit stressful here lately so it's probably related to that.

Glad you're feeling less slumpy today @chocolatetrifle, hopefully the boys will be feeling better soon! Sounds like an exciting day planned tomorrow! Not sure what our plan is yet other than ballet in the morning

Chocolatetrifle · 18/05/2022 21:22

Oh no he fell in @Motherofmonsters ! You thought he would didn't you?

Hope ballet is good tomorrow. It's funny wondering what's happening when you are late as you start imagining all sorts and then your body just decides for you!

Sleep well.

Squishy hope you are all doing ok and having fun.

squishymamma · 19/05/2022 07:05

Ah sorry I've been so quiet! It's been manic here (as expected).

@Motherofmonsters hope your period shows up soon! I still haven't gotten mine back but I remember mine used to be really temperamental when I was stressed - had many panics about that. Hope DS enjoyed his trip despite falling in!

@Chocolatetrifle sorry to hear your DC are under the weather again, but 2 months is a good stretch! We're just getting back on track after the cold DS1 had at Easter because he had a cough and a runny nose for absolutely ages afterwards. Just waiting for the next one. Hope your information night goes well!

We've had a blast the past few days, went to a garden centre (and thought of you @Chocolatetrifle 😉), did some messy play, saw lots of relatives, bought loads of clothes for DS1 as it's so much cheaper here...

We've been staying with DF and have now gone to stay with DM and she babysat last night while we went out...DS1 was still up when we came in just before midnight watching TV. I was so angry! It took us forever to get him to sleep after, and I can hear him starting to wake up now so he's going to be overtired and cranky all day. I went and made an AIBU thread to see if my anger is justified or not 😂 because I know he can be difficult to get to sleep but I'm just so frustrated at my DM!

Anyway today we're supposed to be going to the beach if it's nice weather, and then visiting friends who have DC a similar age. Hopefully DS1 manages all that!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Chocolatetrifle · 19/05/2022 21:52

Ah Squishy, I think it's because you'd had a night out and just wanted to get to bed when you got in and that's perfectly reasonable!

Mine don't get to have sleepovers at GPS really unless absolute emergency, like when dS2 had croup and was in a and e for 6 hours last June. Luckily ds1 did fall asleep eventually in bed with my mum. Don't worry too much, it was only the once. When we had a spell of ds1 refusing to go asleep we just used to let him fall asleep watching tele on the couch, sometimes it's not worth the battles in the end.

Motherofmonsters, how are you doing? Any sign of your period? I went to an information evening at school tonight, it was my old primary so it felt so special. There was a very young baby there and right now I'm getting so broody. I would really love another one, we have two frozen embryos you see and I feel so sad for them still frozen but I'm 42 next week and I swear DH would avoid sex for ever more if he thought it would likely result in another one!!!! So I think that chapter is closed. Sometimes I think I should just go to the clinic and do it myself but that plan is foiled as DH would need to consent to the de-thawing ha! I know I should be grateful for my boys. Anyway I'm really rambling now.

Sleep well everyone x

Motherofmonsters · 19/05/2022 22:32

I would have been annoyed to @squishymamma you just want to go to bed when you've been out. I hope he wasn't too tired today to do your plans. I'm glad you've otherwise had a good trip so far.

Aw that's lovely you got to go into your old school @chocolatetrifle. Has it changed much? It's hard the battle over head and heart with children, does your DH read stuff before he signs it. Sneak some paper under his nose.

No period here and I went and got a proper test but it's still negative. Im getting all the cramps etc just no period so I feel like it is going to appear but it's just so late. I guess if it doesn't come soon I should ring the go or something??

squishymamma · 20/05/2022 09:31

Morning!

Thanks for being kind, I got totally flamed on the other thread (which I was expecting) 😂 obviously I got over it quickly and all is now well. DS1 was a total nightmare until we wrestled him into bed at 10.30am for a nap and then he slept for almost 5 hours...and was pretty much back to normal after! Had a lovely time with friends and a quiet night.

Today we're going to a petting farm, though not until lunchtime so we'll see how DS1 gets on with no/a short nap...I'm ready for bed already!

@Chocolatetrifle aww that must have been really special. Obviously we just have had DS2 so I'm not quite broody yet, but our friends have a 6 week old and I was a bit like "awww" seeing her! Hope your DC are feeling better, you said they were a bit under the weather?

@Motherofmonsters I'd wait until 2 weeks late then maybe call. If you're getting cramping etc then it's probably on its way! Sometimes I got cramping then it took a few days before I had a very light one. Bodies are weird aren't they?

Hope everyone has a good day!

Chocolatetrifle · 20/05/2022 10:21

Motherofmonsters, has your period returned properly since you stopped breastfeeding your daughter? See what happens in another week or so. It was lovely to go back in my old school but it's been a long time since I was there do loads has changed but the main hall and stage etc was the same. I think hormones play a lot in wanting a baby don't they reality is a lot different. I think I would mentally struggle with even more sleep deprivation.

I was up loads last night as dS2 kept coughing. Hopefully he will settle for a nap now before I go and collect ds1.

Glad you are feeling better about things now Squishy. Ignore other people on that thread, thru clearly don't know that this one is the place to be ! Enjoy the petting zoo.

Chocolatetrifle · 20/05/2022 18:45

I think dS2 has tonsillitis, his temp has shot up and he says his throat is sore and he's not eaten all day. He's drinking though. See how he goes. I could see a white patch on his tonsil though when I looked with a torch.

Motherofmonsters · 20/05/2022 22:18

How was the petting zoo @squishymamma?

I hope DS2 is okay @chocolatetrifle, hopefully he will get some sleep tonight and feel better.

I feel like I've had a very unsuccessful day, kids at nursery/school but didn't manage to do what I wanted work wise or get the house sorted. I had to take a delivery of wood in at our lock up and it messed my day up. Still no period, they have come back properly after breastfeeding. Hopefully it's just a weird blip.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 20/05/2022 22:48

Hello, I hope it’s ok if I re-join? I have been reading along, I also saw your thread on aibu @squishymamma , although always grateful for a night out I would have been so annoyed to come home to have to do a very late bedtime & deal with tiredness the next day too!
We are going to be having a quiet weekend, 3yr old DD has chickenpox and I have tonsillitis & the antibiotics are making me feel v sick. I do hope DS doesnt have it @Chocolatetrifle ! DH is taking DS (no pox so far) to football tomorrow and to see his parents Sunday, so I need to get some activities together to distract DD from the fact she has to stay at home!
Days like that are so frustrating arent they @Motherofmonsters . Makes you wish you had just not tried and spent the whole day luxuriously lying on the sofa.
