Finally. We can say it.

I've just utterly broken down for Arthur.

Just heartbreaking for that poor child. Failed by so many people. I can't bring myself to watch the video, the photo of the bruising is bad enough.

I think, if I had been on the jury, I'd need a few extra weeks off work to get myself in a better headspace.

I hope they're scared, every single day they're in prison for. Praying for a lengthy sentence for them both.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 16:49

I hope the hairdresser and her boyfriend also feel suitably guilty. They had Arthur in their home, 2 days in a row, including the day he died, being shouted at, deprived of food and drink and being made to face a wall for 6 hours each day and neither of them thought to ring 999 or social services. Absolute scum.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 02/12/2021 16:49

@Nicknacky

According to the Daily Mail he is yet to be buried due to legal disputes. Even in death he can’t get peace.

And whoever said he was happy with his mum, that certainly isn’t true. He witnessed horrific domestic abuse with her, according to the DM.

That was me. I don't know first hand but he was apparently happy in nursery at the time of living with her. And I heard he was a well looked after kid. He may have been witnessing that and it's horrendous to compare this but it wasn't abuse directed at him so I would say he was happier. He clearly should've been with someone other than them. Apparently they were doing a balloon release in his old garden the other day at cranmore road.
AuntMasha · 02/12/2021 16:50

She looks as hard as nails in the mugshot photo. A cruel face.

Wnikat · 02/12/2021 16:50

The jury holding a minute’s silence for poor Arthur has me in absolute sobbing bits.

JudgeJ · 02/12/2021 16:50

@Bagelsandbrie

Evil woman.

I can’t believe they’ve found Hughes not guilty of depriving food and water - he was in the bloody house with Arthur and must have known he was hungry / thirsty!

I can't understand how the man got away with merely manslaughter, I've never heard of the foreman of the jury asking the court to observe a minute's silence and the judge agreeing, it shows the horror they've had to sit through, I sometimes wonder what the long term affect is on jurors in such cases.
ufucoffee · 02/12/2021 16:51

I read that throughout being interviewed by police she showed no remorse. I hope every day of the rest of her life is miserable. I hate them both.

Naughtynovembertree · 02/12/2021 16:51

Bagels I didn't realise that was the actual day he died I thought it was the day before?
Even then dad was apparently leaning on Arthur in the car with his full body weight and he was in the well of the car.

Fluffymule · 02/12/2021 16:51

I don't want to hear or read the phrase 'lessons will be learnt' from the Director of Children's Services or anyone from Solihull Council.

It's always the line, and it's always total bullshit.

Poor, innocent little Arthur. Failed by everyone.

problembottom · 02/12/2021 16:52

That woman is pure evil and Arthur's father is no better. My heart breaks for that little boy.

Naughtynovembertree · 02/12/2021 16:52

But yes I hope the hairdresser and her bf also realise the enormity of their own complicity in this.

NoSquirrels · 02/12/2021 16:52

@Sparklingbrook

I didn't realise Tustin had 4 children of her own. Where were they?
Two younger children (4&5) were living there the whole time.

Hughes was at the supermarket with Tustin’s children when she murdered him.

It’s absolutely harrowing the details of this case, his life and death. I cannot comprehend it.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 16:53

It was the day he died. They went there on the 15th and 16th June. They arrived home at 12-1pm and Tustin killed him around 2.30pm. Life support was switched off on the 17th.
Malibuismysecrethome · 02/12/2021 16:53

I would like to thank the prosecution team and barristers for ensuring that this monster was convicted.

The video of Arthur is utterly heart wrenching.
I do hope they both get prison justice for the suffering they caused Arthur.

Sparklingbrook · 02/12/2021 16:53

Thank you for the info re Tustin's 4 children @Bagelsandbrie, it's heartbreaking to think her younger two were witness to what was going on.

Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 16:53

@Wnikat

Me too. Incredibly moving.
Harriet1216 · 02/12/2021 16:54

Incredibly sad, that poor little boy. This is why people should always report it if they suspect that a child is in danger, or being neglected.
The terrible thing is, that people did raise their concerns and not enough was done. RIP Arthur.

Franklin12 · 02/12/2021 16:54

They give people like this with so called blended families chance after chance. SW'swont judge but that bruising, surely something should have happened then. Were SS 'looking into it'?

And yes, please no more 'lessons will be learnt'.

JudgeJ · 02/12/2021 16:55

I think she'll have a very difficult in prison, hopefully we won't be doing too much to protect her.
Bagelsandbrie · 02/12/2021 16:56

@Sparklingbrook

Thank you for the info re Tustin's 4 children *@Bagelsandbrie*, it's heartbreaking to think her younger two were witness to what was going on.
💐

I worry what the long term damage to them will be. They must have witnessed so much. Just unspeakable.

bluebellYellow · 02/12/2021 16:57

Those mugshots! I feel sick. Looking at the faces of evil.

CarrotSticks19 · 02/12/2021 16:58

I don't think you can ever get justice really for this sort of thing. Someone capable of doing this is never going to truelly feel proper remorse, and what good what that do now. I am glad she has been convicted but I wish he had been convicted of murder too. He was fully complicit in the abuse and knew full well what he was exposing his child to when he left him with her.

Yes social services have a part to play. It seems the abuse was flagged up multiple times.

Poor little Arthur. And the poor children of tuskin too, I didn't realise there were other small children who will have presumably witnessed what was going on.

Bluntness100 · 02/12/2021 16:58

I can't understand how the man got away with merely manslaughter

It’s intent. He wasn’t in the house when his son died. They couldn’t prove he intended to kill his son, they could only prove she did.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 02/12/2021 17:02

@AuntMasha

She looks as hard as nails in the mugshot photo. A cruel face.
About time we had the real picture and not that filtered one. She's a real bitch. I wish I could've taken Arthur out of there. Obviously I didn't know them or anything but I live quite close. I know that doesn't mean anything but it's just heartbreaking. I'd happily take care of a lovely little boy like him. I feel awful for his grandparents and uncle.
JacquelineCarlyle · 02/12/2021 17:02

This case is horrific - that poor child. May he rest in peace.

(& I agree @Bluntness100 - I hope they're tortured and suffer a lot in prison).
