Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

@Kikkomam

The saddest thing about this thread is the complete lack of understanding of animals.

How would you train a dog to hold in a poo?

Actually I can't believe I am actually having this conversation. Some posters are clealry on the wind up. I'm going to take my dogs for a walk and let them shit wherever they want.

Plenty of dogs are trained to poo before going out though? Not sure why you think it's so impossible. ConfusedHmm

Pretty much sums up entitled dog owners in one post.

Are you aware that service dogs are all trained to go in a designated place?
Trixiefirecracker · 19/11/2021 17:34

I don’t think Kikkoman knows diddly-squat about training dogs. My pup used to go on command.

Live and let live OP.
You sound exhausting.
Maybe move to the outer Hebrides.

I'd say exhausted rather than exhausting.

Exhausted with having to deal with dogs and their dick owners.

Live and let live includes keeping filthy mutts away from people who want nothing to do with them.

Nyxly · 19/11/2021 17:53

It's a straw man because nobody else was saying it should be 100% reliable. That was not the topic of the discussion.

Again, appears you can't follow how a conversation works. I didn't say anyone said that it should be 100% I simply pointed out that it wouldn't and can't be compared to other training.

You know when a discussion happens.....People may add further points or opinions.

And it's really clear you dont actually know what a 'straw man' actually is.

What's the point of making that comment when nobody was implying that it should be 100% effective? Like I said, a straw man.

This is tedious.

fairywings55 · 19/11/2021 18:06

@Sayke you sound so angry. I genuinely think you would be a lot happier if you stopped worrying about puddles of piss on public pavements. Life is too short.

Nope not a straw man at all. Doesn't matter how many times you sayz downer make it true.

Again, I didn't say that it anyone did. I simply said 'it can't be 100% and isn't like other training', which is true.

What exactly is your issue, with that? I didn't imply, that anyone said it should/could be.

Are you suggesting I can't add to a point unless it's to challenge something some said?

When did you decide the rules on posting on MN? I missed the memo.

Oh cmon, you don't seriously think I spend my days worrying about dog piss?

I'm just having a laugh

Lighten up, stop worrying about some random stranger you know nothing about

Honestly? I think dogs are great, I wouldn't have one but I understand why people do. I also think there are too many right now and too many lazy owners, and they're allowed in too many places.

And "fur babies" actually does make me want to vom, sorry...

Other than that, pick up after them, don't let them piss near me, keep them from jumping up and stop them yapping at all hours and I'm good.

Hmm oooh another person telling me I should move. Odfod.

Why am I exhausting for mentioning what many here have agreed with me as reasonable complaints?

@Kikkomam

Most dog owners aren't abusive. Some are and I agree there should be some sort of punishment for them.
Well, I witness a lot of abusive dog owners - and in a decent area. One guy with a pit bull like dog that circled a woman barking threateningly took a whip out of his pocket at the dog- thinking I couldn't see (behind a Bush) That particular dog was always slightly out of control and I always stopped running if I saw it in the park. He shouldn't be allowed to have a dog.

Others I've seen spray things in a dogs face.

And there are other more subtle kinds of neglect such as NOT training a dog to be able to cope socially. Perhaps not walking enough or socialising- for example.

A well trained dog does NOT jump up on anyone.

Nyxly · 19/11/2021 19:31

I do agree with this. Imo, abuse isn't just hitting or not feeding or the more extreme stuff we see on RSPCA adverts.

Sorry, you've lost me. It's you that seems to be trying to tell people what they can post and wilfully misinterpreting what is said to you no matter how many times it is explained very clearly. So childish.

Ah right. OK, I was the one that took your posts and told you couldn't say that because it wasn't challenging anyone. Whoops, nope. That wasn't me. I didn't tell you, you could only post things that challenge other people and not add to anything.

If it makes you better to call people childish because they won't let you pretend you are the MN police, that's fine. Crack on.

Imposter1 · 19/11/2021 20:03

I do think that too many people think it’s their god given right to own a dog. Like it trumps the rights of all other people. Hence why they can go in restaurants and jump up and crap On pavements.

Selfish selfish people I’m afraid.

And as for the people that argue that their dog isn’t vicious. I’m afraid your dog might well be one day. I’m fed up of people telling me well actually labradors are more likely to attack children.

The times we read about attacks on children (and adults) it’s always the same type of nasty large dogs. And I’m sad to say, same type of stupid owners. Staffies, bulldogs and Rottweilers etc. are not built to be your bestie.

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 20:08

I do think that too many people think it’s their god given right to own a dog. Like it trumps the rights of all other people

Well yes, anyone is allowed to own a dog.

Imposter1 · 19/11/2021 20:13

And I’m saying they shouldn’t. You should have to prove you are a responsible owner first. That you can afford it. That you know that leaving shit on pavement is bad.

There should only be certain breeds in offer (no designer dogs, no dangerous dogs over a certain weight)

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 20:21

You don't even have to do all that to have children. Don't you think you might be being a bit OTT?

Doona · 19/11/2021 20:59

They've bred dogs to be submissive and suck up to you, they depend on you for their lives and in return act like you're wonderful. It's not real affection. Like, my neighbour leaves her dog out barking miserably all day, and then she comes home and she's like, "ooh baby!" the dog is wagging its tail like she's great. It can't complain. It's the only creature in the world I've ever seen her smile at.

Sociopath Shock
Nyxly · 19/11/2021 21:25

@Sayke I think the poster was joking.

But in all seriousness does just dogs being walked give you the rage? Even if they aren't approaching you, behaving themselves, the owner is clearly a responsible owner?

Same, bloody nutters 🤣. The type who let their kids run riot and look on adoringly.
