Worst pain you've ever experienced?

Today I had a vacuum assisted breast biopsy which I didn't expect to be too bad. It wasn't until the anaesthetic wore off! The nurse told me to put a sports bra on tonight. Yeah that's not happening!

I've taken some tramadol I had left over so hopefully the pain will wear off soon but this is definitely up there with appendicitis, severe ear infection and toothache.

Giving birth and labour for 48 hours doesn't even feature in the top ten.

@luinagreine I had that too it was awful with bits pulled out of me, although I had no infection - It was so traumatic I remember every single detail about it

Stage 4 endometriosis and adenomyosis - I scream in pain sometimes. Burst ovarian cyst, thought I was dying and unable to function or even work out I needed to go to hospital.

I’ve had three babies no pain relief and that wasn’t as bad as the endometriosis.

Namechange600 · 02/12/2021 00:06

Post a four hour operation to remove the endometriosis I had my ovaries stitched up to prevent them sticking to the sites of the surgery with wires. When these were pulled out on the outside, one bit of wire ripped over my insides. It was excruciating

Gallbladder attacks which started when I was 19weeks pregnant!

Never experienced pain like it

Shoulder dystocia birth having only had 2 minutes worth of gas & air , he was dragged and pummelled out of me . Then retained placenta that the Dr tried to remove manually 😫

Bootsnshoes · 02/12/2021 00:12

Miscarriage that went worse than anyone could have predicted. That was harrowing physically and obviously mentally .
The time my uterus was almost perforated by a coil was pretty horrific but I think the miscarriage was a benchmark of pain.

Allaboutyou222 · 02/12/2021 00:16

Childbirth, dental pain and when a doctor set my broken arm, no particular order.

AlohaMolly · 02/12/2021 00:17

Induced Labour with the pessary and then the bastard drip. DS had turned back to back at the last bloody minute, so gas and air didn’t touch it and I had three epidurals that didn’t bastard work. I was off my face with pain and genuinely thought I was dying. I couldn’t understand why no one would help me. Then I went from 4-10cm dilated in 40 minutes and pushed him out in 20 minutes.

The most traumatic thing I’ve ever done. I still don’t really remember it, I’ve blocked it out.

@Nanny67

Kidney stone! I had this last week, had to call an ambulance I literally thought I was dying. Took them 8 hours to get to me and I was lying on the floor.
I had this recently and it's the only time in my life I've wanted to call an ambulance for myself. It was a horrible gnawing and burning but sharp pain that felt like my kidneys were being blown apart and THEN when I passed them they were pretty much invisible . I deserved a Boulder at least!
PieMistee · 02/12/2021 00:21

In severity it is a mix of kidney stones, tooth abscess and extraction and standing on a bastard weever fish
In what I would never wish in anyone is fibromyalgia. 25 plus years of almost relentless low to high level pain and fatigue. It's the shitest thing ever.

pcofmushu · 02/12/2021 00:22

Dental abscess / infected root canal earlier this year. I was climbing the walls in total agony!!!!

Smokeahontas · 02/12/2021 00:23

My endometriosis frequently manages to up the ante when you think it couldn’t get any worse. I’ve been prescribed Palexia (tapentadol) for it & it hasn’t even touched the sides of the worse episodes.

Aside from that, a tooth abscess. Heinous.

NemosPoorlyFinn · 02/12/2021 00:26

I broke my leg 4 weeks ago and i was and still am in more pain than after my c section
It's definitely more frustrating and debilitating too

BackAwayFatty · 02/12/2021 00:27

Manageable
tooth extracted without pain relief (had an unknown abscess)
C-section
Infection on c-section scar
Broken bones
Migraine

Horrific
Covid + fibromyalgia flare - worst pain in my life, never been so unwell before

adarkwhisperinthewoodwasheard · 02/12/2021 00:28

1st: Ovarian torsion. Felt like my hip was rotting from the inside out. Vomiting with pain and sitting curled into a corner of a and e like a wounded animal.

2nd: broken and dislocated elbow with a torn ligament. Then had a bad reaction to the pain killer injection which left me vomiting (again) all night. I think I counted 35 times.

Childbirth without pain relief was a breeze compared to both

thaegumathteth · 02/12/2021 00:30

I feel like you'll all understand me when I tell you I feel so washed out in a way other people won't. I've had kidney stones and a dental abscess both in the last few weeks.

Honkytonkyhonky · 02/12/2021 00:32

I’m going back a few years but I was about 14 and my mother handed me a jar with a lid that was filled with hot water and rice
She told me to shake it,the bloody thing exploded and boiling hot water went all over my lady area and upper thighs
3rd degree burns-it was so bad it burnt all my pubic hair off
I had to walk like a crab for weeks-and go to the doctors every day to get the dressings changed
At that age I wanted to die rather than admit I had private parts-the shame of having a male doctor about the same age as my dad having a look and again for the nurse to change the dressings was almost as bad as the burns itself
I went on to have 6 kids and none of the labours where near that level of pain

MintJulia · 02/12/2021 00:33

Having a drain removed after breast surgery.

I'd healed around the tube so when the nurse pulled the tube out it felt like she was tearing my side open.

fibeee · 02/12/2021 00:37

Waking up the day after my EMCS when the drugs had worn off. Closely followed by breastfeeding with damaged cracked nipples which was excruciating painful. Took the breath from me.

Rno3gfr · 02/12/2021 00:38

I used to have awful period pains to the point where I’d throw up. Then I experienced labour pains and that is the worst I’ve experienced. It was all in my back and my cervix felt like it was being stabbed with a knife with every contraction, I was also vomiting to the point where my kidneys started failing from dehydration. I got given the epidural, it didn’t even compare to the labour pain so I wasn’t bothered.

Other than that I’ve been lucky, nothing major at all. Although tonight I did drop a knife on my foot, it flung through the air and landed in my big toe nail bed and made it bleed. FYI I’m not saying this compares to any major pain but I did unintentionally swear profusely in front of my toddler. Hopefully the image might make you chuckle!

Nannyamc · 02/12/2021 00:39

Had a bowel blockage in mar ch this year. During lockdown phoned gp can sèe you in 4 hrs. Vomited constantly green bile pain unbearable sweating all over thought i would die. Got to gp looked at me and said you should be in hospital. Had to drive there no ambulance. Triaged to A and E no bed for 3 hours vomited ev erywher Eventually got scan no result.wanted to tube me but i vomited again
Shifted to another hospital middle of the night. Wanted to tube me again and i said no. Then got a covid test was negative . Did colonoscopy next day showed a blocked bowel. Excruciating pain . Had to stay 3 days till bowel moved.
I thought i was a goner . Worst pain ever

RainbowBabyForChristmasPlease · 02/12/2021 00:45

My 4th miscarriage. My 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th were also painful but my 4th was definitely by far the worst, Physically, mentally and emotionally from the contractions that lasted almost a week and knowing I wouldn't have a Baby at the end of it. It was made worse thinking from the amount of bleeding and clots everything had passed when in fact 5 weeks later and I was still testing positive another scan confirmed Baby was still actually inside me.

Lumbar puncture. Never had a headache like it and I've had 2 bad head injuries. I couldn't lift my head off the pillow without violently vomiting everywhere. Even my upper back, neck and chest hurt so bad. In fact the pain was that severe had someone offered me an axe to chop my head off, I would've gladly taken it from them. Even now 6 years later I still get back pain from the nerve damage from the needle going too far in

Dyra · 02/12/2021 00:50

Spiral fracture of tibia and fibula. Two nurses were holding the leg in traction to apply a temporary cast. They didn't know how bad the leg break was at the time tbf. Every slightest bit of movement caused excruciating pain, making me scream in agony, even though I was maxed out on morphine. I was only 11 at the time.

In a distant second place is induction of labour on the drip. At least the painkillers worked there.

bicyclesaredeathtraps · 02/12/2021 00:54

Neuralgia in my legs and feet. I have a chronic neurological illness so it happens frequently and is manageable some of the time, but when it's bad it's made me vomit and very nearly black out.

NotMyCat · 02/12/2021 01:20

Cauda equina following sciatica. I told the hospital to cut my leg off, was drugged to the eyeballs and the relentless nerve pain...
Losing all feeling in my legs was a relief

I've broken my feet and ankles, had dry socket, an underarm abscess drained and packed with a skin flap made.. nothing compares!

Ladyrattles · 02/12/2021 01:22
