Worst pain you've ever experienced?

Today I had a vacuum assisted breast biopsy which I didn't expect to be too bad. It wasn't until the anaesthetic wore off! The nurse told me to put a sports bra on tonight. Yeah that's not happening!

I've taken some tramadol I had left over so hopefully the pain will wear off soon but this is definitely up there with appendicitis, severe ear infection and toothache.

Giving birth and labour for 48 hours doesn't even feature in the top ten.

Sinus pain on a flight. I honestly thought my teeth were going to all fall out, or my eardrums burst, or my eyeballs pop out or something. It was horrendous, I just sat there whimpering.

The dislocated jaw was a close second. I never ever want that to happen again.

@Itiswhatitis21

Strange enough the trapped wind after a c section, how I was not warned about that. It was awful
Same here. Bowels stopped working after c section and filled up with gas and fluid. My abdomen was so distended I looked fully pregnant again. The most pain I have ever been in it was horrendous.

Gallstones. Nothing else has come close. Had several attacks not knowing what it was.
On the last occasion it somehow felt even worse. I just knew I'd not cope at home whilst waiting for the pain to pass so I went to A&E just hoping for some painkillers. Codeine had no effect, neither did oramorph. I was screaming and moaning every time I took a breath because even breathing hurt.
Got diagnosed with gallstones and promptly booked in for gall bladder removal as I was showing signs that it was infected and my liver was a bit stressed. I do wonder what would have happened if I'd tried to manage the pain at home, but I just knew I couldn't.
Even the post operative pain and the weird transferred pain in my shoulder from the gas they use to inflate you was nothing close to gallstone pain.
I've had two babies, recovered from a C-section, cracked my tailbone and I live with fibromyalgia. Gallstones beats them all hands down.

Cluster headaches.
Yes. I get these. Was ready to put a drill to my head to release the pressure once it was so bad. Now have an epipen and nasal spray to take once they come on. Still as bad as a migraine until the meds take full control

Labour contractions- went from closed cervix to fully dilated in an hour and with no time for pain relief…

Followed pretty closely by an ear infection in both ears at the same time, blood and fluid leaking out of them both for days until the drs prescribed correct antibiotics.

In some ways the ear infection was worse because it was constant pain for days and nights, whereas my labour was only a couple of hours and there was something good at the end of it!

Both made me feel like I was dying though!

TheCreamCaker · 02/12/2021 07:59

Gallstones, had constant pain for months until the operation.

At the moment, a torn tendon in my left shoulder. It's been 5 months now, and I'm still waiting for physiotherapy. Several different types of painkillers haven't made any difference, so I'm getting a steroid injection next week.

Hope you soon feel better.

Joystir59 · 02/12/2021 08:04

Frozen shoulder was painful. I don't think I've yet had to endure really bad pain.

AnxiousWeirdo · 02/12/2021 08:05

Getting stitched up for a cervix to labia dangling off tear (thanks DD...) Without anaesthesia 😑 the male surgeon kept telling me I was over reacting , he wouldn't even listen to the midwife that attested to the fact I barely made a sound during labour and now I'm crying and begging him to stop. I should have sued tbf

ManchesterTartwithCustard · 02/12/2021 08:07

Dental abcess in the first lockdown. DH and myself at the same time. He has an NHS Dentist, it was very difficult for him to access treatment. Easier for me with private dental care but still very protracted
I was going absolutely demented

Roominmyhouse · 02/12/2021 08:09

Dry socket after having both my bottom wisdom teeth out. It was awful, was 04 or 05 and I can remember trying to by Glastonbury tickets with a hot water bottle strapped to my face to try and get me through the pain.

Mammma91 · 02/12/2021 08:09

Kidney stones. Right up there with contractions! So painful

vampirethriller · 02/12/2021 08:10

Abscess in my jaw bone that turned into osteomyelitis. I was in labour for three days and would take that over the jaw any time.

StormyCornishSeas · 02/12/2021 09:25

Kidney stones. I can't even begin describe it

CoachBeardless · 02/12/2021 09:27

Either gallbladder attacks, or the tattoo on the underside of my knee!

PinkPupZ · 02/12/2021 09:34

Severe migraine. Throbbing violent pain. Made me wimper in agony for hours on end whilst also vomiting violently. Worse than the 8 surgeries I've had, access, internal bleeding, broken bones, c sections, childbirth etc.

Leonberger · 02/12/2021 09:34

I’ve had one of those biopsies OP and I remember it being brutal…like being shot in the boob Blush

For me childbirth with DC2. Contractions were fine but the end was much much worse and more painful than the first.

This is horrendous. Women are treated so poorly at times.
languagelover96 · 02/12/2021 09:39

endometriosis pain, double whammy

dropitlikeitsloth · 02/12/2021 09:42

Sciatica, hands down the worst. Cold searing pain that just dominates, I never cry over pain but my god, this was intense!!

Fallulah · 02/12/2021 09:51

Huge ovarian cyst that was twisting itself - god the pain was horrendous and went right through to my back and down the front of my leg. I was telling the doctors exactly what it was because I’d had one before, but they insisted it was kidney stones and took ages to agree I could have a scan!

TheCanyon · 02/12/2021 09:51

Collapsed lung, absolutely no doubt.

Shortly followed by a forceps birth with nothing to ease the pain.
