Yeah, I thought the same.

@Feenie
Again, a parent recovering from a suicide attempt and needing hospital treatment for a while, even 6 months surely doesn't mean that the children got taken off the mother forever?

I understand it was the catalyst for them being removed but there was obviously more to it.

I'm sure I read that jumping out the window hadn't been reported so SS wouldn't have known that.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 03/12/2021 21:47

It can't be as black and white as that though.
I'm sure there have been other parents who have attempted suicide and not had their children taken off them permanently.

Someone on the previous thread said her DC went to school with the children that were removed and they were removed before she attempted suicide, that the suicide was after her partner left her.

Feenie · 03/12/2021 21:48

Such a serious bid would have to be thoroughly investigated though - and she clearly isn't a fit parent so just scratching the surface would have found that out.

The real mystery is why she was permitted to keep the next two. Which was obviously a huge mistake, poor kids.

I don’t know how Twitter works as I’m not on it but I would like to see news about how fast tweets about people being sick of hearing lessons learnt are trending.

bellamountain · 03/12/2021 21:58

Have there been any reports from neighbours? Did they notice anything? Surely someone on the street would have been suspicious?

DueyCheatemAndHow · 03/12/2021 22:00

@bellamountain TH went next door and told them to ignore Arthur's cries.

The whole case is just utterly heartbreaking

Yes the next door neighbour was told by TH to ignore shouting from the house. She said in court (I think) that aggressively swearing at children was normal and nothing out of the ordinary.
KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 03/12/2021 22:01

@bellamountain afaik the neighbours did make a report but it was ignored.

Porcupineintherough · 03/12/2021 22:03

@Malibuismysecrethome she must have jumped off something pretty high, her injuries were extensive and consistent with a fall from height.

I guess whilst she was in hospital it made sense for the children to go live with their fathers and hard to reverse that once they were settled but quite possibly she didnt want them back, or was judged not to be capable of looking after them. Who knows, it was all done via the family court? Lucky escape for those children.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 03/12/2021 22:03

@user1481840227 you can ask for his sentence to be received. Just search it on Google and if you make a request they HAVE to investigate it. They don't have to review it but they have to decide if there are grounds for a review. Anybody can do this for any case!

Kippersfortea · 03/12/2021 22:05

I read in an article from Tustins ex partner that she was abusive, manipulative, neglected the kids, and after they went to live with their dads and she got dumped she jumped off a building to try to get her boyfriend back and ended up in hospital for 6 months recovering from her injuries. Also that she cut them off from their extended families and isolated them from their friends. That she had the babies for attention, then lost interest once their were born and had 'not one maternal bone in her body' I mean I'm not sure that's the whole truth either but it certainly is damning and suggests a pattern of being like this in relationships. Hughes is a vile, weak worm of a man who deserves far more than 21 years, no sympathy from me as he could have been a protective factor and he had family to go to who loved him and Arthur, but Trustin looks like the primary perpetrator here. If you take away her gender/sex from this, then she has a classic abuser profile even down to the attempted suicide attempts used to manipulate others, having babies for control over a partner and narcissistic traits. Even her own stepdad reported concerns for Arthur anonymously, says it al really

Malibuismysecrethome · 03/12/2021 22:12

A quick google search shows that any fall over 50 ft is fatal. Even one of 25 ft. She would be in the medical journals. I don’t believe she fell 6 storeys she is an accomplished liar after all. What made me suspicious was a conversation I had with a surgeon a few years ago.

Porcupineintherough · 03/12/2021 22:15

Ok but what does it matter if she jumped from 6 stories or 3, she jumped off something significant and could easily have died. It wasnt a fake suicide attempt - or if it was she gravely miscalculated.

Ellie56 · 03/12/2021 22:18

@Secretminty0

I was also really sad to read how Arthur's mum ruined her life, she was privately educated from what I've read and had a promising future. The tribute her mother read was very articulate and poignant. The life he could've had with her. Every adult is his life failed him.
Yes Olivia Labinjo-Halcro's statement was very eloquent and well written. She's clearly a very intelligent woman. Arthur was reportedly a very bright little boy, wise beyond his years, so it's obvious he got that from his mother, not the vile gormless git dad.

The overwhelming irony is that had Olivia not killed someone else's son, the likelihood is she would not now be mourning the tragic death of her son.

If Olivia had not been in prison, Arthur would never have ended up living full time with his useless twat of a father and that vile evil bitch.

I'm not in the UK.

Kippersfortea · 03/12/2021 22:22

Suicide attempts are a common technique used in coercive control by abusers. Of course some of them do actually kill themselves in the process, by accident or to punish their ex for leaving them

That’s not how it works, children aren’t just automatically removed if the parent has shown improvement, which she may well have. BUT there should always be social services involvement even in a low level way to act as a support mechanism
Naughtynovembertree · 03/12/2021 22:38

She touches her nose when she says "Arthur then went on all fours" which I believe is a sign of lying or trying to conceal something.
She says "Arthur was told to go on the thinking step, he said no, then he got on all fours.

DueyCheatemAndHow · 03/12/2021 22:39

@user1481840227 oh. I'll do it then xx

Ellie56 · 03/12/2021 22:39

Don't know whether this has been said before, but I'm glad to see that the press are now using the police mugshots showing Tustin as the ugly, evil witch she really is, instead of the nauseating, simpering photoshopped images we've seen accompanying all the trial reports.

And for saying she spent hours having her hair done over two days, all I can say is Affy or whatever her name is, was either having a laugh or struggling to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Grin

Geppili · 03/12/2021 22:40

@mathanxiety thanks for your tragically insightful answer about the salt. It is such an unnatural act. That poor, poor little boy.

Naughtynovembertree · 03/12/2021 22:40

Inspite of the rumours about him not being in a safe home with josh real mum, the pictures of him with his mum are the first ones I've seen where he looks truly happy and she does gaze at him like an in love mum..

Naughtynovembertree · 03/12/2021 22:41

Ellie I couidnt understand that either!
Two days, what was happening?
