Stupidly hard work quiz (help!)

If anyone remembers previous years my work sets a stupidly hard quiz for us to have a go at every Christmas. This year's is no different....

I've managed to complete the first 8 puzzles myself but now I'm stuck Xmas Sad Very frustrating as I've got the gist of the puzzles but can't figure out what the answer is!

Here's the first one and here's my answers. If anyone can figure out the final answer (two words 5,7) I'd be ever so grateful 😊

Omg this is the first time i hot one of your puzzles right and I've been trying every year. I went if you hear hooves... horses. So looked at film number 5 and 7 both directed by James Cameron which fit. I thought it was too easy to be right gringringrin

bettytaghetti · 09/12/2021 09:58

Congrats everyone on your super sleuthing! 👏👏👏

I suppose we're all going to have to get on with our work now? Damn! 😂

ChonkyDonkey · 09/12/2021 10:39

Aww... gutted it's over. I hope you get an honourable mention in the company newsletter!

ldontWanna · 09/12/2021 12:41

@SoupDragon

I know, right?!

I'm not sure what made me look to see if it was an anagram.

I thought of it last night but couldn't get anything that made sense. In my defence it was late. Can't believe it's all over. Stupid work... missed most of the solving.

Thanks for posting @ApocalypseNowt! I remember this quiz from last year, although I was no help at all then either 😅
I'm glad I came upon it when all you super sleuths have solved the puzzle, it was fun to read the workings out all the way through.
I now think of this as the annual MN impossible quiz, looking forward to next year!

Ahh well done guys!

That’s really satisfying but also slightly gutted it’s over xD

FoxgloveSummers · 09/12/2021 14:16

ApocalypseNowt · 09/12/2021 14:39

Here is another round in case anyone wants a go:

Title is 'Sequences' and the instruction is 'find the missing entry in each sequence'

Enjoy! Grin

5 is Thursday
6 is Jupiter
12 is April

One of them is the rainbow but can't work out which...

Ulelia · 09/12/2021 14:49

Oh, 1 is violet

StrawberryFever · 09/12/2021 15:06

9 is Prisoner of Azkaban

StrawberryFever · 09/12/2021 15:12

2 is Die Another Day

StrawberryFever · 09/12/2021 15:21

I think 10 is The Lion, the Witch and the wardrobes - the initials all match the books from the Chronicles of Narnia though they're not in the right order for the books - maybe there are films which have been published out of sequence (or the events depicted take place not in the order published?)

StrawberryFever · 09/12/2021 15:24

14 Return of the Jedi

StrawberryFever · 09/12/2021 15:29

11 Bill Clinton

StrawberryFever · 09/12/2021 15:31

15 Boris Johnson

Yes I think it’s (internal) chronological order as The Magicians Nephew is a prequel to The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
TheGirlWhoLived · 09/12/2021 15:35
  1. Is Arsenal I think. It’s the different winners of the premier league in order… Man Utd, Blackburn, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Leicester, Liverpool
LavenderAskew · 09/12/2021 15:41

This one looks like something I might be able to have a vague attempt at.

But what the fudge do the numbers in brackets represent.

iklboodolphrednosedpaindear · 09/12/2021 15:48

13 is Matt Smith

minou123 · 09/12/2021 15:58

This is what we have so far

1 Violet (5)
2 Die Another Day(5)
3
4
5 Thursday (4)
6 Jupiter (5)
7
8
9 Prisoner of Azkaban (3)
10 The Lion The Witch and The Wadrobe (7)
11 Bill Clinton (3)
12 April (4)
13 Matt Smith (5)
14 Return of the Jedi (3)
15 Boris Johnson (2)
16 Arsenal (5)
17

minou123 · 09/12/2021 16:03

So, if you select the letter in the answer using the number in brackets, you get:

EN RT _ Y INLISTON

Enter Toy in list one? Maybe? But list one is the colours of the rainbow, so I think I may have got this wrong.

FoxgloveSummers · 09/12/2021 16:04

ooh 4 is BROWN I think - order of colours in snooker???

FoxgloveSummers · 09/12/2021 16:06

I think OP explained the answer earlier - not sure where the Y has come from but I think it was "entry [number] in list [number]"
