All Indian takeaways .. my mum is Indian and would go bonkers if she knew we ordered from them as she thinks they're not authentic .. just never tell .. interestingly though the waitrose ready curry meals get the very rare thumbs up !

ladygracie · 13/11/2021 10:41

Barclays, Nationwide - my whole family.
“The blue shop” The sun newspaper (the last 2 are linked!), 2 garages near me - immediate family.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 13/11/2021 10:41

Virgin - wifi specifically- very poor and intermittent connection service. Often dropping out of Zoom meetings very disappointing! Moved to BT now and no issues at all .... so far!

John Lewis Customer Service - trying to get an iPad repaired /replaced - being spammed with 100 emails - returned to me not repaired - eventually repaired but returned to wrong address - with protector removed and not replaced - never again!!!

Local pub- friends son (former employee) was physically and racially abused by a group (not locals)- employers did not support him and wouldn't allow him paid time off to recover. He took it to tribunal and won. We won't step foot in there again. Shame though as food was delicious.

doubleshotcappuccino · 13/11/2021 10:42

Oh and Germany because my dad got a speeding fine there once 40 years ago

SillyLittleBiscuit · 13/11/2021 10:43

Any sponsor or ex sponsor of Chelsea fc.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 13/11/2021 10:44

Coop bank, after a travel insurance incident. Moved all our accounts and our mortgage as a result.

shiningjustforyou · 13/11/2021 10:44

A now defunct energy company.

A local Chinese takeaway that I really like but their service is so shit.

A tanning shop because I hated the owners husband at school.

My dad wouldn't watch ITV because it was common but I broke this as I like Corrie and those terrible dramas they do.

Disney is hated here so I secretly sign up for trials when there's something I want to watch.

I'm sure there's more.

shiningjustforyou · 13/11/2021 10:46

Costa because half their drinks only go up to medium.

Tilltheend99 · 13/11/2021 10:46

@Findahouse21

I have a dodgy uncle and avoid the garage he works at...
Grin

This is what I was expecting the thread to be

WallaceinAnderland · 13/11/2021 10:47

@Porridgeislife

Belgium. The whole country.

VW because our Golf Mk 8 is a steaming turd of a car and I think there’s now fewer original bits than replacements.

My DH's car is the same - we call it Trigger's Broom Grin

Lush, Body Shop and Amnesty International for throwing women under the bus

Sleepinghyena · 13/11/2021 10:47

The Sun
Lush
SSE energy company for their historic highly aggressive "sales" technique. Forced his way into my house. Told lies. Taunted me. As I said to their head office then, I will never be a customer even if they were far cheaper than anyone else

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 13/11/2021 10:49

Our local sainsbury's for not selling me alcohol cos l didn't have Id.....the woman who refused me seem to forget l used to work there and am a good 10 years older than her - was late 30's at the time. Jobsworth

ISeeTheLight · 13/11/2021 10:50

Anything that falls under UK Insurance Limited (that includes Churchill etc) - SEVERAL friends and family members have had huge issues with them not paying out and in one case wanting the newly wed husband to take his pre-booked flight back whilst his wife was having to stay in hospital in South America when she got very ill whilst on honeymoon (he speaks some Spanish, she does not, the staff spoke zero English - so she couldn't even communicate with the staff there).

A local flooring company.

A large branch of estate agents who royally screwed us over when we were younger. (Although we are now looking at buying a property advertised by that same estate agents Hmm)

Anything hotpoint / whirlpool / Indesit related after a faulty dryer caused a fire and whirlpool couldn't care less.

DurhamDurham · 13/11/2021 10:51

Curry's for their unbelievably bad customer service at all levels.

Local garden centre because I once ordered a hot chocolate with cream and a flake and when I mentioned the flake was missing they brought it to the table resting on a damp cloth which they'd been cleaning tables with.
When I pointed out how unhygienic this one the member of staff literally shrugged. I'll never spend another penny there. I'm still so aggrieved that I literally flounce as I walk past, as if any of them would notice or even care Grin

BringBackThinEyebrows · 13/11/2021 10:52

Nestlé
Scottish Power
Plusnet (but I get the impression all similar companies are as bad)
Land Rover
We try to avoid 'Made in China' products where possible

What did Lufthansa do?
It's my favourite European air company.

Tilltheend99 · 13/11/2021 10:53

I used to boycott McDonald’s but their animal welfare standards have improved in the U.K.

Still don’t drink Coke due to various human rights/environmental things. Also, I have two veneers for front teeth as I used to drink it for breakfast as a child.

I used to be quiet anti big corporation on my 20s now I think about it. I must be getting old as I don’t boycott enough stuff these days 😂

stevalnamechanger · 13/11/2021 10:54

Wetherpoons

mamaoffourdc · 13/11/2021 10:57

My dm had banned us from using interflora for flowers as they messed up a delivery for her dads funeral - 30 years ago 😳

AndrewPeacock · 13/11/2021 10:58

Douglas Park/Parks of Hamilton (Scottish car dealer). For reasons that Mumsnet would definitely ---> Hmm

dworky · 13/11/2021 10:58

@Mixitupalot

My dad will no longer go into in the local shop as they made him break £20 for 1p. He was fuming and hasn’t set foot in it for the last 4 years!

I boycott a hotel a few miles away, the wedding coordinator sleeps with her clients and breaks up relationships, marries the “groom” then cheats again. It’s been going on about 18 years she’s 4 marriages in so far.

How awful that grooms have no free will & are forced into cheating! For gawd's sake, won't somebody think of the defenseless grooms?
ChinstrapBobblehat · 13/11/2021 11:02

Laura Ashley. Bought a load of wallpaper in there but had to go and get one extra roll to finish the job (ie same paper but different batch). When the decorator opened this last roll, it had a repeat black mark down the middle which was clearly a factory fault.

But when I took it back to the shop they couldn’t have been more fucking awful and twatty about it. Both the salesperson and the manager just kept reiterating that it was ‘impossible’ for the fault to have occurred in production, flatly refused a refund, and suggested that either I or the decorator had ruined the paper and I was trying to pull a fast one by bringing it back! For the sake of one roll of paper that was on sale and cost about twenty quid. Not only that, but they were remonstrating with me loudly and publicly, which was just awful.

Have never set foot in that place again, and that was about 15 years ago. They’ve gone out of business now in my town. Good riddance. Fuckers [grin ]

supremelybaffled · 13/11/2021 11:04

Currys PC World - after I took my useless laptop (that I bought from them) in for a service to sort it out, and they managed to wipe all my business accounts and other data, even after I'd made it abundantly clear that they had to do a backup before working on it.

Starbucks - after the allegations of tax dodging some years ago.

Sky - DH used to work in the industry and loathes them.

Nationwide Building Society - ever since the way they treated me over unreasonable bank charges.

CalmConfident · 13/11/2021 11:08

The cafe in our local park - run by a power crazed narcissist who buys his gingerbread men in Morrison’s up the road and sells them at a 200% mark up. This is the least of the things that annoy me Grin

FayKnights · 13/11/2021 11:13

Currys!!
They are firmly on the ‘dead to me’ list.
The worst company ever.
