Finally. We can say it.

I've just utterly broken down for Arthur.

Omg the mail is showing her actual body cam footage at the house just after they arrived. She's talking saying how much he "hurt her" when she was tying to pick him up off the floor.
That poor weak boy who couldn't lift a duvet. Angry

Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 17:04

The mugshot is quite a contrast with the filtered selfie!

BiBabbles · 02/12/2021 17:05

So heartbreaking and horrific, the terror Arthur and Tustin's young children went though.

I hope the surviving kids and family have good support.

I wish that this could mean better safeguarding for kids who report similar and that those types of murderous threats could be taken more seriously. I sadly don't think it will happen though, not with things as they are.

Somethingsnappy · 02/12/2021 17:05

How long does it usually take for sentencing after a conviction?

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2021 17:06

Where did the film of him struggling with his bedding come from?

Bagamoyo1 · 02/12/2021 17:07

@Bluntness100

I have to be honest, I sincerely hope both these people are horrifically tortured in prison every single day for the rest of their lives.

Every single day I want someone to feed them salt, starve them, make them stand for hours on end, beat them, abuse them, mock them, make them sleep on the cold floor, video them and let’s us all see. Every single day I want the other prisoners to do that to them, for the rest of their lives.

Just like they did every single day to that little boy. And I want them to live till a ripe old age in prison, taking that daily torture they inflicted, and then die a cold horrible lonely death as people video them and mock them like that little boy died.

It’s the only justice.

I agree. And I think she will actually have an awful time in prison. Presumably she’ll be with women who are locked up for non-child abusing crimes, who are desperately missing their kids, and will be sickened by someone who could murder a child.

I am sure BBC News said sentencing is tomorrow.

She took it. Unbelievable I know.
alexander2001 · 02/12/2021 17:10

@BleuJay

Incredibly sad as he was not a forgotten child. Members of his extended family wanted to help him.

His death is not just at the hands of the vile creatures posing as parents but the people that could have removed him from that environment and saved him.

Oh don't worry, they'll be a heartfelt apology and lessons will be learned.... they ve trotting out this line since the death of Jasmine Beckford and no doubt before.

We need well funded public services, we haven't got these, so the vulnerable pay the price.

Only 30% of social workers feel their work load is manageable, most graduates join the profession and then leave.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 17:10

@Sparklingbrook

They had cctv in their living room. She had set it up because she was worried social services were going to say she was hitting him so set it up to prove she wasn’t. Set up her own downfall really!
BleuJay · 02/12/2021 17:10

I don’t think she’ll have a hard time in prison.

There will be other monsters like her who will befriend her or weaker ones who will believe her story of the boy being a brat and will look up to her.

The guards have to protect her.

She will put on five stone within months and have a bushy life albeit whilst locked up.

Sadly the do gooders will make excuses foe her give her counselling blah blah blah.

The only lesson she will learn is if we put her on the end of a rope.

Bring back the death penalty .

BleuJay · 02/12/2021 17:11

Cushy ^

Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 17:13

How can she be that calm in the footage on the Daily Mail merely an hour or so after she killed him? Total psychopath.

Wherearemymarbles · 02/12/2021 17:13

Yep to PP
I dont think Rose West has suffered too much

Fluffmonkey82 · 02/12/2021 17:13

Bagelsandbrie, I didn't realise it was CCTV, I apologise I thought she filmed it herself. Evil aswell as thick. Rest in peace beautiful little Arthur.

thelittlestrhino · 02/12/2021 17:13

@Wnikat

The jury holding a minute’s silence for poor Arthur has me in absolute sobbing bits.
A jury member had requested a minute's silence for Arthur on remembrance day but it was turned down as not appropriate. The judge did say it could be something done later on.

The 2 older children were removed from ET's care at or after the time she attempted suicide by throwing herself off a 6 story car park several years ago.

LadyCleathStuart · 02/12/2021 17:14

I've hardly been able to concentrate all day knowing the jury were out on this. I'm so glad that they returned the guilty verdict.

MyFamiIyAndOtherAnimals · 02/12/2021 17:14

@PicsInRed

When you look at the facts of the case, certain things stood out which should have been massive red flags to social services e.g. he was sleeping in the living area with no bed or room of his own.

How many times have we seen concerned mothers worried that their children are going for contact at the father/girlfriend's house and there is no bed or room for the child, and this is not considered cause to stop contact? Amongst other concerns of emotional neglect.

I'd go so far as to say that this case is emblematic of the problematic institutional emphasis on father's contact at all costs, over the welfare of the child. Even this manslaughterer's own mother was concerned and the authorities did nothing.

It speaks volumes that the jury have been excused from any jury service for the rest of their lives (I haven't seen the video and won't).

That poor poor, child - and tonight more just like him are out there.

Totally agree

Are social workers facing any backlash for yet another failure to protect a child?

Applesonthelawn · 02/12/2021 17:17

I've cried for weeks about this, have never been so badly affected by something I've read in the papers, and his poor mother's statement about his superpower smile has really finished me off. Such a beautiful child with such a glow, fought so hard, so brave, so smart, tried so hard to be heard. So badly let down by so many people. So many people would have loved him, strangers like me but even his own grandparents. Utterly heartbreaking. Bless you little Arthur.

AliceMck · 02/12/2021 17:17
@PicsInRed yes I do agree with that. By all accounts he had a happy life with his mum. This happened near where I live and I also know someone whose child was at the same school as him when he lived with his mum. It also said in the court that his old nursery worker said he was very happy. So she was a murderer as well but she loved her child. I hope she knows some people who are near Tustin.
I was thinking the same as you. I don’t know the circumstances surrounding her sentence but from what I’ve read he was a very healthy happy little boy until he went to live with those monsters. I’ve often wondered how his poor mother is doing, I know she’s been sentenced to for a horrible crime but that dosnt change the fact she obviously loved her son and took care of him.

It’s chilling how she can be so upbeat, considering she has just killed a child. She then goes on to play the victim, only shedding tears when she describes how this frail, vulnerable child attacked her and smashed up her house. Cold, absolutely cold as ice.
TheAntiGardener · 02/12/2021 17:21

@PicsInRed

He went from Disney dad to single dad and he couldn't deal with it

I think the mask slipped and he was always a monster just like Tustin.

I don’t know. Having read the reports of this case as it went along, it sounds like the dad was ‘adequate’ when he and Arthur were living with his parents. I found that one of the most upsetting things about this whole case - the concept that there may be people out there who could be ok parents until they come into contact with someone who wants to hurt their child. At which point they not only go along with it, but do so enthusiastically.
ShirleyPhallus · 02/12/2021 17:21

The video of him is utterly haunting. I hope she gets what she deserves, prison isn’t very kind to child murderers and abusers
