Good luck for the doctors appointment @Lostthetastefordahlias , hope they issue the antibiotics for you

It was Dunham Massey we went too, was lovely, boys enjoyed climbing lots of trees.

We've not had the pox here, well ds1 had it when he was 20 months but only had about 4 spots on his tummy. dS2 not had it yet.

squishymamma · 30/05/2022 11:05

Just sitting down for a brew now, that's the kind of day it's been...

@Lostthetastefordahlias hope DS is feeling better now and the antibiotics are kicking in. We also haven't had chickenpox here but I would send my DC in, if they're not struggling too much with them. But you should do what you feel comfortable with!

I win worst mother award today, DS2 rolled off the couch 😩 while I was sat right next to him getting ready to feed him too! He seems okay but I'm watching every movement like a hawk.

DS1 must be going through some kind of development leap because he's incredibly clingy, very tired and grouchy. He also only wants me the whole time, even when DH is literally right there! I can see he's really changing the way he goes about things though, he considers things a lot more. So I guess I need to grit my teeth and get through it!

It's pouring down here so going to try and get the Playdoh out when DS1 gets home from nursery, I've been relying way too much on the screen time so should probably get back to fun games...

Hope everyone has a good day!

First day of half term and it's pouring!!!

So far we've been to Boots ( exciting times) and McDonald's. Have put sea animals and shells on tuff tray. Boys have been dancing to the Fortnite dance songs on you tube as I had to get some work done but hey ho that's the morning done.

Hope dS2 is ok Squishy? I've been there, both mine have done that a few times. They are quite resilient luckily! Ds1 rolled out of his big boy single bed the other night, I heard a thud and he was on the floor and still asleep!

It's hard when they are clingy. Age 2 inwards is another whingy clingy phase I think.

Hope the rest of the day goes well. Hopefully the weather improves somewhat. I've put my jubilee flags and bunting in the garden as we are heaving a jubilee party on Friday.

Chocolatetrifle · 30/05/2022 12:35

How is your DS @Lostthetastefordahlias ?

Motherofmonsters, how are you doing?

squishymamma · 30/05/2022 14:57

We are currently sat in A&E because despite DS2 seeming perfectly alright, DH and DM suggested I ring the Norwegian version of 111 and they said all babies under 1 should be examined...there's many people here and I don't fancy our chances of getting home for tea! 😂

Maybe ill get a McDonald's too to console myself @Chocolatetrifle, sounds like quite a nice morning! Do what you have to in order to get work done is my Motto...

Me and DS (who is 3) have been away for the weekend with grandparents to their caravan, it was nice to get away. Home now, we have made a potion tray with lots of pasta, rice and dried herbs so he could pretend to cook on his little cooker. Also done the shopping in the rain and got all the washing to put away now.

@squishymamma i hope DS is alright.

squishymamma · 30/05/2022 18:40

All good!

Sounds like a lovely weekend @BEE08!

I have done exactly the same @squishymamma, Dd rolled off the sofa when she was about 10 months and we got stuck in the childrens a&e of a massive London hospital for 15 hrs, sure she would have been better at home but didnt dare leave! Glad DS is ok.
Thanks for the questions about DS, he has been on antibiotics since Sunday but he is still unwell, drinking milk but not eating though he had a few cheerios this morning. I am taking him back to the dr tomorrow if he has not improved.
DD’s face still absolutely covered in chickenpox so she is off nursery too.
Going to try to tidy & set up something on the tuff tray while DS naps, as its been way too much telly & snacks around here, am exhausted though.
Impressed with your jubilee effort @Chocolatetrifle ! Our village is having a best dressed house competition and its all retirees mostly, its crazy out there! One house seems to have dyed a third of their roses blue somehow?!

squishymamma · 31/05/2022 21:12

Evening, hope everyone is OK?

@Lostthetastefordahlias a 15 hour wait sounds horrendous! Hope your DS is feeling better. I was actually coming on to say same as you - I feel like I should be putting in more effort to not just use screens and snacks but I just don't have the energy! Stuck in a bit of a rut play wise at the moment, doesn't help that DS1 is now a full on telly addict and demands it on all the time...which I usually give in to...

We had an okay day today, DS2 was very fussy and DS1 refused to walk the 5 min walk to nursery and wouldn't stand on the buggy board, so I ended up having to carry him on my shoulders. He's so up and down at the moment, constant mood swings!

Anyway tomorrow is a new day and I'm hoping to try and hide the TV remote 😂 hope everyone gets a good sleep.

Day 3 of half term and dS1 got up at 5.15 and thus got dS2 up at that time..why? I do not know. We have put up some more flags on the back garden for the jubilee and been to the bakery. Weather is a bit hit and miss at the moment and so the garden toys I got out are now very wet.

How are the DC feeling now who have been ill?

All I'll say is just use the Tele, don't feel guilty about putting the Tele on for entertainment sometimes. I blame lockdowns for making me feel the need to be a cross between a teacher and a children's entertainer all the time when inside at home. Just do what you need to survive the day!!

Motherofmonsters · 02/06/2022 19:37

Hello!

Sorry I've disappeared for a bit, I have been reading along.

I hope everyone is feeling better and on the mend. Lots of illness still going around, hopefully this will be the end of it!

We've had a good half term so far, we've met up with friends most days and have had two birthday parties as well. We met up with one of Max's school friends today at the park for the first time, they played beautifully.

Tomorrow we're going to a friend's house to play in the garden. They've got a hot tub and we're going to have a little picnic lunch. The weather has been lovely the past couple of days.
DH is off to Hull for 3 days tomorrow for a stag do which I don't think either of us are looking forward to.

Hope everyone has had a good day

BEE08 · 02/06/2022 20:48

Hi, we have had a good couple of days, did the weekly shop yesterday and picked up DSD then today we have been swimming and to the park.

squishymamma · 02/06/2022 20:51

Hello and happy long weekend! Though I guess it is also half term so probably doesn't feel very different...

@Chocolatetrifle hope you had a bit more of a lie in today.

@Motherofmonsters sounds like a good half term. How nice to have friends with a hot tub! Hoping the weather stays nice for you.

We went to a baby singing class today but DS2 is currently in this mood where everything is wrong so did a lot of whinging. Got to go for a walk and have coffee with a friend who has an 8 month old though so that was nice.

Have tried rotating DS1's toys today and having fewer out in the hopes he's more interested in playing. Our friends got DS2 some wooden stacking toys but they're aged 3+...seeing as he's only 5 months old, it'll be a long time before he can use them so we got them out for DS1. He actually really enjoyed them! But is still tv obsessed sadly, and DH doesn't help always asking if he wants it on. Think he can't be bothered actually playing if I'm honest 😂

Hope everyone gets a good sleep!

Happy Jubilee everyone!! It seems like everyone around here without small DC were pretty tipsy by lunchtime, I was jealous! Glad you’ve had a good half term @Motherofmonsters .
We seem to have finally after a very long fortnight turned a corner with the illnesses. DS was back on his feet today and DDs chickenpox looking better. I am praying they can both go to nursery on Monday otherwise I think I will get sacked.
Did a v simple tuff tray and they played for an hour, v satisfying. Still need to clear it up of course 😆

Chocolatetrifle · 02/06/2022 21:04

Hi all, we've not had a too bad a day, we went to a little kids event at a rugby club, bouncy castle, tombola, cake stalls etc.

However, ds1 has been on once again all day, so I'm back to turning off YouTube. See if it helps.

Tomorrow it's my jubilee party! I'm doing an afternoon tea party. In the morning we are supposed to be meeting one of DH's friends and their son in the morning in the park but I think it may rain.

Sleep well everyone xx

Chocolatetrifle · 02/06/2022 21:06

Fab tuff tray @Lostthetastefordahlias ! Glad you have turned a corner on the illnesses, fingers crossed.

Chocolatetrifle · 02/06/2022 21:08

We have made these jubilee crowns.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 02/06/2022 21:24

Oh thats a good idea @Chocolatetrifle , they look lovely, may have to try that. Hope the party goes well!

squishymamma · 02/06/2022 21:35

Now I'm inspired @Lostthetastefordahlias and @Chocolatetrifle! Maybe I should find some good jubilee activities for DS1 to remind him of his half-Britishness...

Have a lovely party @Chocolatetrifle.

And I cross posted with you @BEE08 - glad you're also having a good half term!

Motherofmonsters · 03/06/2022 17:51

Hope your party has gone okay @chocolatetrifle.

We went to our friends this afternoon and they had a good time in the garden/hot tub. We left about 3 so went to a local jubilee party at the park. Queued for 45mins for an ice cream and then DS cut his foot on broken glass. It's a big cut but luckily not deep. Definitely ready for bedtime now.

BEE08 · 03/06/2022 19:09

They are lovely crowns @Chocolatetrifle

Sounds like you had a nice time at your friends this afternoon @Motherofmonsters Hope DS foot is ok.

it is our 5th Wedding Anniversary today so me, OH and the children went for a walk in the country park. DS who is not long turned 3 to walk about 2 miles with some encouragement. As I don’t drive I do tend to use the buggy more than I feel I should, so am trying to encourage DS to walk so was very pleased he walked today.
Me and OH are having an Indian takeaway tonight.

Motherofmonsters · 04/06/2022 07:59

Sound alike you've had a lovely anniversary @BEE08. I'm trying to get DD out the buggy more too, she's not the biggest fan of walking.

Both kids are still asleep, it's very odd. I'm actually starting to worry but logically they're fine

BEE08 · 04/06/2022 09:15

@Motherofmonsters DS didn’t wake up till 8:45am which is late for him and went to bed at normal time. We most of worn him out yesterday with all that walking.

Today I have booked a play session at a local stay and play cafe, so hopefully they enjoy that.

Lostthetastefordahlias · 04/06/2022 11:00

Happy anniversary @BEE08 . Hope your DS foot heals quickly @Motherofmonsters - how annoying, people should be more careful in a park!
We had a lovely day yesterday, went to a pretty deserted beach with my aunt and sister, who basically looked after them while I sat down peacefully haha. Today the weather is rubbish and DH is away, was hoping to get them in the garden but its freezing.

Chocolatetrifle · 04/06/2022 11:00

Morning!

Hope DS's foot is ok Motherofmonsters? Howxawful that he cut his foot there. Good both had a lie in though.

Happy anniversary BEE08! Congratulations.

My dS2 refuses to go in the buggy now so I don't bother trying it. He just wants to run after dS2.

The jubilee party went well thank you.

This afternoon we are going to Speke Hall, see if there are any jubilee events there.

Hope everyone is ok today 😊.
