Sounds like you've had a lovely morning @squishymamma even though you've had a rubbish night sleep.

DS's therapy was good, he was bouncing around when he got in which I videoed and showed them. They then asked for us to go back today to see if two lots in a row would help. Apparently he relies solely on his vision so I need to do lots of activities with him while taking away his vision to get him to notice his other senses. All a tad complicated.

He now needs to go every Friday and then every other Saturday. She has said the Saturdays will be free which is a relief as it's not cheap.

DS is off to PIL for a sleepover in a minute, hopefully he'll be nice and regulated for them. He's zoned out watching tv at the moment.

Hope everyone is having a good afternoon

Chocolatetrifle · 29/01/2022 16:54

@Motherofmonsters, oh that sounds great for your DS...how about getting DS to smell different things or getting him to taste different things while blindfolded. Also thinking of the lucky dip box, ask him to guess what different household items or fruits or veg are before taking them out.

@squishymamma, sorry you had a bad night, hope DS is feeling a bit better now. Hope you got what you wanted from Ikea. We literally live about 5 mins away from ikea here.

We've had football this morning and we made some more jam and also had the slime and chocolate kinetic sand out. Come to think of it your DS might really love the scented kinetic sand @Motherofmonsters. I got mine off Amazon.

Oh, ds2 was up about 4 times again last night so it was just a lucky couple of nights the other day I think.

pompomseverywhere · 30/01/2022 10:31

Happy Sunday everyone. Sunny here again so we'll go out later on the balance bike. Does anyone's child enjoy their balance bike and what do you plan to do next? Stabilisers or not?

squishymamma · 31/01/2022 10:37

Happy Monday!

Glad to hear therapy is going well @Motherofmonsters and that you don't have to pay for all the sessions - it's crazy how much these things cost! We've been taking DS2 to a chiropractor and it's around £50 for half an hour Confused

@pompomseverywhere my DS1 loves his bike, its less of a balance bike and more a three wheeler. DH and I are in 2 different camps, I had stabilisers when I was growing up and still remember trying to learn how to ride without them (on grass Grin), DH never had any and thinks that way is better so you don't become reliant on them. I guess it depends on the child? My DS1 won't care but I was a bit more risk-averse as a child so for me they were a good stepping stone Grin

We've all been knackered all weekend so didn't do much, had a roast yesterday with PIL so that was nice. Have been struggling to sleep again lately even though both DS are really doing well at minimal wakeups. Always the case for me after illness, my body is still on high alert for sounds/cries for help I guess.

Long night tonight as DH has a work meeting so I have to deal with both DC alone, and DS2 has begun having fussy periods from like 6-9pm which coincides nicely with bedtime for DS1. Send a search party if I don't reappear again...

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend and has a good day today!

Scotabroad24 · 31/01/2022 15:06

@squishymamma oooh did you get anything nice from IKEA? I couldn't spend all day wandering round there. Its quite a new shop where we live so its very exciting. Sending you good luck for bedtime, hope it goes smoothly!

@chocatetrifle hope your ds slept better last night, its always a pain when they sleep through a couple of nights, gives you false hope then it all starts again! I've given up hoping ds sleeps through, used to drive myself crazy about it so I'm in the mindset of itll happen when it happens!

Hope everyone had a good weekend! We had a disaster of a day on Saturday, ds wouldn't nap so by the time we got to the aquarium he was an overtired psychotic screaming mess Confused he wouldn't even look at the fish and just kept throwing himself face down on the ground. So a waste of a 4 hour round trip arghh!
Its his first day at nursery tomorrow, he's just going in for 2/3 hours in the morning for this week to see how he gets on. I think they'll have to physically push me out the door, I'm dreading it!

Chocolatetrifle · 31/01/2022 15:42

Hi everyone,

Happy Monday everyone.

dS2 slept dreadfully last night, kept waking up saying hello mummy. I've just had a costa coffee and been to Hobbycraft to get some supplies so feeling a bit perkier. My ds1 was in a dreadful mood yesterday too so it was not a brilliant day.

@Scotabroad24, oh sorry to hear that the aquarium was not as enjoyable as you thought. It's hard when you plan something specific like that but they are just not in the mood for it. Thinking of you for tomorrow too. Hope it goes well for you and your DS. Let us know.

@squishymamma, good luck for this evening, let us know how you get on. Hopefully both DS's will settle well for you.

I'm feeling a bit weird today, we have FIL funeral on Thursday and my mum is having a heart investigation on the same day.

Hope you are all ok

Chocolatetrifle · 31/01/2022 15:51

@pompomseverywhere, we moved onto a three wheeled trike. Going to get a decent bike with stabilisers for DS1 this summer. DS1 didn't like the balance bike. dS2 has not been on it yet.

squishymamma · 31/01/2022 16:16

@Scotabroad24 oh good luck for tomorrow! I was worried when DS1 started that I'd struggle but everyone was so lovely and he got stuck in playing straight away, and I thought it was a great place for him to hang out with kids his own age not just mummy Smile

@Chocolatetrifle hope you get some more sleep tonight. Will be thinking of you on Thursday, it's hard going through periods like this where lots of serious things are going on.

Obviously I'm on MN now because we've gone for screens screens and some more screens. Feeling really drained and anxious for some reason. Nursery said DS1 had "a loose stomach" today which I thought meant diarrhoea but apparently my translation is off according to DH, still makes me wonder if he's ill after the weekend we had...but also he's running around and playing like normal (occasionally even happier than normal) so I don't know what to think.

DS2 has been really fussy today and feeding 24/7, I've been rubbish at drinking/eating so maybe that's why I'm so drained Grin

Sorry for the long monologue, I sometimes treat this thread like a support group! Makes me feel better knowing there are other mums out there that also have hard times (though obviously I'd rather you all have a great time)

Will keep you all updated on the saga tonight is sure to be Wink

I've just spilt half a bottle of Sambucol argggggh.

How was everyones' night?

Motherofmonsters · 01/02/2022 08:29

Oh no, I don't think you could of spilt anything stickier (or expensive) @chocolatetrifle

Rubbish night here and DD is very screechy this morning so not a good combination.

It's MIL birthday today so I've got to nip to the shop to get her a card after the school run, come back for the shopping delivery and then washing machine engineer is coming this afternoon. We're then off to her birthday tea so bit of a strange day.

Hope everyone has a good day

squishymamma · 01/02/2022 08:37

Sounds like a busy day @Motherofmonsters, hope your washing machine gets fixed easily!

@Chocolatetrifle what a pain, hate when that happens.

Had a mixed night, DS1 slept through when he finally slept but wasn't really himself this morning. Perked up a little after some food but I'm not totally convinced. Sent him to nursery anyway because he had no other symptoms of illness and DH was convinced he just needed to get out and do some activity, and we told them not to hesitate to send him home if they thought he needed that. So I'm really just sat waiting for them to call Grin

DS2 had a party from 3-5am so I'm feeling a bit drained this morning. Running out of things to watch and feeling a bit bored and fed up of maternity leave if I'm honest! Was the same with DS1.

OP posts:
Chocolatetrifle · 01/02/2022 11:11

@Motherofmonsters, I know, it's too expensive to spill! At least it wasn't antibiotics, I've done that before with DS1's antibiotics and had to call the Dr to admit to spilling half the bottle. I'm a bit clumsy really. Hope your washing machine gets sorted.

@squishymamma, hope your DS1 will be ok and sorry to hear your dS2 was up a lot too. It's exhausting and very very tiring. Can you get something or plan something just for you, a treat to look forward to?

@Scotabroad24, how are you today with DS at nursery? And thru didn't have kine

I've started researching the family tree on Ancestry. My granny's mum had 11 children! 11! How on earth did she cope? I struggle with 2! And they didn't have kinetic sand or Cbeebies back then Grin.

Hope everyones' days go ok.

Chocolatetrifle · 02/02/2022 08:27

DS1 was sick 3 times yesterday afternoon and evening and had a fever. Think it's a tummy bug. Seems ok today but he's off preschool obviously. We have FIL funeral tomorrow and I'm feeling a bit stressed to say the least. I'm in all day with both today, send some help!

squishymamma · 02/02/2022 08:49

@Chocolatetrifle sorry to hear that but glad he's feeling better. Can you distract him/both of them with screens or something while you have a bit of down time? Hope there's not too much to do before the funeral for you. Sending Flowers

Well nursery didn't call us until 3pm when I had thought to pick DS1 up anyway Grin he apparently had a massive poo that went all up his back and smelt like sick, bleh. But he's gotten better and better since then and is back in today because he seems like his usual self again. DH on the other hand is feeling a bit iffy so maybe it was a tummy bug after all? Who knows.

DS2 and I are at the physio today, our health clinic is really obsessed with favourite sides so because DS2 looks to his right most of the time they've referred us. Did the same with DS1.

Might go on a walk later with some women in what I guess is our version of an NCT group. We'll see if anyone turns up!

Sorry to hear your DSs have been poorly @squishymamma and @Chocolatetrifle

DS2 has decided he now wakes up at dawn, 4am, 5.20am, 5am were the last 3 mornings Confused I'm hoping he will nap soon so I can nap as well.

Wednesdayafternoon · 02/02/2022 11:39

Hi all, please can I join?
I have a 5 and 1 (almost 2) year old.
I struggle so much when having to stay indoors because they just get so restless! I also struggle though finding good activities for them both due to their current age gap and needs so I'm just often left feeling suffocated!
I am a single mum.
I love my boys more then anything in the world but the trapped feeling is something I totally relate too!

Chocolatetrifle · 02/02/2022 12:36

@Wednesdayafternoon welcome to the groupSmile. Its definitely hard to manage when they both have different needs and interests.

DS1 said he had a sore throat before so I had a look and can see white spots on his tonsils, great. No appointments at the doctor's , so waiting for the local walk in centre to call me back....I ended up crying in front of the boys and then a delivery driver was banging the door down so had to open it and he could clearly tell I'd been upset Blush.
Struggling a bit this week and definitely don't need another episode of tonsillitis for DS1. At his ENT appointment the specialist said he's borderline for the tonsilectomy.

Thanks for listening Smile. Onwards and upwards for the afternoon. Hopefully I can get some antibiotics for DS1.

Scotabroad24 · 02/02/2022 13:23

Hey everyone!
Sorry to hear there's lots of little ones not feeling well, @squishymamma i think there must be a stomach bug doing the rounds, a few of ds little friends have had it! Hope you got out on a walk.

@chocolatetrifle oh I'm so sorry you're stressed today - with good reason it sounds! Can you plonk him in front of the TV whilst you wait for the docs to call you back?

@camomila ugh early wake ups are the worst! Hope you got a nap! My ds went through a phase of 5am wakings, hence my 5 coffees a day habit!

Ds has been to nursery yesterday and today just for a couple of hours in the morning. It was so hard to leave him yesterday he was so upset and clinging onto me. They said he settled after a while and played with the other kids though. Today was a bit better, i basically chucked him at his key worker and ran off Grin he'll stay for lunchtime tomorrow and if he's ok we'll go for a full day Friday!

Motherofmonsters · 02/02/2022 14:07

Hi everyone,

Just got back from picking DS up from school for being sick twice.. looks like we've all got sickness going around. DD is gutted as we just got to playgroup and then had to leave again.

Sorry your struggling today @chocolatetrifle. Hopefully you'll get a phone call soon. Don't worry about crying in front of them.

Did you go for your walk @squishymamma

Motherofmonsters · 02/02/2022 18:27

My washing machine has broken again.. not my day

Chocolatetrifle · 02/02/2022 18:39

Got the antibiotics for DS1.

Oh no @Motherofmonsters that's utterly s*.
How is your DS feeling now? If I lived near you, I'd do your washing!

@squishymamma how was your day in the end?

@Scotabroad24, that's great that DS was ok starting nursery, was thinking you! Hope tomorrow goes ok too.

Scotabroad24 · 02/02/2022 18:45

Glad you got antibiotics for him @chocolatetrifle, fingers crossed he'll improve quickly!

@motherofmonsters, what a nightmare! Worst timing for it to break as well with a sickness bug. Do you have family or friends nearby you can rope in to do a few loads?

Hope everyone's little ones get better soon!

Motherofmonsters · 02/02/2022 20:49

DS is absolutely fine now obviously (hopefully I haven't spoken to soon) he's sad he can't go back to school this week. Is it bad I am a little bit to.

Ha thanks @chocolatetrifle. I'm very lucky that my mum lives down the road and PIL are about 10mins away. I'm not even joking when I say MIL doing washing.

I'm glad you've got the antibiotics @chocolate hopefully he'll feel better quickly

Motherofmonsters · 02/02/2022 21:51

DS is still awake, I want to go to bed but I'm waiting for him to fall asleep else he'll be trying to get in my bed

Motherofmonsters · 03/02/2022 10:21

Morning,

Hope everyone is having a good morning.

Mine is going very slowly but they're mostly playing nicely
