Police and social services need to be held to account. They are always aware, they always visit. Everything is reported to them. Why don’t they act time and time again another day another child murdered and tortured over a periods of months. Families need to stop assuming that a report to the police or social services will result in any action.
@danni0509

I hope she can rebuild her life and learn to make the right choices, she’s going to need a lot of support.

Would you be saying that if the evil bastard was male?

She should rot in jail.
If the exact same evidence was produced and frankie was male, I would say exactly the same thing.

Why would gender change my mind?

Badnightguaranteed · 14/12/2021 13:20

It’s not transcripts from court exactly but you can read the live updates by David Jagger at the website of local Bradford newspaper , the Telegraph and Argus. His reporting has been meticulous throughout, but I assume the evidence that really swayed the jury was the video footage, which we can’t see.

God the photo of that poor child’s face in the report. Heart breaking 😔
Yes. She looks like my little girl when she's asleep and I can't bear it.
Somethingsnappy · 14/12/2021 13:21

@Itsnotover

She has admitted to, and been found guilty of child cruelty, so, yes, in short.

Child cruelty wasn’t the charge.

No, but during the course of the trial, she admitted multiple counts of child cruelty, and so, yes of course she is, also charged with and found guilty of this.
Malibuismysecrethome · 14/12/2021 13:23

Another poor little soul tortured and let down by authority.
Re the mothers low IQ and her lacking the capacity to understand her actions. Her low iQ didn’t stop her use of her mobile phone and Snapchat videoing of this poor babies suffering.

It didn’t stop her make up or selfie skills either. What a load of codswallop. Both should hang on the end of a rope.

Lougle · 14/12/2021 13:24

@PeggyGa

Where do you read the transcripts from court?

Why are some posters apologising for the mother and saying she needs support. Ffs

Made me cry my eyes out. The world feels like its getting darker.

The 999 call is here, it’s chilling how calm SB sounds. Very much like Emma Tustin on the police footage regarding Arthur -

Utterly shocking and horrific, that poor baby Sad

RobertsRadio · 14/12/2021 13:31

Frankie Smith should never be allowed to have another child, she should be sterilised.

Many people with LDs have 'spiky profiles'. It means that they don't have the same level of deficits in all areas. Someone can have amazing knowledge of technology but no life skills, for example.

Ultimately, the jury not only heard all the evidence we have read in the news, but also had access to all the CCTV, conversation extracts, and saw Frankie herself give evidence.

I know that I was quite surprised when I saw the 'real' Emma Tustin on video because all I'd seen until that point was her filtered selfie. The reality was very different.

The jury spent hours deliberating, so who am I to say they got it wrong? I just see many of the children at DD1's special school when I hear evidence about Frankie, though, and it does give me pause for thought about the verdict.

The judge will take everything in to account when she sentences, and if the defence think the jury got it wrong, they'll appeal.

God what is going on. Why are some people so evil? It depresses me, and I haven't read the article, I'm not sure I even want to. How can people be so cruel and wicked to little children? It's just heart-breaking.

Poor baby Star and poor Arthur. Just so so sad. And appalling

CaveWoman1 · 14/12/2021 13:35

And why the fuck are these monsters recording the suffering of the children and babies they torture? That's a whole new level of evil

I think it was a way for Brockhill to ensure that Smith was 'obeying' her.
ancientgran · 14/12/2021 13:41

Did the prosecution have her assessed? I can't see anything about that.

mowglika · 14/12/2021 13:42

What am I reading here, people making excuses for FS because she has an IQ of 70? That’s pretty sickening in itself. She was wholly aware of what was happening to her child, and colluded in it with SB.

Seems many here would let her off, fortunately the court came to the right verdict.

She was abused - not all abused women go on to abuse and allow violence upon their child for months on end. If my toddler has a scratch I know about it and how it happened. She had no mercy for her own child. She should never be allowed any care of a child ever again and I hope if she does go on to have any children in the future they are taken away from her at birth.

boogiewithasuitcase · 14/12/2021 13:42

@ancientgran

Yes, her IQ was in the bottom 2% of people.

Nobody has said that she shouldn’t be held accountable which is why she was found guilty of causing or allowing Star’s death.

However, that’s not the same as saying she’s evil and she should not be afforded the chance of rehabilitation.

Drinkingallthewine · 14/12/2021 13:44

That's not how it works Confused

They were on trial for two counts - murder & causing or allowing the death or the alternative charge of manslaughter.

There was no charge brought against either of them for child cruelty during this trial.

Brockhill was found guilty of murder, Smith not guilty.
Smith was found guilty of Causing or allowing the death of a child.

Malibuismysecrethome · 14/12/2021 13:45

She’s certainly in the bottom 2%, she’s a monster

Itsnotover · 14/12/2021 13:45

It was a big chunk of the trial and it was referenced by the Judge in her instructions to the jury.
Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 14/12/2021 13:46

I can't understand how anyone can accept excuses for that bruise and not instantly with the background do note reviews

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 14/12/2021 13:47

However, that’s not the same as saying she’s evil and she should not be afforded the chance of rehabilitation.

If she has a mental age of 9 how exactly is she going to be rehabilitated from that? She needs sterilising. And a very long time in prison. Being of low IQ isn't a get out of jail free card. Christ my 2yo knows right from wrong better than that woman did.
